    After Everton and Fulham, I do think that Chelsea have actually had one of the worst transfer windows. They have again brought in so many players for overinflated fees, some of which don’t even make the match day squad. Despite getting rid of some deadwood, they could have still done a lot better. Losing Hudson-Odoi for as little as £3M when Bayern Munich were looking at paying more than 20 times that amount just a few years ago is unacceptable.

      Chelsea's issues are going to be deeper and remain a problem a lot longer than most are realizing. Having a flop with 7 years of contract left are either going to mean taking massive, massive losses, or not being able to move them on at all.
      Chelsea should not be allowed to run their club like this - it's a financial timebomb.

    As a Spurs fan our best signing was no doubt Ange, none of these players would be anywhere near as fun or good without him. He revived Bissouma, Porro, Romero, Son and Kulusevski after Conte tormented them all of last season, brought Udogie into the fray after his loan spell and coached him into a very different role. Credit to the Levy/club aswell who basically pushed for the sale of Kane and the move to sign players aged 17-25 and in doing so found it easier to play the football we Spurs fans should see week in week out. Again I'm well aware it's early and this season is one very much for transition but all I expect from Spurs is entertainment and a genuine attempt at winning every game and now we've finally got that after 5 or so years of awful management.

    Everton fan here. You've got to judge it on where we were versus where we are.
    Up front we went from a toothless Maupay, and a crocked DCL to: Beto (not amazing but a good price for 6-12 goals a season), Danjuma (looks good quality, who cares what happened at Spurs) a promising Chermiti, a crocked DCL. That's a pretty significant improvement in depth and quality. We did sell Cannon and Simms, but neither were likely to feature much. Verdict: Moderate improvement.
    On the wings we were really light with just Townsend, Gray, and McNeil. We're still pretty light now, but letting Townsend go was probably for the best, and statistics suggest that Harrison is way better than he gets credit for should be among our key players once he gets fit and integrated. Verdict: Small improvement.
    In central midfield we kept Onana, Doucore, Gueye, and Garner. That's a solid unit. We only lost Davies, who has arguably regressed since he first broke though. We also sold Iwobi in the last year of his contact and somehow recouped most of the fee. Trust me when I say most Everton fans would have expected closer to £10M rather than the £20M we got. Verdict: No meaningful change.
    In the fullback areas we were light before and we remain light. Coleman is a legend but is well over the hill. Mykolenko is below average for the prem. Patterson is decent. To that mix we added Young, who is a decent option to add more depth. Honestly though, our fullback positions are so weak I would rather cut our losses and move Patterson into a back 3. Verdict: No meaningful change.
    Defence: Our central defence has been another area of chronic weakness, especially whenever Keane plays. Losing Mina is sad, but in all honesty his injury record is shocking and his wages are high. Holgate going out on loan is no loss. The big plus for us is the return of Branthwaite who is that rare combination of speedy, aggressive, tall, and powerful. A beautiful young defender. Verdict: Small improvement.
    Goalkeeper: Pickford is and was the undisputed king of his position, and the release of Begovic and Iversen make no difference. Verdict: No change.
    That I think is a very fair rating our how we did. As you can see, every key area has either stayed put or improved . Will it be enough to keep us in the Prem? Not sure. I'd give us 60% to stay up, 40% to go down.
    But the idea that this is better than Wolves losing almost all of their defenders and selling the heart of their midfield is laughable. You've got to grade things on a curve, and I think Everton have slashed wages, raised funds, deepened the squad, and added goals to the side.
    That's why there are so many Everton fans double-taking on this video. We're not saying we're good. We're not even saying we'll survive. But it's a damn sight a more sensible window than we've seen in a while. I'd take this over at least the last 5 summer windows. Maybe even further back then that.

    As a Liverpool fan, I'm honestly quite pleased with their business, although the Salah issue still looms. If the complaint over the years has been the midfield, the midfield looks instantly much better. The front line doesn't need attention (unless Salah leaves, though I think they'd be fine without, still). They needed a CB, perhaps, but they're playing Jarrell Quansah in the absence of a new one, and he hasn't put a foot wrong. Szoboszlai and Mac Allister feel like such excellent signings... rank them where you'd like, but I'm happy.

    • @buzz5020
      @buzz5020 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

      Surprised Liverpool are so low when you consider we went into the window needing to address the midfield, and have replaced injury prone Henderson/Fabinho/Keita/Ox with Szobo/Macalister/Gravenberch/Endo for 90m net - Szobo and Macalister especially who already look like they’ve been in the team for years. If we’d signed Lavia instead of Endo our window would’ve been just about perfect (with how Quansah has played pre season/first few games I think it’s fair to afford him a chance to show he can contribute instead of signing a new 3rd choice this window)
      Not fully sure how Newcastle who signed Tonali, two teenage fullbacks for 30m each and replaced ASM with Harvey Barnes had a better window lol

      @roccaflocca4312 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      @buzz5020 I mean, I think Newcastle did well, and pragmatically. But they've appeared to be regressing as a team.
      But yeah, people are saying Liverpool have fewer bodies than before so that's why it's not good enough, but Keita, Ox, and Carvalho had like 50 appearances between the 3 of them across all comps, and that includes subs, and only Carvalho made any impact.
      Fabinho was being benched as long as Bajectic was fit, and Hendo was clearly playing a farewell tour, Mac and Szobo would have kept him out of most games this year.

      I also think Newcastle overall have bought very smart since the takeover, but for a champions league team with endless pockets I’m not convinced they’ve had an overly good window, let alone better than Liverpool who have nearly fully rebuilt their midfield

If it doesn’t work out - FSG have already shown their hand that they have an extra 50m they’re prepared to spend.
      On CB - If anything I’d have preferred a RB tbh. Quansah looks very promising and deserves a run in the team to also show he has it. If not - all it means is we’ve missed the boat temporarily to sign a 3rd choice CB. Again not ideal, but worth the risk

      @FFTV-Lemmy Yeah, I was disappointed he didn't mention Sangaré! Definitely an oversight on his part. Certainly think we had a better window than Liverpool & Brentford, in context, as well. Although there'll be some hits & misses, we haven't overpaid for anyone (including Sangaré, when you think how the DM market has been this summer) and we have numerous potential bargains on our hands, when you look at the age profiles & their ceilings.
      Think we did a much better job on outgoings than he realised as well. 28 players have been released, sold, or loaned out. Plus, we got a good price for Johnson & used it to improve the squad as a whole. It's bittersweet, but don't think we'll miss him that much, as long as the team step up to fill in his goals; & Elanga looks like the ideal replacement, tbf.

    I think one of the bigger things not being talked about is how Chelsea are following the same model that has killed so many other clubs in the past.
    I personally think they have too much money and might be “too big to fail”, but using massive amounts of money to signs tons of players on long term deals has resulted in so many other clubs losing control of their finances and going down.
    People forget that they almost dissolved once in the 1980s, and if they don’t keep up a high standard of performance for the next 5-7 years and keep missing out on European football, there is a non-zero chance that they could find themselves in trouble again.
    Rangers, Derby County, Leeds, etc. all followed the formula of spending too much on players and then not being able to sustain the success needed to pay for that initial investment.

I think getting £32m from Iwobi (who was alright but doesn't fit in Dyche's system) and Gray (Who wanted out and has 1 good game in 7) when they're in the last years of their contract is exceptional by our admittedly low standards. Beto has started well, as has Danjuma. With Harrison we have a PL proven right winger who had better numbers than Iwobi last season. Ask any Everton fan and they'll tell you selling Iwobi is good business. Based on what we've seen so far this season Iwobi simply doesn't necessarily fit in the team any better than Dwight McNeil or Jack Harrison and was 100% leaving on a free at the end of next season. Stats will tell you that he's been our most creative player last couple of seasons but stats won't tell you his decision making in the final third is average at best and how much he slowed down our attacks. Fast breaks might keep us up, Iwobi definitely wouldn't've.

      Agreed. Iwobi takes it upon himself to be the creative force in the side, but he's a below average one in all honesty. There is a lot of opportunity cost in the low odds chances he takes on. Fair if he was winning enough of them. But he wasn't. Honestly thought he's go for half that.

    Evertonian here. I'm ok with you putting us dead last if you take into account our absolute waste of 600M over the past five years with absolutely nothing to show for it. This season however, we actually did some good business within our budgetary constraints (brought on by ourselves or course.) I'd say if there was one flaw, it was not bringing in another quality CB to replace Michael Keane or back up Jarrad Branthwaite. Other than that, we filled the holes we needed to and improved our squad from what we had last season. Keep up the great work, love the vids.

    Brentford fan here...
    Whilst I would say that the players we've signed throughout the summer window were good signings - Collins and Flekken for example already proving fantastic!
    It has, I think, been a bit disappointing especially through lack of signings in attack - Whilst Mbuemo and Wissa on their day can be possible one of if not the best attacking duo in the Prem - their finishing at times times can be off (Mbuemo already missing 2 sitters this season alone ALREADY!) and has cost us 2 wins that we could have EASILY had over Tottenham and Bournemouth.
    With our multiple attempts to sign Johnson failing to come through (due to all but 2 people in Forrest deciding that we a mid-table rival for them 😂) as well as the last minute decision for Bakayoko deciding to stay at PSV (due to him wanting to play in the UCL) despite the club accepting a significant bid for him.
    ...and in the last minute panic not having an additional attacker due to not having Toney until Jan. Phil Giles I feel just panicked and went 'oooooohhh f*ck - um, quick just sign Maupay back - f*ck it'
    even though he hasn't done ANYTHING for Everton and was just ok for Brighton (from what I saw) just sums up the sh*t show that is the second half of our transfer window
    Early on - my hopes were high:
    - 3rd season in the Prem
    - great finish last season (with a European spot this season)
    - 2 (3) great signings really early on the Window giving me hope that we could secure a big signing in attack.
    but no...
    with about 2 (or 3) days to go it was looking bright - PSV had agreed a bid for Bakayoko and Johnson was still on the cards (kind of) with other options like Ekitike also a possibility.
    then in less than 12 hrs it all went to sh*t:
    - Johnson --> Spurs
    - Ekitike staying at PSG
    -Bakayoko staying at PSV (for UCL)
    thus, overall I am frustrated at the window. Whilst happy with the signings of Schade, Flekken and Collins - I am disappointed we couldn't bag a decent replacement for Toney (for until Jan. at least)
    (oh don't worry at least we signed 5 or 6 B team players! 😂)
    and I can only hope Maupay will be a success although I am not sure - not tall or strong and I don't think he'll fit out style of play but we'll see I guess
    (btw well done if you read all of this! I appreciate it lol!)

    As Chelsea Fan how high we are Able to Finish will determine our Transfer window and how effective it was.. they Can Go a Lil higher than 14th in my opinion because the Transfers out was Very good with the Exception of Mendy, Kante and Mount leaving Prematurely, Experience in Midfield is Needed and we are going to struggle for some Portions of this.. But our Midfield Recruiting was Fantastic and once they adapt to each other's style of play we can Have, one of the Best Midfields of All time.. So I'll judge the window in Full at the End of the Season anything 7th or Higher is A good Season because of the Aggressive way the Club has Gone about Rebuilding, Experience mix with Youth was the Better Way to go they Choose youth Predominantly which takes 1-3 seasons before Consistency can be established to win Big trophies.. I See us Trophiesless this season and possibly The next, until the team builds chemistry and its own experience..

    • @yungguattari4924
      @yungguattari4924 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The issue is, mate, that we cannot judge a transfer window by the end results because that will be analyzing a completely different thing (coaching, tactics, overall fitting into a system, non-injuries, squad building and depth, plus tons of intangibles, etc.). Maybe Alfie didn't made it clearer during the video because I've read many comments overlooking precisely this: he judged the transfer window taking very much into account the financial side, how much teams absorbed risk regarding to fees and wages, player's experience or youngness, the marging of profits, etc. In that regard, Chelsea made a really big bet and, as you said, the results will be tangible only in the long term, but you cannot judge a bet in high praise because... well, it is a bet, and how's Chelsea doing by now? As it is today, that transfer window was monetarily impressive but hugely risky even in the long term because of those weird ass contracts. Let's say that some of those players don't work in Poch's vision, what are they going to do? Sell them? To whom and for how much less? To the Saudi Prem? To immediate league rivals with probably better suiting systems for them to actually develop or perform at really high level? Yeah, you can't praise a bet that much.

I can see them easily finishing 6th or 7th. Behind the obvious Arsenal, City, & Liverpool, as well as Spurs, who lets not forget also don't have European football which is a huge factor in many's overvexpectation of Chelsea. Hall is also a loan deal, with the obligation to buy which is likely but still certainly not a done deal by any means. If anything they used this window as a corrective to previous failures, shame regarding some injuries that I think has resulted in their slow start. I think we will see if their youth project can get into the top 4 this season, it would be a push but they just need a few results and nkunku to return.

Both inhibiting esrs development and getting paid a fraction of what Kai does. If I was esr I would of forced move to Villa. It is especially damning given vieria form , the fact we couldn’t persuade xhaka to stay one more season and we were helping Chelsea out of ffp whole. Glad we didn’t do esr for murdyk though. I think Chelsea's business will turn out to be the best in 5 years provided Boehly and Co. stick to the plan. Sanchez will be the gatekeeper as #1 until one of the two young former MLS keepers take over. You then have James and Gusto as RBs, Chilwell and Cucurella as LBs, Fofana and Disasi as RCBs, Colwill and Badiashile as LCBs, a double pivot made up of Enzo, Caiciado, Lavia, Gallagher, and Ugo, CAMs Nkunku and Chukwuemeka, wingers Mudryk, Palmer, Maduake, and Maatsen (long term I think hes a winger), and Jackson and Broja up front.
    If that team stays and plays together for the next 5 years only a handful of those players will even be 30 and then you sprikle in the countless wonderkids if someone leaves (or sell them on).

    Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 543)
    I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
    If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
