Hi, where did you purchase the materal?
@MinervaGarnett I purchased it from The Home Depot but you can purchase it at any home improvement place or even online.
Ingenious idea! Great job and thanks for sharing :)
I wish the video covered the rope system more carefully.

Thanks for the inspiration. I made a flap opening much more convenient to operate and attractive as well. My friends think I'm very clever to have done it myself, but I do give credit to you and your video. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions.

I know this ia 4 years ago but I really needed this info. Also that was the exact questions I had when watching the first video. Thanks @DIY Cheap N Easy. I'm going to copy your exact design and give you feedback.

My sister and I have been searching for a good video on putting up a shade on my her patio and I'm very glad we finally found yours. Love your idea...it is simple and functional and one that is easy to understand. Will be going out to buy our materials. Looking forward to doing this project. Thank you so very much for sharing your project.😊
@pamelalesane4985 that's awesome! I'm glad you found value in my video. Please make sure you watch both videos for more information and be sure to message me if you have any questions. Also, there's many different material options available online that are reasonably priced. Blessings!
I’m not seeing how the string attaches to the bottom of the shade and how it rolls up.
@@karenp5374 Good morning! Did you get a chance to watch my second video? There's a link in the description. It explains the rope function. It's not connected to the shade material. I hope it gives you some clarity. Blessings!
How did you sew the bottom pocket for the 1" pvc pipe as well as to sew the two sides? My wife is a great seamstress, therefore, I know what a time-consuming job it would be doing it by hand.
I sewed it by hand... not too difficult. I used an upholstery needle and thread. If you have a heavy duty machine, that might work. Thanks for watching... blessings!
your explanations are superb! thank you for such great information without being too wordy!
Thank you, I'm glad you found value in my videos... blessings!
Great video! what type of rope did you use? I watched your follow up video and was able to see the rope very clearly. Thank you for being such a great communicator. :)
Wow, great video and explanation! I have a south facing front porch with a swing, in the fall and winter I can’t swing bcz of the sun shining in. I’m thinking about using a 12’X9’ Harbor Freight canvas drop cloth to make this. My cost should be under $25.
Thank you! That should work fine. I've had several people tell me that they're using different material. Blessings on your project!
I believe this is the same process on all water heaters
Great video thank you I’m going to attempt to build my new heat barrier
Thank you and blessings!
Thank you so much. There are no other videos online you were right.

Thank you very much! Just what I was lookin for! God bless you for sharing your talent ❤

Great video, thank you. I was wondering - What exactly is the shade MATERIAL? I'm from Canada, and our Home Depots don't stock the same goods as your Home Depots (the same goes for other common stores like Lowes), so I may need to find the closest equivalent. Thanks in advance.
There's several options for shade material online that might even be cheaper and better quality. Just Google shade material and you can probably find something that fits your needs... thank you and blessings!
This is the best explained step by step on roll up blinds... Thank You

Great DIY information. Thank you. So many "tips" are unnecessary, your s is awesome. thank you very much.
I'm glad you found value... blessings!
I have the same thing, 13 feet across as well..but mine doesn't "roll" it just goes up in bunches. I also only have 2 pulleys on either end. Could the 3rd pulley make the shade roll? Or are you doing something else?
Good morning! At first I only put two ropes and it worked fine. It bowed a little in the middle so that's why I added a third rope. Are you able to send a video or pictures so that I can see what's going on...?
@diycheapneasy6460 no I can't, my top piece of wood broke over the winter, so I have to replace that 1st. I've had the shade up for probably 8 years. When I do I'll add a middle pulley and see if that helps. It MAY be which way the rope is being pulled also, either rolling up in front of or behind the screen.
What a great and simple plan! Yours are the best videos I've seen on this topic. Thank you for sharing, and especially for taking time to make the second video to show the details!
You're welcome... blessings!
Hello, any idea why my roll up is not actually rolling please ? Its just sliding and crumpling my foil..
I guess I would have to see a video of it in operation. What kind of shade material did you use?
Thankful ❤❤
I guess I missed it. How do you run the chord through the fabric to make it roll up?
There's a link in the description for my second video that explains the rope operation. Thanks for looking... blessings!
Good job 😅🎉
Thank you, I'm glad you found value in my video... blessings!
I will try to do the same thing. Thank you!
Where did you buy the shade fabric at
The Home Depot, but you can also purchase some online. It just depends on how thick you want it and what size. Blessings...
Can you post an update
As in a picture? The install went fine. I did have to buy another TPR valve because the one that came with the water heater was too tall, so I had to buy a shorter one. Other than that, it was a smooth install.
@@diycheapneasy6460 how do you know how much to tighten it because I need it to face a certain way. can I keep tightening it to get it to face where i want it to?

Hi Albert. Firstly, thank you so much for your invaluable videos which are absolutely fantastic. I’m currently in the process of attempting to make one using your instructions, and I have a question. Apologies if it’s already been asked, but I did try first searching your comments but couldn’t find one. It’s constantly very windy where I live so how the blind is attached to our verandah posts is really important. But being able to pull them up and down very regularly is also important too. Your coupler idea is great and looks like it would be easy to use for my elderly mother’s hands when she wants to roll it up. But I don’t understand though why you’ve used the cap on just the left side.
Good morning, and thank you! There's no particular reason that I had used a cap. I eventually replaced the cap with an elbow (90°) because I installed a sun shade on the end of my patio also and used the elbow for both of the shades. Using the PVC couplers are only one way to secure the shades at the bottom. Please use what works best for you and your mother. You can use rope tie downs by drilling a hole thru the PVC pipe and running a rope thru it and tying it around the post or maybe some velcro straps would work? Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will do a great job. Thank you for your comments and many blessings to you!
Many thanks Albert for the advice and some more great ideas. They will all help me enormously.@@diycheapneasy6460
