Alisa has probably become my favorite apologist along with Mike Winger. I've just seriously begun listening to apologists recently. Alisa has helped me understand why I get so frustrated with “Progressive Christians.” As I talked with them across social platforms I began to see patterns in their conversation. I saw postings that seemed “good” but not Biblically accurate. I read their comments about their view of God, the Bible and how they seemed to change definitions of words and concepts. Alias opened my eyes and I am grateful.

The best place to find answers is God's Word. There is the answer to our needs and godly, mature believers. I was thinking about how satan tried to deceive Jesus. He waited until he was very hungry after the 40 days and offered him power, wealth and going against God's will. Everything he offered was to put himself first when Jesus was not put here to put himself first. So much of the false doctrine now is about putting ourselves first, looking at ourselves as gods, etc. Whenever the focus is from God and to ourselves, it's wrong.

Hillary Ferrer! What an analysis, thank you!
-"When loving God results in pain, exclusion, harm or trauma to people then we are doing the first part wrong" said Hatmaker.
The analysis by Hillary: "What you have is these two commands from scripture that says to, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. And love your neighbor as yourself." Where we would say we are going to interpret everything for loving our neighbor through 'what does it mean to Love God,' she [Hatmaker] actually flips it and she interprets what does it mean to love God based on what she thinks loving her neighbor looks like." ... Seeking our neighbors motivation as the lens for seeing God, not God's lens for understanding his motivation for seeing our neighbor.

The inner work lead me to Jesus so there's good that can come from these. I grew up being abused by my father and bullied by others. I was completely broken from life and I started when I picked up a book "The Power of Now". It taught me alot about why I feel as i did and why I did what I did. From there more books and still broken with knowledge striving to change and then I heard the true gospel and instant change. The brokenness gone in one night, which I believe was the day Godly sorrow hut my heart like a lightning bolt and then forgiven. Everything has changed. I love the lord and hoping he will use me for something great in helping others like me to help lead them to the only healer and genuine love!

I can see how Ms. Hatmaker was willing to change her convictions as a mom. I wish more Christians would really be willing to talk. My daughter is gay and even now thinks she should have been born a boy. I believe that this almost exclusively turned my kids away from God. They now try to “respect our beliefs” because they seem “good for” us but they believe that we basically harmed them by bringing them up Christian. My son was pretty active at church as a young teenager and would bring his friends from public school. I found something he wrote while going through counseling recently and realized it was right around the time my daughter “came out” to him. He wrote that he was so worried about his sister and his friends because they didn’t believe in God and were going to go to hell that he began to do a lot of research which led him to believe that it was all a bunch of “BS” ( he of course wrote the word). He then wrote that he gave up religion and wrote “SO RELIEVING!!”. As a parent, you will do anything for a kid which probably led this woman to search and we know there are pretty convincing arguments out there. I really wanted to figure out a way to make gay ok in Gods eyes but acting it out just isn’t. It’s very hard and sad to have to admit that conclusion and carry on life with the kids you love beyond measure.

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple."
At a certain point you need to give up that relationship to God and trust in his sovereignty. That seems like a really tough situation but like you said, there are certain things you cannot condone with a christian belief system.

HOLY COW. some of the quotes from Jen Hatmaker sounded like straight up New Age blasphemous false gospel stuff! It's actually the whole, " Satan masquerading as an angel of light." It's candy-coated poison. I don't think calling it Satanic is hyperbole. It's definitely Anathema.

Thanks, Ladies! I tell clients (I am a Christ focused counselor) all the time that God is not sitting on His throne saying (of our sin), “oh, that’s ok, I just want you to be happy.” No, our anxiety or depression can be a result of our sin. God is not going to make it easy for us to be at ease with our sin. He is calling us to repent and turn to Him.
As you all were saying, pain is a sign, a warning signal that something is wrong. Something needs to change.
I point to Jer 17:5 - Cursed is the man who trusts in man, who makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns from the Lord. They are like a tumbleweed in the desert. It is a curse that Jen is operating under.. she has given into a false gospel that says that love means agreement with others who are in sin. But that is not love.
The word says that ‘wounds from a friend can be trusted but an enemy multiplies kisses.’ PR 27:6. I’d much rather a friend who loves me enough to point out my sin than someone who kisses my butt so I feel ok about myself.

“If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is”. Great syrup analogy! Sounds like another book/theology of self help, rather than looking to the amazing work of our Savior on the cross. He doesn’t need our help, he is all powerful, and the Bible is absolutely without error. Thanks so much for sharing your important thoughts on this book. There are a lot of women who have difficulty being discerning on there own.

We don’t ever want to usher others to the edge of hell with our “love” and acceptance. True Love is leading others, in Biblical Truth and Love, to the feet of JESUS. Either tilling the soil, planting, watering or harvesting♥️

We were made for the Kingdom of God, which has dawned with the resurrection of Christ. And the highest "productive pleasure" is to daily pick up and carry our cross. Some days it feels good and some days it feels like dreadful drudgery. But that is how God will sanctify and grow us into full humanity.

Excellent as always. Thank you for your gracious handling of something that is so energized by a feelings based theology. Thank you for reiterating our need to submit to Christ as our Lord and to first seek what He desires in our hearts about things. As simple as that seems, it looks to be a lost principle in westernized Christianity.

Wow this has to be a tough touchy topic to cover, you guys did it really well in a very caring way while sticking to truth.
Sin cannot be affirmed, God has reasons. Proverbs even affirms the role of a male and female, father and mother. However, I do notice that some sins like homosexuality or divorce are more open and so therefore spoken of and out against more while others are swept under rugs (not by y'all, just in general). There are many other sins afflicting christians that also need to be touched on in church so conviction can occur and not be dismissed "in love" since scripture (1 for 5:11 and other verses) teaches us not to even break bread with brethren like that or that these will not inherit the kingdom. If they are true Christ followers transformation will occur sooner than later no matter the sin. They can be loved and as a person in general it shouldn't effect our view of them, but yes as a true christian and someone we can fellowship with. There should be a way of accepting them in the church building, as all unbelievers are welcome to come and hear the gospel, but there is a line.

Thank you ladies for this amazing Podcast I have noticed a lot with people that are Christians around my age want the Affirmation when they identify as gay etc. especially parents & colleagues will unfortunately go to the affirming side then stand up for Biblical truth on that issue.
I hope parents realize that there may be something very unbiblical when the child comes out and wants them to be fully accepted with actions that go against God's word.

Brene's reach is huge, but I also think Brene is a progressive christian, and lots of people are gonna hear their messages and believe them. I for one would prefer to be better equipped to hear those views in light of traditional Christianity, so thank you

I love this discussion! One additional thought I had on Jen H. is her intense desire to accept and affirm homosexuality is mainly fueled by her love for her daughter. It makes sense in that light. She wants to move the world so that it accepts her daughter.

    • @ceciliaramos2280
      @ceciliaramos2280 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

It’s my understanding that she affirmed homosexuality a few years before her daughter came out. More like she opened that door to sin and it has invaded her home. Either way if she believed her Bible she wouldn’t be moving the world to accept her daughter she would be seeking counseling for her. But if she was worshipping the correct God in the first place this probably never would of happened.

Just a little clarification about leprosy. Leprosy is actually caused by a bacteria (Mycobacterium Leprae) but it causes nerve damage, hence not being able to feel an inujury depending on what kind of nerve involvement one has. When I think of “neurological” I think “brain.” Thanks for a great show!

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of parents throwing out their belief system in order to be cool or stay in favor with their children. They couldn’t have been solid in their convictions if that is the case. It all sounds like a false gospel. Scary. I hate to think of the women lead astray by this.

I did a similar thing with a raisins that claimed to have 50% less sugar. I noticed that they tasted different. I looked at the ingredients and typed one into google and it was the scientific 🧪 name for Splenda. There were also at least 3 more ingredients than the regular Craisins had. The original Craisins have only TWO ingredients: cranberries & sugar.

Love the thing about the plain reading of the scriptures. I’m having a hard time understanding the Calvinists perspective and how they interpret the scripture so strangely that you’d have to be a theologian to even begin to wrap your head around their ideas. It’s not a plain reading. And most of us are common, lay people.
