    Hey Brian I have this plane and found it a little bit under powered on 4s, so all you need to do to fly it on 6s is replace the 4 bladed 14/8 prop for a 2 blade 15/ 9 and you won't exceed the amp draw or burn out the motor,and it really wakes up this model🤔👍

    I had no idea you were injured. So glad you're ok, Brian. I had a similar bike injury as a teen. Quick release front wheel on my 10 speed (yep, im that old) released. I still dont remember any of it.
    Spent an entire summer vacation recovering.
    I can totally emphasize with you there.
    Thank God you're back in front of the camera 😊

    Beautiful plane and smooth flying sir!! Keep up the great vids you two!:) Found this info on the "inter-webs". ;) “Duchess Arlene” was a P-51D assigned to Lt. Robert W. Williams of the 100th FS, 332nd FG in 1945. Williams shot down one of the Luftwaffe’s Me 262 jet fighters on 24 March 1944 and on 31 March 1944 shot down a pair of Fw 190s".

    The 132d Wing's P-51 Mustang, "Duchess Arlene", was dedicated in 2002 to the Iowa Tuskegee Airmen!
    These famous Airmen were members of the 99th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group and 477th Bombardment Group from 1941-1945 during WWII.
    A little local flavor for you!!

    I'm not really mad about this being on 4s as opposed to 6s. I like having 3 or 4 (ok, 5 or 6) bats for a plane. That many 6s bats equals a car payment or two 😊
    That said, I'd probably end up trying it on 6s, after scraping the wing tips and glueing the tail a few times 😅

      AWESOME!!! Get a bigger battery than they call out. this will help get your CG right. This was crazy that they call for a 2600mah, and I used a 5000mah, and still a TOUCH tail heavy....and mid you, my 5000 was ALL THE WAY FORWARD into the firewall, still on the tray, and pushed forward so that when it "Clicks" in, you can feel the battery pushing back out toward your hand a bit. that being said, I will probably try this on 6S and see how much better she is, at some point, but I don't want to kill this beauty with a fireball of energy from a burned out motor...although, that would make for good video ;)

    I got bored with the speed Brian. So I installed the fms 4258 650kv v4 fms t28 motor!!..4 thru 6 s!!. I also put the t28 3 blade prop and tried 2 blade prop as not to explode the redtail prop setup..Now u can rip the darn wings off it.😂..u can also keep the original engine in it and do the zip tie mod to the redtail 4 blade prop for more pitch to get a little more out of it. I know u don't do much modding anymore but this one's worth the engine mod in my opinion!. I also installed a 100 amp castle esc 4yrs ago..still running strong!.

  • @jjs3287
    @jjs3287 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Pretty certain I had a Version 2 many years ago. Needed an absolute ton of mods but back then it was an amazingly scale looking plane for the money especially when you consider many people were still flying box like gassers back at that time.

  • @TheSkinon
    @TheSkinon ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love this plane, you can get the props from the eflite one (with the yellow nose) and a 6s esc and run 4s-6s all day, the motor is the same as the eflite one but 100kv more, so it's about as fast on 4s as the eflite one on 6s then 6s makes it a little faster but heaps of grunt!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I need to try this, since this plane does well in a very SCALE looking flight, but I'd like the margins we get with that additional power.

    • @TheSkinon
      @TheSkinon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianPhillipsRC yes, highly recommended! Don't need to change the ESC just the props, as my mate and I have compared them directly and this one is slightly faster as it has 100kv more, but all the torque!!

      hummmm...great question.
      FMS 1.4m P51 - bprc.me/FMS_P51
      1.2m Eflite - bprc.me/P51 - Better experience overall, but it's a newer rendition, and still made by FMS ;)
      1.5m Eflite - bprc.me/P51 - I didn't care for it as much as the 1.2m, as it was heavier, much harder land due to the tail wheel, which was cool since it's retractable, but kinda messed up my overall experience. Also this plane is already running on 6S, and also still made by FMS, but WAY easier to build, and easier to transport, with tool-less removable outer portion of the wings.

    If this has the fms 3948 760kv motor FMS state max 18volt motor, 56amp max. 860watt max . 14.8v x 56amp =830 watt. if 6s 22.2vx 56amp = 1243 watts. I suspect the motor windings may not take 1243 watts or 1400 watts on a full battery !!!. In my fms PC21 I use fms 3648 870kv motor 195gm 18v max 70amp max 950w max. ( FMS Nemesis motor ) Perhaps the extra 110kv on the stock 4 blade prop will do the trick on 4 s and it should be a straight swap if you can find one ? I suspect the diameter and pitch of the 4 blade prop will be the limiting factor ! 70amp motor max x14.8v = 1030 watts. 16.8v =1176 watts !!! Having said that I would prefer to just fly it scale on the stock system with a 3000mah 4s and a bit of lead at the front to keep the overall weight down. I have had an old foam 1400mm lanyu models P51D Mustang with the 3948 760kv fms motor 3000mah 4s and 70amp esc, 2100gms all up flying weight for the last 8 years which is now on my third colour scheme and I still fly as my go to, fly any weather model . Of late I have been using a 5500mah 4s on the windy days as it gives a bit more stability, though the gyro also helps a bit in that respect. 🙂

      Maybe that's the part I was noticing too...I sometimes wonder if the scale lines get blurred when we've had a lot of other P-51's with different size landing gear / bogeys / tires, and we come to expect a certain look, even if it's a BIT off from the full scale. Plus, so many different variations on REAL planes too, and of course, the futility in my own subjectivity can't be overstated.

    Hey Brian, do you have any 5s batteries you could try? I find 5s can be a sweet spot for these planes that just need a little bit more oomph. Seems to be a good trade off when your not sure if 6s will lead to a melt down. I have a question about your amazon link for purchasing. Should it take me directly to the listing, or should I have to search for it? I picked up the P-47 yesterday, but wasn't sure if the link worked properly. Keep up the great work guys!

    Hey Brian, I still watch even though I don't need to . I've been through 3 or 4 transmitters and I've now landed on the IX14. I truly love that new IX14 transmitter between ergonomics and ease of use puts it at the top of the list for me .

    I resubscribed because you do put great effort into your videos. I had unsubscribed because i asked a question and your answer sounded as though you were just pushing product which I did not like. I don't believe that to be true, you want us to have a good experience with RC flying but..... it does seem there is not a whole lot of support for making the new stuff work on what I'm finding out is older equipment. I have a DX6e and the support I have gotten from both Spektrum and Horizon Hobby has been lacking.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Support on the older product is tough to come by, like you said. I wish I could answer all your concerns with the DX6e, but I've just never had one. I DID have a DX4i, DX5, but that was forever ago, and not a programmable setup, like your Dx6e. I also had a DX8, and then later DX18...but admittedly, Spektrum will eventually drop support for much of this equipment, so when I suggest an NX10, hear that in the context that we don't want people to chase good money after bad. We would love to help people buy thousands of dollars worth of needless steps in progression through the hobby, as it would earn us some nice commissions, but we would quickly lose support from our beloved audience! People know when you're trying to stretch the truth to sell an item, and I hope you don't think we're doing this. We DO cover a TON of planes and other items, but we don't particularly care WHAT you get...just that you're IN LOVE WITH IT when you do get it. This is what we want, and hope this is clear, BUT we do want you to buy stuff. We WANT to expand this hobby. We WANT to help grow the RC ecosystem, like we say a lot.
      Also, I don't want to waste your time with empty replies. I HATE that even more than people NOT caring enough to reply. We try not to pretend to know what we have idea about. When you work in technical job, as I do for my day job, AND this endeavor, you learn very quickly that "faking it" will result in loads of trouble. I've learned, in stead, it's better to be honest, and admit when you don't have expertise in an area of study.

      Thanks Brian for the reply. It's Okay, I'm a nu-bee again when it comes to this stuff, I used to fly 30 yrs ago when the tech was all different. That's okay, just new stuff to learn. I have been able to tie the safe select to the flaps which gives a little more in the way of options. I appreciate all you do, thanks. DC

    Do not run a 6s. I ran a 6s 3200 and it was too much torque for the props and it blew them apart and pulled the motor mount out. 😢

    Brian, help me out here.
    You have well over $1000 in smart packs sitting in your kitchen. You well well over $4000 in aircraft in your basement.
    Are you seriously suggesting a $100 avian 100mAh esc out of your budget to get this bird 6s super power?
    You make me want to repower this bird with the esc and the motor from the V1200 to see what it can handle.. will the motor mounts fit?
    Ps, luv ya 😘

    The spinner is red but behind it is red and yellow that is the original Red tail yes there was a movie about it but they didn't tell you everything about the brown pilots as we call ourself we don't call yourself black and we don't use black and white we use brunt reddish brown and peach cuz you guys are not white we hate that to the tea that is just the government saying black-and-white we don't use Africans we are native Americans born here and raised here and like I said the original Red tail it does have bread tails on it and the spinner part is red behind it it is red and yellow and the wing tips are red and yellow they don't put that on the plane they have a documentary on and the pilot was the very first I'm just going to say the way they have an African-American Ace he shot down 5 109 German the first African-American Ace

      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks James! Glad you could help clear that up, and I think you could kinda understand my confusion, since the pilot figurine was not brown, it was kinda like dark gray???? Either way, not a big deal, we've seen worse renditions of color match, but these pilots always get the worst ;) Sorry for my ignorance, and I couldn't for the life of me, think of the Tuskegee airmen, and I was aware of their large contribution in this regard, but didn't recognize the livery for what it was, which is pretty lame, since the box said RED TAIL - oh well, sorry to force the wild goose chase, and thanks again for helping clear this up, and also for being here with us!

  • @chrisknight5634
    @chrisknight5634 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    they were called red tails and in ww2 they protected us bombers The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African American military pilots and airmen who fought in World War II. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Forces. there's your history lesson for today brian
