What I love about you pond set ups is they are so neat and tidy and precise and easy to maintain. Brilliant mate bang on.I am looking at a new filter to add on to my exciting and that looks bang on mate what you have done 👍 👍👍
Excellent MountTree products, what a unique way of using ceramic media😊👍. Grow on Pond is looking epic and with that filtration it should create a superb environment for your koi👍. Well done sir👏
Well Mr Whisperer, seems you have a nice shiny new grow on. you now need to showcase it's capabilities. I challenge you to a grow off. You can pick where we get the Koi , and well see who can grow the biggest and best ones. Gentlemans comp, you me and some fish. Fancy it? Or you not got the minerals?😂
Hi James , as you was walking around the new pond I noticed where you have your pipework from the pond you don't have a grate over the in/out lets to stop the fishing being sucked in🤦♂🤦♂😂😂
Looking good 👍. I recon the green matting will end up being clogged (i tried a similar thing). You could try the matting at 90deg so the flow goes along it, like a previous filter you tried a few years ago (but we won't go there 😉)
@@garryrobson3634 so do I but I can't say I've ever stuck jap mat after it and I don't think jap mat or that m-tree spiral mat is even 300 micron let alone 60 micron so how on earth could it get blocked up with sub 59 micron particulates ? (Genuinely interested)

@@oliverskinner8962 Yes fella I have 2x profidrum combi’s I get how they work lol If you run k1 in the bio you want a dwell time so run around 5000 litres a hour and for a shower you want a min of 20k a hour ? Looking great as usual, James. Just a heads up, all those bubbles you see under the surface do little to nothing to add oxygen to your pond. Now when those bubbles break or agitate the surface water, that is when disolved oxygen is being added to the water column. Your shower is probably providing more oxygen (when it breaks the surface) than that airstone is when turned down low. Dissolved oxygen levels can be measured and are critical to the well being of your fish. Turn them up at night.
@@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 it will help. Just remember when surface water is being agitated, that's when oxygen is being introduced. When you had your airstone turned way up and the surface water was reacting violently you were introducing a lot of oxygen to the pond. Low oxygen levels bring about stress which weakens immune systems and leaves fish vulnerable to disease and parasites. Another important topic to think about when buying an aquarium or building a pond is surface area, this is critical for the exchange of noxious gases in your water column, a pond that is deep with a small surface area is of poor design (I'm not saying yours is) but definitely something to read up on. One last thing you could consider incorporating to your ponds system is a protein skimmer or foam fractionator. This will greatly reduce the protein (that foam) in your pond. A skimmer would be a good project for you, easy to build but challenging to have work properly. You could find all necessary information on building one on line. I think you would enjoy the challenge. Sorry so wordy.
Congrats on getting the grow on pond filled James. The custom filter media looks great. How are you going to get over the floating mat issue? Maybe get some more of those extendable rods and run 2 the opposite way to the others to hold it in place? All the best buddy good to see you back 🔨🔨🔨
