- Disclaimer!! This is not a tutorial, and I am not a professional. I do this as a hobby, and I could be wrong at many places. Improperly handling a wound clock can easily lead to injuries. Please do not attempt anything on your own without proper research! Also, please feel free to correct any mistake I make in this video.
This is a HES Alarm clock made in India which belonged to my maternal grandfather, and was the timekeeper at his place. This broken watch, is what drove me into this passion - Horology. I had this restored professionally a few years ago. An year ago, it broke down, and I was not well versed in clocks, and was concentrating more on watches. There were a few Issues, took some time to find spares. I went slow, changing one part at a time and testing, and finally I changed the mainspring, and that's when I captured its assembly. HES were one of the widely available brands of clocks long ago, as I understand, but I cant find much about their history. This clock is one of the two I posses, both from the same company, the other belonged to my uncle. This watch is older than 45 years at least, corresponding to the earliest service date I can find, written behind its cardboard dial.
My last videos were very crude, this, I have tried my best, to be less so. I had rigged up again a crude setup of a mobile holder, and a point and shoot camera (and not a mobile as before), which kept on falling and running out of power. The editing is a bit amateurish too.
