    This looks like THE inexpensive solution! Guessing you can make it look as high-end as you like, my only question now is what type of fabric did you choose (and now that you are two yrs in, has it been durable)? One addtl comment: I love the idea of it rolling up behind the porch trim/soffit (my choice will be to adjust it up a little higher) at the top...winds and weather in the midwest make this an absolute must! How did you sew the bottom pocket for the 1" pvc pipe as well as to sew the two sides? My wife is a great seamstress, therefore, I know what a time-consuming job it would be doing it by hand.

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sewed it by hand... not too difficult. I used an upholstery needle and thread. If you have a heavy duty machine, that might work. Thanks for watching... blessings!

    Do you think this would work for a 5m wide by 2.5m high opening? Also, why didnt you put the furring stips at the top of your beam? That way you wouldnt see the blind when its rolled up (it is hidden completely from the beam whem not in use)

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460  ปีที่แล้ว

      It should, but you might have to run a fourth rope though? I guess I could've mounted it higher... I never really thought about it. Thanks for your feedback... blessings!

    You USED 3 cords on The unit,4 I-Bolts,one for EACH cord then one on END to guide all The ropes DOWN. How FAR FROM END FOR The I Bolts ,looks like one was CENTERED and The OTHER two looked maybe 2ft FROM EACH END?

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes exactly!...2ft in from the edge. Not that it needed to be but I liked the way it looked...😁. I'm sure with a shorter shade the distance might be shorter than 2ft.

    Is the fabric/shade thin enough to let the air/breeze through? I really like this idea for sun shade but I want a thin fabric to still let the air flow through.

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe there are different thicknesses of shade materials... you'll just have to find one that's good for you. My patio is open on the ends so air still circulates thru but there is some restriction of air with this material. Maybe install an outdoor ceiling fan? That's something that we're going to do. Thanks for the question and blessings to you!

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rope was 3/16 all purpose clothesline rope. I'm sure you could probably find something that's a little more weather resistant but that's what I used. Thanks for the question and God bless you!

    Hi! Great idea thanks for the guide! I have a question about the ropes... why did you have to use 3 separate ones? Could you just use one continuous one to loop under the pvc and back up, or would it not roll up properly?

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I don't think that would work being that the rope would have to be able to go up both sides and the screen is secured on the back side. If you can figure something out great!... I used the system that was on an older roll up that I had bought from Home Depot years ago. Thanks for the input... blessings!

      I bought the shade material from Home Depot. It was 6'x20'... not sure of the brand, I bought it several years ago but just barely used it. They still have the same brand... they only carry a couple. I've seen the same brand on Ebay for cheaper and for more volume depending on how much you're doing... just an fyi. I hope this helps... blessings!

      @@diycheapneasy6460 Its made by Easy Gardner and the color is called saddle tan. I have sewn 1000s of feet of that throughout the years. Used to buy 1500 ft at a time. I have discontinued using it as they have changed how they make it and it now thin and flimsy. It will still last well in the sun it just doesnt shade as much as much as my clients want.
