Great flying Brian! I really enjoy watching your videos. I stopped flying about 10 years ago. Since I have been watching your videos these last couple months I am slowly getting back into rc planes. You have great energy and an awesome spot to fly. Keep on keeping on. I look for new videos that I haven’t seen from your channel daily.
This is one of those planes that shift their CG slightly when you retract the gears. So yes a little more noseweight definitely helps when the gears are up. Now when the gears are down, it will feel slightly noseheavy but nothing unmanageable on approach. I have this plane and it’s definitely a fun eye opener 👀
I had one but didn't like it and there are other better warbirds to go for. The 800mm warbirds from FMS is a sweet choice but the larger 1.2m from E-Flite fly much better. To me at least the wing loading on this 980mm P-40B is to high. Hopefully E-Flite will bring the P-39 back as it looks kinda similar and fly fantastic. Better yet are the Corsair and P-51D!
I LOOOOOVE these 980mm FMS fighters- I think they’re the most screaming laughing I ever did! (The high speed versions) I fly them with 3300 4 cells for more nose weight and time. Trying to give Megan a haircut? or is she stepping out on the runway like Denise?
Looks locked in for the size with your CG tip. Glad I watched till the very end. Now I understand why the telephone poles were back/ delayed video release. :)
Hallo you tubes best channel. Now it’s time that you upgrade to ix14 I love to see you learn everything amazing and new things and setups with that. You truly deserve ix 14 . And remember to buy something nice to the camera crew. Learn something new every time I watch you. Thanks. Martin
i both have the fms p-47 and the p-40 both 980mm. and off the two the p40 is really unstable, and i was one of the poor souls that have one without the gyro stabilizer. so it makes sense that they upgraded it with a gyro. I just wish there are more scale planes with retracts at 980mm size.2
I had a jet called the PHASE3 EF16 which is just a quick cheap jet that you put your own motor servos in to fly and I built it and set the elevons according to what the manual said and the CG to what the manual said but even with the battery slid back as far as I could get it, it was VERY nose heavy to the point I had to literally hold a bunch of up just to keep it from crashing so I put the battery where it was supposed to be according to the CG setup and I adjusted the elevons to give it more "up" and now it flies like it's on rails!! Really fun jet after I got it sorted out. Not sure if that was the right thing that do but it worked out great!! BTW, great flight and video , as usual. Thanks!!
The thing I find ridiculous is, the manufacturer does much testing in developing these models, yet can't get the CG spot on...No excuses in my opinion. They should even have the gram weight of the battery they used for their CG location. Really good flyer at the park I go to, and he will add weight to tail section if need be. He will glue wheel weights to outside of fuselage if it comes to that. Ideally, your trims should be as close as possible to zero trim after manual adjustment.
Thanks for the cg tip. I've had wonky take offs so much i don't want to fly her. I'm doing that foresure. I think you were alot smarter with the black nail. Lol.
Hi Brian👋, I have a question. As you know this plane really torques taking off and have crashed this one twice taking off. I have placed my ESC in the upper part of the nose over the battery, could this really matter? Like can a plane be TOP heavy ?
Do you have a MODE 1 Transmitter? (Most of us are on MODE 2) - If so, they're setup differently. You'll probably want MODE 2, if you want to learn in the more popular mode. What Transmitter are you running?
@@BrianPhillipsRC I ended up watching another one of your videos and found out that I had the wires all wrong. I didn’t realize that they were assigned in the remote. I was going off of the user manual the plane came with. Thank you
Everytime you 2 post a video is gets me so freaking excited! :) Never stop... plzhehe.... I Have this aircraft, its one of those I will for always keep. Love from South Africa!
Is there a reason why the elevator points down in auto level shouldn't it point up to help gain altitude ND if u level it out with trim soon as u switch to stabilizer mode u got to trim the crap out of it again the only thing I can think of is that it points down to help get the back wheel off the ground for take offs but as soon as ur in the air it wants too nose dive in the ground makes no sense it pointing down to me
This has to do with how the REFLEX is supposed to mount, and sometimes they get mounted somewhat "off". Most tail draggers need to be held LEVEL to see a level elevator in "auto-leveling" mode. This plane should be no exception. Trim is applied to all modes on REFLEX, which is why I consider it to be somewhat basic, compared to Spektrum's offering of SAFE and AS3X. Both are GREAT options, but the Reflex V2 is just not quite as sophisticated. The good news, you'll likely get it worked out with some fiddling around, but if you don't and have to tear out the Reflex V2, you can plop in an AR630 and get her really dialed in, up to and including making trims attached to each flight mode. bprc.me/AR630
We had it done, then found out it was out of stock ;( SOOOOO we wait. This happens more than we'd like to admit. We don't mean to torture you guys - LOL ;)
If you run into trouble with a stall ND the reflex is in auto level would it give you more trouble recovering it mainly the elevator control not going level cuz its nose diving nd the reflex is trying to do to much nd im thinking making it worse to recover would my best chance to recover get it out of auto level quickly
If you're flying enough "mistakes high", then all you'd need to do is, add power, and the plane with aid of Auto-Leveling will get flying again. That being said, there ARE some conditions where auto-leveling could potentially exacerbate a stall, but it would be unusual. Most of the time, people get "bit" by Auto-leveling, by the associated "limited pitch and bank angles" where you're not allowed to move out of the way of an obstacle, like a tree for example.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks Brian ya my mistake was running my battery too long nd couldn't get the power to save it i was just to excited forgot voltage Alarm just stupid stuff
Brian, i resort enjoy your flight review videos, I'm from the N. Midwest and your p place looks to be same part of the country, maybe Midwest or a little East?
You CAN actually bind more than one plane to a single Tx. I've done it, but you can't actually fly two at once with good results. Check out my Cessna 182 UMX Flaps mod, and you'll see an example of multiple Rx'es in a single plane.
You're probably one of the only guys on the planet who's wife is ok with her husband messing around with rc airplanes. Most women absolutely hate this hobby. Just like video gaming.

Wow, that was a close pass with the camera crew. Cool flight Brian.
I love their 1400mm. I’m hoping for an E-flite P40 1.2M.
Love mine. Fly's like it's on rails. Enjoy the Reflex system as a safety system. Great little gyro system.
That feeling when you adjust cg and the plane gets locked in. 💪
7:52 When you were screaming 😂😂😂😂 so hilarious
Glad you enjoyed it ;)
Always Fun and instructive , thanks for all you do Brian. Camera crew you are the Greatest !

Wow flaps and gear on this size ?? I'm sold !
I’ve never messed with the reflex 🧐, I only use the AS3X on all my planes and jets. Cool plane and great video!
As I understand, the Reflex has already been set for the particular aircraft.
what beautiful plane !!!

I have the 1400mm big sister and she's one of my favorite planes.
Brian, would this work better on spektrum ar631? This reflex sounds like loads of wonky..
Good work buddy been off the planes for a while but into some flying again. 👍😁

Is there any one else here who think P40 is cooler then P51?
Both are nice
With a red nose and shark mouth it is defff cooler than p51🥰
I just wish eflite would do a p51B....
I like the P40 a little more than the P51 but my favorite WW2 Warbird is the F4U Coursair
They are both classic and cool in my book !

Have you thought or done a video on ibus set ups on flysky radios most fms manuals talks about hooking the reflex up through ibus ports
I haven't sorry. We don't have any of that gear, except for in the RTF, and in those cases, we don't have to install it.

I am an old coot that doesn't use stabilization, (maybe I should), Please demo with and without , and describe how models handle in each mode.
ZIPPY! FMS did well by using rotating gear. Nice touch. As always, thank you for producing fun and educational vids for us to enjoy. Cheers!
If you put on a GoPro (stick with your shirt or something) for vdo how you control , it will be perfect 😊
Wait the power lines are back?
can you fit a 4s 3000 in this plane? can you run on 3s
NIIIICE 👌
Have you ever hit those powerlines?
This appears to be some old video. He no longer has those powerlines.
I only have a 4ch radio...so I fly mine without flaps
Hey I'm #1 Again! 😜🤣😁😎
I just got the fms 1.1m zero. Seems very similar to this plane. You should review that one BP

Can I fly 2 planes on one controller
