It's fascinating that they create a practical bloater and little girl clicker, but the main shots of them are 100% CG. Wonder how useful the reference was.
I’m sure it’s extremely useful, especially for lighting and just general reference compared to nothing, but it’s really just more of a creative choice, director could’ve seen the shot with the girl and said “she doesnt look small enough, we need her to do the acrobatics but look younger” so that’s why they have the practical reference but still might change it a lot
Or idk if this is the case necessarily but I would guess compositing the CGI like the spores on top of a bloater looks more fake than if they just redid the entire thing in CG (and then use the practical for reference of course)
reference is always the most useful thing in any CGi scene, having good reference for lighting, shadows etc. is really important as it makes the CGi as accurate to the scene as possible.
I love your VFX videos i think they are cool but you know what would be a dope making a tutorial on how you made a character from the zero and how you edit it in a video
Everything apart from how the Bloater moved, I bought fully. I was a bit sad to see the "CGI-moveset" of the big B, but hopefully they're able to do some more practical shots with a fatsuit or something for S02
Naw. Practical has the same if not worse tells. Floppy fingers, lack of heaviness, limited mobility, etc. You'd be amazed how often VFX replaces practicals because of how bad they look in the footage.
@@A_M_Bobb As a VFX-artist myself I'm more drawn towards great practical suits and monsters that are enhanced with CGI. Fully CGI monsters can look cheap and more often than not takes me out of the illusion and makes me aware that I'm wathing a movie, instead of living in the universe.
Crowd looks a bit sped up and unrealistic. Looks like the frame rate doesn’t match the rest of the live action. Animation is what breaks the illusion here.

please make more of these, I beg you
You guys did the difficult deed of doing the video game justice. And you guys crushed it.
I love behind the scenes like that. Thank you!
I composited shots on this sequence. Amazing work by the entire team.
Directors: We use 100% practical effects!
VFX Studios: Hold my beer.
WETA are really masters of their craft. Unbelievably good.
someone send this to corridor to react too now lol, last shot is nuts
You guys are amazing, seriously, I would like to work and learn with you even if it was just to serve coffee
what a great show to work and a sequence to work on. Well done you all
This is why I have post notifications on! Thank you again!
Tom Cruise would have probably said “No CGI.”
The best scene ever made one of my favorite for sure 🔥
Of course it was WETA. It was so good
Really impressive work!
the base plate at 1:42 compring to the final shot damn.
"Beauty lights" you say 😂
Beauty lights means the final composite that contains all the color and details
kiwi not aussie
so many detail in vfx
so so so so good!!!
is there any work-life balance when you are a vfx artist?
Tommy's actor at 1:09
May i ask how many poeple worked on these shots?
unreal

bro thinks it takes 2 minutes
@@Denomote lmao bro is asking entire process with one tutorial 🤣🤣 I can't laugh after watched your comment
@muhamed7555 bro it's really long process and several departments in vfx, so if you're interested in character design try flipped normals
Just do a little modelling then add some compositing and a tad of lighting and bam, you're done
@@Onatic99 😁😁
This is the NO CGI WAS USED????!!!!!
RIGHT?!?
What do you mean?

Love the work but I think this scene was so poorly directed and such a fail in story and setting-wise
how so?
