This Emergency Tire Repair Kit is easy to use, but I pumped it up before I was ready to leave for a repair shop, and it went flat again. No problem, I pumped it up a second time and drove 6 miles to a tire dealer. They said the sealant gums up the inside of the tire, making the repair slightly more difficult. Still, the repair was only $42. In future, I will use a compressor without sealant. In my view, this is much easier than changing a spare!!
Yea, works great in controlled environments or most cases but last NIGHT my tire was destroyed on the interstate and I was 100 miles from home, cars and trucks wizzing by at 70+ ... rigging the trunk of my 2017 to carry a donut spare ... this is not for people who drive long distances, often far from assistance.
I fixed my flat about 2 months ago. I bought a replacement bottle for future flats. The problem is the instructions don’t tell you how to get the used bottle off the compressor. I had two Toyota certified mechanics fiddle with it for about 20 minutes. I sent emails to my sales rep. 2019 Prius AWD-e. Help me
From a mechanic, please dont do this. Just put a spare on and drive to the shop. Or tow your car to the shop. There we can help you replace the tire if its bad or properly do a permanent and safe repair from the inside out. Go to good shop and its not very expensive. DO NOT: -Drive on a flat or leaking tire, even short distance, its worth making the effort to put the spare on, even if its only a couple kilometers. If wall gets damaged or is in anyway compromised, thats a new tire as its now irreparable and a hazard to keep. -Use stuff like this or any sort of gooye sealant. If you have sensors, this stuff will clog your sensors and you will have to replace those. As for on our end, its an absolute pain to work with tires with 'temporary' solutions. - Try avoiding a punch patch from the outside in. This may come as a surprise but those too are TEMPORARY patches and need to be replaced with a permanent patch by a shop. Again, a pain to deal with these. - Not only are these temporary patches a pain for us to deal with, it also hurts you. With a temporary patch -you will still be driving under 80km/h like on a spare. -risking damaging your tire further incase of any sort of minor or major failure in terms of the patch -risking having not done something properly or missing any other damage that would worsen things if driven on. Leave it to the professionals, just put on a spare. -Risking not getting it permanently repaired if the puncture gets damaged beyond repair during the 'temporary' repair. -is a straight up waste of time, effort and money And please, for the love of god, DO NOT BUY EXPENSIVE CARS OR RUN FLAT TIRES IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD THEIR COSTS AND PROPER MAINTENANCE. Run flats have a very hard sidewall and will keep shape if leaking or with no air even. You can drive on a 'flat' runflat to the shop. A run flat should NEVER be repaired. Its a REPLACE ONLY. The reason being that since you can drive on it flat, the wall takes damage and you can never tell how much damage the wall has taken or how long its been running without air. Repairing a run flat is a safety hazard and IF SOMEONE DOES REPAIR A RUNFLAT FOR YOU, THEY DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR SAFETY. They can and should be reported.
For the Prius Prime, they basically use the space where the spare would go for more batteries, and then some. In 10 years of owning my current car... (a prius) I had one flat. On the prius prime you are trading the ability to have 122mpg vs putting a spare on once in 10 years...
I have the Prime. I actually whacked a curb and blew out a tire. Had to get towed to tire shop for a new tire. Flat repair kit wouldn't have worked in that case. When it comes time to replace my tires, I'm going to get run-flat tires. They may put a hit on overall mpg efficiency - the OEM tires are designed for efficiency - but if they can keep going after a normal puncture, that's a lot better than needing to rely on the repair kit.
Joe Zhang move the tire connect the equipment turn equipment on place stickers turn equipment off drive check pressure get tire replaced (sealant kits are temporary, always change your tire if you use a sealant kit) what is hard about that?
you remember when car trunks were not made smaller for better looks and had a full spare wheel and tyre. cause i do. i'd rather change 5 bolts 2 times and lift the thing up. i can drive where i want at any speed. not shitty repair bullcrap like in the new ones or the shit worth space savers
This is a scam.theyre just saving money on the spare tire. most of the time tire needs to be changed. So then you're stuck with a towing bill and need a new tire and a rim🤦🏻
A more detailed video should be provided before handing the car key to the new owner. This video does not show that the puncture should be moved to the top before pumping air.
this is oddly satisfying
i love my Prius

Does the sealant ever go bad in storage ? Should it be replaced every once in a while ?

i guess you missed the memo about Prius not having a spare tire, so your advise is impossible to follow
I'd take a good old spare tire...
Rabia khatoon Rabia
I want that Toyota air compressor for my 2004 Toyota IST
is that Prius also in UK?
it looks meh
i would rather do this than changing a tire, problem is this is not a all solution....
Could you anybody confirm me this car model ????
It's a Toyota Mirai, FuelCell car using Hydrogen.
It's available in India
I don't know, doesn't look like your avg Joe/Jane can pull this through

why do manufacturers do this instead of giving us a proper spare tire.
I don't think the cargo area could fit one. A doughtnut is a maybe. A big maybe.
for the prius case, i think there is no space for a tire as it's a hybrid car and have both the engine and a electric motor. on top of that, battries
For the Prius Prime, they basically use the space where the spare would go for more batteries, and then some. In 10 years of owning my current car... (a prius) I had one flat. On the prius prime you are trading the ability to have 122mpg vs putting a spare on once in 10 years...

Does not look too easy and useable
Joe Zhang
move the tire
connect the equipment
turn equipment on
place stickers
turn equipment off
drive
check pressure
get tire replaced (sealant kits are temporary, always change your tire if you use a sealant kit)

It's easy, even for an old woman like me!
Stickers are dumb but ok

toyota has lifetime free towing service... try again. a lot of insurance include it, even without collision coverage (mine does)
That’s not a real Prius is it?
A bit a asmr

They do say that, at 0:35.
Too many steps..
