Of all the video instructions for installation of the xchange kits for the P320 on TH-cam, this one is the only one that is professionally done, with quality audio/video, comprehensive descriptions with explanations and a useful precise narrative. A+++.
I just purchased a caliber exchange kit for an original issue P320 to upgrade from a 9mm compact to a full-sized .40 caliber. I like working on my own guns, but would have appreciated a warning that the slide catch levers had been changed! I had disassembled my old pistol and was trying to install the fire control unit into the new grip shell. What a shock that it wouldn't fit ... damn it!! Thank God for TH-cam videos and instructions like this one. I do have to give Sig credit, once I knew what was happening, and called customer service, they sent out a free of charge, new, slide catch lever. I still hadn't thought to ask if the modified fire control unit would fit in my old shell with modified catch levers. Thankfully this video addresses and answers that question. Great video, thank you very much!
I bought a p250 a while ago because of its modularity and love the way it shoots. To be honest it has been a pain in the ass owning this gun. Not because of it performance, but because Sig keep changing things.
Thank you so much for this video. I just received my subcompact grip module and didn't have a clue on how to install the new slide catch. The instructions that were provided by Sig were not that clear on installation to me. If not for this video I wouldn't have been able to install. Thank you so much. Headed to the range today!!
!!! X shells are DIFFERENT. Keep your OLD slide catch. X grip modules do not shield the slide release as the original P320 did. Original P320 catch lever is small and pointy, catches in IWB holsters (Alien Gear neoprene). FWIW the 250 weighs less than the 320 (3.9 inch barrel), and I find it highly accurate and very safe.
When reassembling your weapon, if you place the trigger in first then push the FCU slightly forward while angling the back end downward it will assemble much easier and you won't be fumbling around so much.
you gotta change out the slide catch lever. if you try to put it together with the old slide catch - you can jam it up so much you can't get it apart. that's what happened to me.
Thanks, bud! This is a great improvement, although I don't think it's is because people are prematurely locking their slides, but rather preventing their slides from locking while using a thumbs forward grip. That was my issue, anyhow. Thanks again.
I purchased a p320 subcompact that has an October 2016 manufacturing date and it came equipped with the old slide catch and grip module. I suspect the updates haven't trickled down to the subs, yet. It's not a deal-breaker for me, though. I will, however, be shopping for updated furniture because I like the new look. // I do believe that my SC p320 has the updated extractor spring pin.
I believe it. Last week I bought all three colors of subcompact small and they were all gen 1. I don't think they make gen 2 subcompacts yet. If I'm wrong, then I'm sending all of them back to Sig.
From what I understand, if SIG had sent you the new frame, they now include a new slide release lever with it in case you have an old style release lever/frame The new release lever will apparently work with the old frame (a little goofy looking) but the old slide release lever will not work in the new style frame.
Really like to see a video of cutting the grip frame down, I did mine and came out good but could use some info on polishing the cut area as it doesn't look as smooth/ shiny as new.
Great video! if there's anyway you could make another video of when you chop that compact to fit your subcompact slide please make it! I've heard people using dreml tools to do it, but they said it came out 100 times better with a mini hack saw. then just cleaned it up with a dreml.
Hey, I'm guessing this confirms what you thought about the reasoning here, from the Sig site: "SIG SAUER P320 Slide Catch Assembly Kit gives shooters the ability to upgrade to a lower profile lever. This kit reduces the possibility of the shooters grip affecting the lock back of the slide while operating." I wouldn't be so annoyed about this, but it seems I have the older design, and the brand new Lima Green Laser Grip Module I just bought needs the NEW design!
I had the first generation 320 and just got it back from Sig from doing the trigger upgrade. I also purchased a RX exchange kit. I noticed when I put the trigger housing into the new RX my slide would not go on. It was getting hung up on something. After comparing the 2 slides, I noticed my old guide rod was a circle at the end. The new guide rod had two flat sides to it. When I switched them out, I was able to install the new slide using my old guide rod with the full circle. I'm going to call Sig tomorrow, but was wandering if this is normal.
Rob W on my 250 slides if the guide rod is not fully seated in the barrel notch it will hang when trying to seat the slide onto the frame module. The guide rod will not be loose or look out of place but it can be just a little unseated and it will prevent assembly every time. Just give the guide rod a nudge to make sure it's fully seated and try again. The only way the new RX guide rod won't work is if it is wider on the barrel notch end than the widest part of your circular guide rod end in which case it would hang up assembly just like a loose guide rod.
I want one too. Being left handed, the new slide catch design makes it much more difficult to release the slide, due to the fact the slide catch only engages on the left side of the slide and slimmer catch lever flexes more. If you find anyone giving away/selling their old catches and grips, I am very interested.
That did not happen for me. I ordered directly from Sig Store and new grip module came with out new slide stop. I had to call customer service after the newer designed grip module arrived and my fcu did not fit. They were good about it and I do not know if this has changed since late March early April of 2016.
+Osage County Guns maybe because you are a stocking dealer. Either way not a knock on Sig. Customer service was great and fast. Just a heads up to maybe call ahead when ordering.
My P320 is about 1&1/2 yrs. old . I put all the after market parts out there at the time. Because of health problems I have not shot it yet but let a friend take it out for a try. He said he like it & it did well. How much of a test he did I really not sure. As soon as I can I plan to go back to shooting & coaching, thought this may be a good trainer. First revolver then they always want to move up to simi. I can not remember for sure if it is Red box or not but think it may be. Any suggestions, please ?
Yes I picked up a medium grip I had a large on it before and then medium came back with the new slide catch now I was able to take the old slide catch and put it into the medium grip and seem to a fit now you didn't mention about the time. On Old Style versus a new style on if you can still use the old slide catch with the new grip can you explain that better on when the cutoff. Is
I agree, I did buy a P320 Compact 9mm and have ZERO regrets. It is the finest shooting polymer gun I've ever fired. My Glocks and PPQ are in the gunsafe. It's that good. Worth the trouble, I promise.
So my slide will fit this frame? I have the 250Sc and would like the compact frame, you said you would just need to cut the front, so the frame would fit any mold??
It's part of a kit that you can get from Sig. KIT-320-SCL. The slide catch only, is part number 1300891-R. You have to call sig for it. It's not listed on their site.
Hi how do I buy this shell and slide catch lever cause I went to the sig sauer site and they don't have it unless I'm looking at the wrong site. Can you help me on this thanks.
I have a two week old compact P320 RX black (gen 2 of course) and bought 6 different magazines from Sig Sauer's website. Three subcompacts (all colors) all came as gen 1, one compact FDE as gen 2, a carry ODG gen 1 and carry black gen 2 which came with my barrel exchange kit. I think I'm going to return the carry gen 2. My question is, has anyone seen a gen 2 subcompact grip? I doubt they exist.
tscooter22 Just got one in the mail today which is why I had to watch this video to see if there were any tricks to installing the new slide catch. Just got a FDE Compact, ODG Carry and Black SubCompact and they all are gen2 frame modules. All the frame modules I bought in 2016 were gen1.
I don't need this upgrade for my P250C, and I don't see how any other P250 owner would need it. Maybe if I had a P320. My thumb is not a problem while firing the P250.
I bought a p250 45 California build and the guy said it's easy well it's not I built my Glock in 2 hrs. I find no Instructions for the p250 I find no instructions on building the trigger assembly or using g the jig I paid a lot of money for nothing it seems.how to I build the trigger assembly for the p250
Steven Means search online for fcu assembly and disassembly instructions. Thst isn't required for this topic though. I copied the web page when I first got a 250 but haven't needed it in years.
They are still showing the 'old' grip shells on their website as of 9-10-2016. They don't have the part on the website. No on is selling it. Take this video down.
Sig Sauer hasn't updated the photos on their website. Some might come as gen 2, some gen 1. All 3 of my brand new subcompact small grip modules came as gen 1. Compact were gen 2. Carry is a tossup. I got 1 gen 1 and one gen2.
What a giant pain in the ass. I hope the fde module I just purchased is the old model. So much for just dropping the fire control group in a new module. Total BS

After watching this video, I am pretty much sold on purchasing the Sig P320SCR. No, tools required! Thank you for the video.

I need to change the catch lever. Thanks for this it helped me figure out what was wrong.
Thank You! Getting ready to change grip shells and assumed I had to change levers too.
This video deserves more views. Answered all of my questions!
Took a while for it to come in, but I really like the new grip module on my P250.....especially the beaver tail.
That was an outstanding video.
When reassembling your weapon, if you place the trigger in first then push the FCU slightly forward while angling the back end downward it will assemble much easier and you won't be fumbling around so much.
Thank you very much for this video. Explanation is spot on.
Excellent instructions.
I have to swap out my slide release your vid was perfect. Thanks

I am going to buy all your sigs.... Someday

Use a rasp and then progressively finer files...
And if you want to really smooth it, just kiss is with a torch...
I did mine also, a dremmel with a really fine sandpaper cleans it up well and then i polished it with flitz
Great video! if there's anyway you could make another video of when you chop that compact to fit your subcompact slide please make it! I've heard people using dreml tools to do it, but they said it came out 100 times better with a mini hack saw. then just cleaned it up with a dreml.
Very high quality video.
Where did you find the new slide catch ?? I want one

I have an early P250 .45 Compact and installed a short trigger. Seems Sig is done with the P250. Can't seem to find anything for it now.
very informative, thanks!

I carry the sig pay subcompact . 1 great gun.
I want the old slide release.

+bull2808 It seems that they probably left it out by mistake. The newest grip shells we have been receiving include the slide catch lever.
+Osage County Guns maybe because you are a stocking dealer. Either way not a knock on Sig. Customer service was great and fast. Just a heads up to maybe call ahead when ordering.
+bull2808 Definitely!
+Osage County Guns Are you guys selling these right now? Would like to buy one in FDE if you do lol
They sell out so fast >.>
+FollowMeInfantry I'll have to check the exact grip shell you want to see if it is the updated version. What frame size, circumference, and caliber?

Sig getting kinda crazy in the last few years.

I just got one and i need it
Is that a subcompact frame?
What was the approximate date of this changeover?
Good day
Can you tell me if you can. With Sig P320 takedown lever
for left-handed users (right side of Pistol)
What's the part number for the new slide catch?
It's part of a kit that you can get from Sig. KIT-320-SCL. The slide catch only, is part number 1300891-R. You have to call sig for it. It's not listed on their site.
@osagecountyguns where can I buy the new parts for the p320
John Dawson?
I have a p250 and I want to know if I can do a caliber x change to a p320 compact medium. My p250 is a compact medium also
Hi how do I buy this shell and slide catch lever cause I went to the sig sauer site and they don't have it unless I'm looking at the wrong site. Can you help me on this thanks.
question how can you tell what fire control unit you have ? or what year your gun was made ? I bought a used Sig P250 sub compact recently.
I want to have a P320 subcompact slide with a compact frame. Is it possible to cut them down rail down a bit to fit flush with the subcompact slide?
Yes, I've seen this mod work without complications. There's a video here on TH-cam that details it.
Just got my new compact gripshell from Sig. They didnt send a lever replacement kit. Looks like the p320 will be down for a minute.
I had the same problem ... I was not impressed or happy.
Would a P250 fire control unit work in a P320 caliber x-change kit? Being that the P250 is hammer fired and the P320 slide is striker fired?
No, they are entirely different FCU’s and not interchangeable.
Can you tell me what is the lightest recoil spring I can safely use in a P320 full size. Thank you
Can the Grip Shell from the P-320 X5 be used on the P-320 Chassis ?

I have a P250 Compact .45 and swapped to a short trigger, was easy. Not knowing what you are doing that can be hard.
Enjoying all the p250 love from Osage. A shame to see a lot of gun owners just shitting on the gun.
Its chambered in 9mm
Help me Johnny.
What a giant pain in the ass. I hope the fde module I just purchased is the old model. So much for just dropping the fire control group in a new module. Total BS
You keep calling it a "grip shell", even the package you are holding in your hand it's a grip MODULE!!!!!!
