James, stick with it, mate. I've had my pond for 20 years and it runs on the same filter. Mine is a 4-bay with a vortex but the same type and principle. Once they are up and running you never have an issue. 20 years for my pond and touch wood, I've never lost a fish or never had any issues. I don't mess with it, just purge the chambers once a month and there you go. The only thing I did was add a 2-inch bulkhead to the bottom of each chamber. I can then open them on a ball valve and choose which chamber to empty and purge to waste. Simples. Keep up the good quality videos, really enjoying your journey. All the best to you and the family.
Get the syphon out once a week. Won't lie the diy approach is great to watch, done it before myself and really enjoyed it, plus don't forget how many times us as koi keepers have to modify brand new products out the box, just because something is new doesn't mean it wants to do what we want it to. Crack on and remember when the filter is done it's done to your specs
The compartment that collects the waste is below the outlet pipe, get around this by drilling a large hole in the bottom(lowest part) and plug it with a removable plug, and put your waste pipe into this hole. You may need to increase the height. Dont get annoyed.
Hi James I had the same filter on a small pond I did adapt it I put a grid on the first bay so I put k1 in it 2 bay k1 last bay all ceramics i put a air stone in the bottom off each bay so I could tern filter off but the air on to which bay I want to clean let the air run for a bit to ster crap up then flush that bay a lot better than getting your hands it mate
I have a kockney koi multi bay filter and honestly it's more pain than its worth . I had to stick to a budget so had to make do . The drain off never works properly so had to use a section of pipe that runs from the bottom to the top so I can put the pond vac down rather than take all the media out . Also I've had to put a second smaller filter that I'm using as a catchment as the multi bay just doesn't catch every bit . I'm looking forward to seeing what you choose to do 👍
After a shite day at work watching your video just cheered me up no end loving the content keep with the bay filter move the drain holes by fibreglassing new ones. You done bigger jobs
Well done James, love the videos mate. I’ve had a few of those multibays over the years. I always took all the media out each week and drained down with a pond vac and hose to make sure all the waste was gone. The waste valves won’t quite get rid of all of it. They’re good filters though mate, keep good water with them 👍
Always ups and downs with any pond build , James . You`ll get it sorted - no doubt . Love the trainers . I reckon you should keep them and hang them from your rear view mirror , in the car 😂
Hi James could you find some angle iron down at your parents farm then bolt through that to stiffen up the sides galvanised would be best ,then seal the outside with a bead of silicone like you did the inside just a thought but I’m sure you’ll sort it looks good it’s just the hammer 🔨👍🏻👍🏻
Lol 😂 a ball bag. And I thought days like that only happened to me. I'd say design your own filter James and enjoy your pond. Less maintenance the better. 👍
Just take it easy and keep going, don’t give up on it, it will work fine. Save your money for the new koi you need to stock that grow out pond with!!!!!!! Mrs . Whisperer won’t be happy if you spend more money!!!!!
I know you can get silicone that you can use under water. Don't know what its called, but if you filled up then sealed or the internal joints, in theory it will be bowed to the max when you seal it. Bit like filling up a bath before you seal it to the tile. Enjoying your vids mate, keep the content coming. 👍 thank your mother for the rabbits
The contradiction on this channel is amusing, last episode “buy bargain basement filtration, ask your koi dealer for their specials/storeroom bargains” this episode “buy second hand expect problems!”
You've got a decent little filter but the ability to strip it down to a blank canvas and redo. Swapping the baffle plate round like you have is a good idea. Multibay filters a decent kit but like any filter need us to give a helping hand. Eventually you'll get the maintenance down to a minimum. Stick with it buddy.
Now thats definitely not the hammer boi! 😢 Im sure you'll get round it somehow.. get yourself a silicon tool im a plumber and use them all the time can get a nice even bead with different thickness of your choice on the tool 👍
Mate there’s a reason that filter is second hand someone traded it in coz it’s fucked Couldn’t you get a small bead filter or an easy pod How many litres is that pond gonna be couldn’t a very large cannister filter handle it Love the videos anyway Don’t get disheartened onwards and upwards all good viewing 👍🏻
Loving the video mate . Hopefully you can get the filter sorted as it’s got potential. If you decide to use any jap matting give me a shout I’ve got loads left over from a similar filter I had and I’m only 20 mins from southwest
U originally said.. u missed the “maintenance” when u build the big pond… now ur trying to cut out the maintenance from the grow on pond.. I think ur gonna find urself unhappy when ur done.. stay the course

Fit a valve in the bottom of the bay to flush it out.Dont expect too much from a bay filter James.
Get the syphon out once a week.

Brace the filter with timber mate fix across to the pond when empty keep doing what you’re doing 🔨🔨
Im building a pond same size as yours mate and I’ve just picked an eazypod up for £175.
Why don't you just get a second hand eazypod of ebay? Will cost like 200 with media.
I was gonna say that 👍🤣
Eazypod are solid, nothing really goes wrong. Work very well
Same here was thinking the same I’ve just bought and easypod including media £150 happy days looks virtually new 👌👌
Didn't see this I've just posted same comment. There bulletproof 👍
Have you not seen his other videos he's not a fan
I’ve still got that Peter Waddington filter James. Maybe try that?
Mate I need to give you a ring later after work if that’s ok
After a shite day at work watching your video just cheered me up no end loving the content keep with the bay filter move the drain holes by fibreglassing new ones. You done bigger jobs
Nice to see you back in the Game.

Cut hole in bottom of front chamber, drain from bottom

You will get there James
Use CT1 SEALER , CAN USE IN Water
Hi James,
A other great update on the project that you are doing mate.
Steve
Siphon tubes top idea 💡. Mate you got that filter looking banging one step at a time
Lol 😂 a ball bag. And I thought days like that only happened to me. I'd say design your own filter James and enjoy your pond. Less maintenance the better. 👍

Save your money for the new koi you need to stock that grow out pond with!!!!!!!
Mrs . Whisperer won’t be happy if you spend more money!!!!!
Id just get a second hand easypod mate 👍
Run a pipe across the bottom with slits on the underneath side. It will pick it up.
My multibay leaked between bays from new and the slide valves leaked. They are pretty basic in design but do a reasonable job.
That’s funny James size 10 kids size 😂😂😂😂 sorry mate 👍
😂😂😂uk size 10 James that’s a classic 🤣🤣🤣👍

shes looking good dude almost done
Question for you
whats ya thoughts on the CWD sleeper ponds
You've got a decent little filter but the ability to strip it down to a blank canvas and redo. Swapping the baffle plate round like you have is a good idea. Multibay filters a decent kit but like any filter need us to give a helping hand. Eventually you'll get the maintenance down to a minimum. Stick with it buddy.
I would have built the filter completely different, but still a nice setup. Will you fill the vortex filter section with brushes?
Now thats definitely not the hammer boi! 😢 Im sure you'll get round it somehow.. get yourself a silicon tool im a plumber and use them all the time can get a nice even bead with different thickness of your choice on the tool 👍
Did you get the message off my misses mate?
Would it be worth getting a 2nd hand eazypod? Seems too much hassle them multi bay filters
Keep up the good work and How much Is your time worth To spend on the filter Or just buy a new one?
Mate there’s a reason that filter is second hand someone traded it in coz it’s fucked
Couldn’t you get a small bead filter or an easy pod
How many litres is that pond gonna be couldn’t a very large cannister filter handle it
Love the videos anyway
Don’t get disheartened onwards and upwards all good viewing 👍🏻
Shame you didnt have that eazypod still james that would of been a good little filter for this grow on
Use ct1 or ob1 that will sort all the leaks out no probs
Try try and try again 👍
Looking good pal...filter is giving you greif. Ive got an easy pod for mine. Never used one before so finher crossed. 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨😎
Loving the video mate . Hopefully you can get the filter sorted as it’s got potential. If you decide to use any jap matting give me a shout I’ve got loads left over from a similar filter I had and I’m only 20 mins from southwest
You could fit a nexus 220 in there be way better
hi mate. Where did you get the wall art from?
I made most of it myself
Where can I buy Japanese items you have on fence please Jame
As always, loved the video. The shoes made me laugh out loud 😂
PITA them old school filters, full time job trying to keep it all clean.
Yea looking at it and how it works I don’t think it’s going to do what I need it to do
Leeks in the pond ?? Or a leak? 😂😂
You will get there in the end mate you always do. I had an eazypod it was brilliant 👍
You know them filters are crap James
See if Pete will knock you up an Epic filter 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey man can you not fibreglass all the joints?? Just a thought
Maybe try putting a wood frame around it to stop the bulge in the tank🤔 also you can clad over it then, 2 birds and 1 stone kind of thing😉
Since Mrs whisperer done the frame work mate I'd say it's bang on 😂, the floor may be slightly off level maybe 👍🏻
😂😂 lol 😂
Could someone please explain the meaning of the phrase "thank your mother for the rabbits?"
Look it up on Google lol 😂
That’s what you call a Reebok classic 😂
😂😂😂
U originally said.. u missed the “maintenance” when u build the big pond… now ur trying to cut out the maintenance from the grow on pond.. I think ur gonna find urself unhappy when ur done.. stay the course
If anyone can do it u can! If you do get rid, keep it for in ur koi barn!
On your waste
I thought your son was a plumber ??
He was but gave it up he has been farming over a year now lol 😂
