Came home with a M18 Carry today and looked for hours for a solution. Literally you were the ONLY one who actually provided the freaking solution. This vid was from like 4 years ago but still saved me a lot of headache. Cheers man
Dude, you nailed it. Thank you. Even with a slide off and pulling the takedown lever you can feel the trigger making the difference spinning the takedown lever. Thank you so much!
Thanks very much for a very informative video. I just purchased an M18 and couldn't believe how difficult it was to dissasemble a brand new pistol for cleaning and lubricating before firing for the first time by me. My thumb got incredibly sore attempting to rotate the lever to the molded stop on the grip module. Now it is so easy to execute this step in the dissassembly process.
Brandon, Thank you very much for solving a problem I’ve had difficulty with as well. Your suggestion to pull the trigger during the disassembly process seems to work just perfectly keeping that small piece of metal from obscuring the hole on the left side of the gun. No more problems! Assembly after putting the slide back on and locking it back is now a simple procedure thanks again
Just got my p320 with the sig Romeo pro. I had problems with my takedown lever being really stiff. But after watching ur video a few times and then applying ur techniques shit got easier. Thanks bruh
Thanks so much you just saved count less people so much frustration! My first time at take down was madness and made me feel so stupid! You would think Sig would put a big orange sticker on their box or manual addressing this issue!
Thank You!!!! I just got this gun awhile back and got so angry cause the switch felt impossible to flip. Came across your videos after a couple different ones that solved nothing and your trick worked like a charm. So glad ya found this out. Thank you again.
Thats not an issue its a safety feature read your manual. You do not have to pull the trigger. That feature is there so you don't have to. The take down pin has a angled side to slide into place to act as a key when you assemble and disassemble there are no unfortunate accidents
Well what’s your solution to a well know problem with these pistols that is absolutely NOT mentioned in the owners manual? My last 320 disassembly lever would not fully engage. I had bruising on my thumb, and had to use a wood dowel to get it to engage. To some extend this has also affected the M-17. Not all these pistols have the issue, but Sig definitely knows about it. In some cases they have sent people new disassembly levers. Sig needs to test these better leaving the factory, and this procedure could become a Sig procedure in the future.
My point as well. Unless you have chapter, page, and paragraph, I don’t believe it’s addressed. It has nothing to do with the barrel rod and the videos author is absolutely correct there’s a small piece that covers about 20% of the hole on the left side of the gun unless you pull the trigger and allow it to retract. The authors video is exactly what needs to be done to reassemble the gun without damaging it or prying it with a screwdriver or inserting a dowel into it. Thanks for a great video I struggled with this problem myself until I saw your video
@@rmflyfish I'm a little confused as I have this problem of that small angled part covering the bottom right 20% of the hole for the takedown lever. Just by pulling the trigger only the small piece covering the bottom right 20% of the hole will retract or is there another step besides pulling the trigger needed to completely open the hole for the takedown lever? I saw the owner in this video get a screwdriver and force that little piece back towards the trigger. Does the little piece need to be forced back towards the trigger with a screwdriver to open the takedown lever hole completely open or do you need to ONLY pull the trigger to completely open and clear 100% of the hole for the takedown lever Sorry to ask such a dumbass question but I am missing something which I guess would make me a dumbass. I apologize once again. ETA: The part that chaps my ass is that I don't even know what I hit to activate that little piece to cover the 20% of the takedown lever hole at the bottom right
you are a genius!! I almost broke my thumb today trying to clean my sig and had to take a rest period before I actually was able to get it . I kept thinking there had to be a good mechanical reason for the problem, and not just that it was stiff, but I could'nt find what that was. This makes so much sense. I am going to try this next time I take my gun out of my safe.
I spent about 90 minutes fighting and getting aggravated with this. After watching this video and wiggling it around it went back together in 10 seconds. Mine was more the upper receiver would not go back far enough for the slide catch to engage. I have the P220 , P226 and P365 and have zero issues so this was aggravating the shit out of me....Thanks for the info!
The lever just does not have the ledge to get force to turn the lever down, very poor on Sig’s part. I upgraded to the Armory Craft Sports lever during a holiday special a couple years ago, night-n-day on how the take down lever works and still fits my holster. No reason for Sig to make a poor design and no Sig support on many owners having issues for disassembly. This is the only handgun I own which has a disassembly problem. During the Armory craft holiday sale I also purchased the magazine extended release, which the other was fine. However, the extended version is a bit nicer to get to for my thumb and was not that much when doing my joint purchase. Very happy switching to the ‘sports lever’ and extended mag release from Armory Craft.
Thank you for this video, I recently purchased my p320 and when trying to familiarize myself with it I encountered this problem and was very frustrated. I tried what you recommended and it work flawlessly. Thanks again !!!
Thanks for the tip, although I could not see it very well in your video, your explanation helped me figure out how to get the piece from blocking the hole and disassemble the brand new FCU I was working with.
This was amazing. I had the 250 for years with no issue. I've been fighting with this for over an hour and like you said all the other articles and videos were of no use. Thanks brother
Random stuff. My p365 got stuck up today with the slide removed. Wouldn’t rotate to the vertical position. Watching this while futzing with it made me try to pull the trigger while rotating it. It only worked upon releasing the trigger, that’s when I felt the TD lever slip downward.... thanks dude. You deserve more subs and views
Thanks, brother for sharing this. I was able to FINALLY get my Sig P320 X Compact back together. it out but searched the web to figure out where I went wrong. I just picked it up yesterday and today as I was cleaning my guns I put it in rotation. Skimmed the manual as I've disassembled pistols from various manufacturers for years. And quickly learned the quirks with this one after 45 minutes of scratching my head. I must have goofed when I removed the trigger module. I get WHY Sig did this, and I'll make sure I make others aware of this as they move to this platform.
Thank you!...as a newbie I was experiencing same on xcompact model. Was practicing disassembly and could not get tk dwn lever back to neutral position. Once it did go back trigger would not engage....hence your slide lock/ release demo worked.
Thank you for explaining this so well, I couldn't get my new P320 X-Carry to open with other videos & you're right, they're not addressing it! Listen to this video, it works! #SIGforlife
Purchased the Armory Craft ‘Sports’ takedown lever and took complete care of the disassembly problem. This level provides a slide bevel incline to allow for leverage to be applied to turn the lever, extremely easy with the Armory Craft Sig P320 Sport takedown lever. Plus it still fit my holster for the P320 without any modification. Check around Holidays for slight discounts. I also purchased their magazine release extension, which does provide a better feel for that release button being slightly longer, but just my 2 cents for this feature. Sig was worthless in addressing this issue, when there should NOT have been a problem for disassembly and reassembly. If you out in the field and need to do a breakdown, should not need tools.
Brandon thank you for this video, I had been having trouble changing my frame, for the first time, but mention that you should pull the trigger slightly as you said soveld the problem, I been trying to pull out the takedown lever for a week+ & to change to the xcompact frame, it just would not line up, had a piece at the last hole that would not let me pull the lever all the way out a small ledge was there from the fcu, slightly pulling the trigger solved that & the hole aligned properly, & I was able to pull out the lever with both holes aligned 👍👍👍, thanks for the video
Thank you. Very good demonstration. Interestingly, I have the exact same problem with my 365. Kills my thumb also. The pistol is new and when I asked sig they say the gun has to be broken in. B/S has to be something like you explained. I’m gonna try your method. Thanks again
Had this issue last night. Another option I found is to rotate the take down lever clockwise until it clears that mechanism and keep rotating it until it seatscompletely in place.
Didn't actually notice that beforehand.. the big thing sig talks about is the not having to pull the trigger to disassemble the weapon. I was told by Sig that the key was to line up the recoil spring correctly. If u look at the spring head on you notice there are two flats on either side. Those need to be vertical and that gives the clearance to allow the takedown lever to move. I will however try your method as it's still tight as heck
Some of the naysayers in here may not have owned a 320, or got lucky with one of the guns that don’t stick as bad. But this is definitely a common, well known problem among the entire series, including the M-17, M-18 pistols. I have heard this complaint from the military members I work with when they first got the M-17. The severity varies from pistol to pistol, which sounds like a QC problem. This issue Sig needs to address.
Thanks buddy! I wonder if it's the same on the P365? I had an issue with my take down lever....I put so much pressure on it something broke. It's with the gunsmith now getting fixed. I'll look when I get it back.
I’m having the same problem with my sig p320 m18 I think I stripped that black thing and turned it shiny that comes forward against the takedown lever I was looking for replacement parts for it but very unsuccessful also there’s a noticeable stripping on my takedown lever now the paint on that is also fading and stripped and the takedown lever holes look pretty beat up around the edges of the plastic I’m so disappointed this was my prize possession and bday present
I’m having a problem with my take down lever as well but my problem is it won’t slide back into the second hole and go in fully like it’s supposed to it looks like the groves from the frame and and drop in aren’t aligned any tips?
I had the same problem. Very frustrating. The fix (actually the work around) is quite easy. While trying to rotate the takedown lever pull the barrel out a bit and it rotates all the way.
Good explanation. How does anyone not know this? Lol. Sig explains how to take it apart. Lock the slide, pull the trigger, remove the pin, remove the slide and done.
Thanks that worked after repeatedly pulling on the trigger. A 700 dollar gun this is ridiculous but yea it’s one of the best in my opinion other that issue.
It's the guide rod that's stopping the takedown lever from rotating all the way around. Make sure the guide rod stays up and you won't have a problem. If it falls down in the assembly, the takedown lever won't rotate. It's got nothing to do with the trigger.
The thing is so damn fiddly it might have something to do with the trigger, God knows. However, I also have found that lifting the guide rod up a bit will allow the take down lever to rotate with no issue. I have a definite love/hate relationship with this pistol.
Sig designed this gun to be empty when you are trying to dis-assemble. That means the mag should be out. You are not suppose to pull the trigger. There is also a block that prevents the mag from being inserted until the lever is in place and rotated in.
just got one and same damn issue and then the guide rod would not line up with front of the slide. Couldn't get the guide and spring back. Had to use a pick to centre front of guide to centre it in round hole in the slide. Going to grab mine and give this a try right now!! Still couldn't get it to work. Still can't get the lever to move. Took it back to gun shop and they had a hard time as well. They told me to put some rounds through the gun to see if it gets better and if not they will get me a new gun. Ok played around with some more and got it. Trigger has to be pulled at exact time lever binds. Works but what a pain in the ass.
The owners manual discusses this issue. When putting the pistol back together, the slide needs to be locked back, then the take down lever put back up, and the trigger will pull and the magazine will go in. If when reassembling you don’t lock the slide back, the magazine will not go in.
Have the same problem with the Sig 365 - new. Took me forever to get the take down lever pulled down. Don’t know how I did it but I’ll diffently try your method next time. Pisses me off the $$$ we pay for a really nice pistol and you got to go to iTunes to figure out issues. Any one have sig’s customer revive phone number. Thanks pal.. be well
The trigger trick did not work for me either. I found that pushing the guide rod back up would allow normal rotation of the takedown lever. Dave White covers it in his video Sig Sauer P320 takedown issue fix, but not a great video. th-cam.com/video/NYhWnxqwryw/w-d-xo.html
Bro - I stumbled upon this after killing my fingers all day. 5 years later this video is still solid. Thanks for the simple solution my man.
Came home with a M18 Carry today and looked for hours for a solution. Literally you were the ONLY one who actually provided the freaking solution. This vid was from like 4 years ago but still saved me a lot of headache. Cheers man
Thanks for this. I've been struggling with this since I bought this gun a year ago.
This has saved me so much trouble.
Thank You as you have solved my ONLY Issue with this weapon.
Dude, you nailed it. Thank you. Even with a slide off and pulling the takedown lever you can feel the trigger making the difference spinning the takedown lever. Thank you so much!
THANK YOU!!! Why is no one else talking about this
I've watched countless video's trying to find out how to take-down and reassemble this gun and this video nailed it. Thank you so much.
Thank you!!! Problem solved thanks to you!!!
My lord! This gun fought me more than my wife. Awesome vid! Liked and subbed.
Have 2 P320's for over a year and have had ZERO issues
I just spent an hour fighting with my 320. Found and watched your video, had it fixed two minutes later! Thank You!
My sore, swollen fingers thank you.
Perfect explanation

Fought with this gun for weeks; tried the trigger pull and got it turned immediately. You're a life saver man!
3 years later and your video is still helping people. Thank you brother!!! Shit was annoying!!!!
My issue was trying to disassemble the slide with an empty mag in the gun, once I took the magazine out, the lever turned without an issue.
ITS ACTUALLY actuated by the magazine so when the mag is installed it locks that part and you can remove.
Just stick a mag in and see when taken apart and you’ll see
Just got my p320 with the sig Romeo pro. I had problems with my takedown lever being really stiff. But after watching ur video a few times and then applying ur techniques shit got easier. Thanks bruh

I greatly appreciate your video on this issue. I was so confused why the lever wouldn’t turn all the way.
I was going bonkers with this problem! Thank you so much. That rotating fan is an odd distraction!
Bought my p320 early December 2022. This is still relevant!

Thank you for this demo. You’ve just saved my finger from pulling this lever like hell.
great, now I have a non-functioning pistol. Shouldn't have done what you said
That was a real frustration solved, thank you.

That helped me. Just got my sig and couldn’t figure this part out after I switched grip modules. Thanks bruh bruh!
I have both the 9mm and the 45 full size. The 9mm is thought to rotate the disassemble lever but the 45 is easy . Thanks for the info
Thank you
This frustrated me very much... thanks for the video...
And thank you Brandon for the video and the comments on this thread. Very helpful.
I’m still having trouble. You pull the trigger and the take down lever at the same time?
Some of the naysayers in here may not have owned a 320, or got lucky with one of the guns that don’t stick as bad. For me I was trying to rotate the takedown lever with the magazine in… that was a no go. Once I dropped the mag the lever rotated perfectly
Helpful video. Thanks so much. Bravo!
great job! well done. worked on about the same issue on my 365.
No go. Pulling back on the trigger of my 365 only serves to completely stop the lever from turning.
Absolutely worked. Where was this video an hour ago
Major thanks from thumbs the world around
Thank you so much I almost got frustrated !
You a saint. Thank you Sir!
I’m having a problem with my take down lever as well but my problem is it won’t slide back into the second hole and go in fully like it’s supposed to it looks like the groves from the frame and and drop in aren’t aligned any tips?
It's not the trigger, it's the angle of the guide rod. Push it towards the barrel and the disassembly will be fairly easy.
Omg 👍🏽 Thanks Bro I was going crazy I just fixed it all on Turkey day
I… love… you… what a pain! Thanks for this video!
Bruh...💯
Thanks for this, great tip!!
Dj TeeOh because this the lever to get stuck and you Connor fully rotate for disassembly
I had a lot of problems with my sig 320 xcarry ended up getting rid of it did not think it was worth the money
Is there a easy way to get the takedown pin out slide comes off easy but it's very hard to get the pin out to remove the trigger mechanism
Thanks so much! Saved me!
Does that technique also work for the P365?
Thanks that worked after repeatedly pulling on the trigger. A 700 dollar gun this is ridiculous but yea it’s one of the best in my opinion other that issue.
I am having this issue with my build, what was it that you pressed with the screwdriver?
That's supposed to be there. There's a reason why the end of the takedown lever is shaped the way it is.
Good Info Brandon. Thank you.
only helpful video out there
Thanks for the video! Great help
Sig designed this gun to be empty when you are trying to dis-assemble. That means the mag should be out. You are not suppose to pull the trigger. There is also a block that prevents the mag from being inserted until the lever is in place and rotated in.
thank mate, your a genius.
just got one and same damn issue and then the guide rod would not line up with front of the slide.
Have the same fuckin problem with mine
The owners manual discusses this issue. When putting the pistol back together, the slide needs to be locked back, then the take down lever put back up, and the trigger will pull and the magazine will go in. If when reassembling you don’t lock the slide back, the magazine will not go in.
I can't get mine to turn to take it off so I'm still lost
My take down pin just keeps rolling back parallel with the slide it wont stay in the 8 o clock to get the slide off any help would be appreciated
well thats good to know...my man!!! thanks
Wao thanks for the info, will try this!
Thanks pal.. be well
Thanks helped me
It ends up you do have to pull the trigger before you pull out the slide. Much much easier with that little thing locked up when removing the lever.
Just lift up on the guide rod...pulling trigger doesnt always work
The trigger trick did not work for me either. I found that pushing the guide rod back up would allow normal rotation of the takedown lever. Dave White covers it in his video Sig Sauer P320 takedown issue fix, but not a great video. th-cam.com/video/NYhWnxqwryw/w-d-xo.html
