Manu Ginobli is the most underrated, under appreciated, under used and under paid player by far in the NBA history, probably in the entire professional sports history. A proven winner at every stage, a big game performer, a clutch time star and an ultimate team player, he is the all time best shooting guide right next to MJ. In his prime, he was the best player in the world, evidenced by the fact that he led Argentine beat so called dream teams twice. Everyone says Tim Duncan was Spurs' best player. However, Don't forget Duncan was beaten by Ginobili in the only game they faced each other and Duncan supposedly had a much better team. Tim Duncan's legacy was tarnished to some extend by the defeat in 04 Olympics, in my opinion. In fact, Ginobili is at least as crucial as TD for Spurs in their past 10+ years' run. Pope knew this very well. This is why he always put the ball in Manu's hands in the final play when a game is on the line.
Ginobili is a prime example that international talents from small market countries got surpressed by NBA. Teams need their talents to win games, but also need US players to promote games. This is understandable. At the end, NBA is a business, a big business. The bottom line is important for everyone involved, including Ginobili himself. This is why he has accepted his role. He fully understands that if the system was not running in this way, he had no chance to collect the hefty paycheck worth morn than $100 millions in his career (still vastly under paid) and everyone else's pay could also be cut sizably This is why Tony Parker, a much less talented player has been promoted more because he represents France and to a large extent, the whole Europe. This is also why Kobe Kryant is so much hyped and grossly overrated.
Finally, I believe international game is a fairer testing ground for a player. Professional games are managed by the business organization. They are more or less influenced by money in a direct or indirect way. International games are purely for glory. This is not only for NBA, but also for other major sports such as soccer. This is why World Cup is considered as the most important games in the world

The greatest overall 2 guard outside Jordan and Kobe. I mean this guy could shoot outside like Jerry west. Could dunk savagely on you like Wade. Could pass like Bird and Magic. Could defend like Bruce Bowen and then he was as cold blooded clutch in the biggest games like Jordan and Kobe. I mean on any other team he would be a starter but that is his greatest quality winning really was number one so he played a sixth man and took pay cuts galore. No 2 guard ever has all that on their resume and I haven’t even mentioned the winning. 4 Titles a Gold metal and Euro championships. Everywhere he went he won big. First ballot HOF and my favorite player of all time. Thank you Manu for all the memories.

While Manu doesn't have the stats and some might even argue the accolades to be in the HOF, they are wrong. He sacrificed individual success for the greater good of a team for the better part of nearly 2 decades. If Ginobili doesn't belong in the HOF, then there is no sense of having it around. Manu is one of the all time great talents' the NBA has been fortunate enough to have had and has changed the game so much. That sort of selflessness and basketball craftiness needs to be acknowledged for future generations

You're right. But Manu didn't just sacrifice; he changed the game and was a world ambassador for not only the Spurs Orgranization, but the NBA as well. He's helped shape modern day basketball. And while Manu didn't invent the Eurostep, Manu did do for the Eurostep what Allen Iverson did for the Crossover. I think this belief that someone needs to have high stats to be a HOF'er is just ridiculous. Manu did everything to make his team successful, whether that meant being clutch and taking the last shot, getting his teammates involved, or making the play on the defensive end; and it showed. If you ever watched Manu play, you would know he was critical to the Spurs success. Basketball will now and forever be a team sport. And in this day and age of the game where everyone wants to be king shit, Manu excelled in every situation that was asked of him

But I think they will remain in our heart for having symbolized the ideal team in a team sport : a great coach (thanks to Pop' for having permitted to Parker to play in the French team for great results), a great leader (Duncan is the best power forward who ever played in NBA), and two great partners (Parker and Ginobili) for almost 2 décades.
