    • @Engiction

      You know what's also fatal to a lot of athletes? A punch to the face, kick to the face, elbow to the face, knee to the face, liver shot, liver kick etc etc. The scary thing is what's covered in general media is top athletes, so much of unknown athletes stop their career because of that

    • @AK-fr8sy

      @@Engiction fair point but the difference is that a kick to the groin, an eye poke, and a side stomp to the knee is almost guaranteed big time injury. Whereas the things you’ve described are less likely to cause the same magnitude of damage.

It’s so much easier for me to handle someone 80 lbs heavier than me than it is to handle someone closer to my own stature. Knee kicks were one of the first things he showed me because “if you can’t overpower them, or make them overpower themselves, you take the legs and then they’re fighting from below. Unless they train, nobody wants to fight from below you.”

    Surprised that so many people are saying this should be banned when, as far as I can tell, this kick is only career ending when your opponent stands in a super bladed stance with weight loaded onto the front foot. If you stand square with a light front foot (I.e. muay thai stance) then it's not a threat. So I feel like banning the kick (aside from being hard to ref consistently) is also problematic in that it's kind of a buff to a karate stance and a nerf to a muay thai stance.

      EXACTLY!

    • @daredevil953
      @daredevil953 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ...what are you taking about? The front leg doesn't hold the majority of the weight in a karate stance which is why we saw wonderboy take a bunch of those and fully recover after. It can be career ending whenever someone steps forward and loads their front foot which boxing heavy fighters will do more often than anyone else realistically. It should be banned because it's career ending not because of what style it helps or hurts. Like yeah banning shots to the back of the head is a massive buff to wrestlers, half the wrestling or more in the ufc wouldn't work if you could hit to the back of the head, but it's still banned because it's dangerous.

    It’s always been one of the most dangerous strikes in mma fortunately it’s kind of dirty and frowned on. You wouldn’t usually see people use it other than maybe the likes of Jon Jones. But in a street fight oh for sure it’s going to be one of the first things I do.

      Absolutely. Guy in video was immediately retired and underwent a knee repairment surgury because apprently he broke it.

    The oblique kick shouldn't be allowed in any combat sports. It takes way too little effort to destoy a person's knee (and probably career) that way.

    Brutal. All martial arts have fatal or life altering attacks doesn't mean they should be allowed.
    I am surprised it did broke and hang after such a powerful kick on the joint . Should be banned totally.

    Not sure about making this illegal. A knee to the face is just as brutal, and way easier to pull off. Making that timing to hyper extend the knee is 1 in 100. Other than Khalil pulling it off, when was the last time you saw someone win a fight by hyper extension? Really think.

      It is legal, but it probably shouldn't be. The idea that a 12-6 elbow is too dangerous but this is fine is insane.
