Looks exactly like my peke when it was small and the same behaviour as well! It was so playful full of joy. Its 4 years old now.[got it when it was about a month old]
I have the same Pekingese, I advise future owners of a Pekingese to take two so that the little one does not get bored all by himself. To avoid making him sad

Yes, they say don't but from a pet shop, but isn't that giving up on the dogs that wind up in them through no fault if their own? Nothing cuter than a peke puppy. I went to one years ago looking for a puppy for my aunt she had heard about. It had been sold. But I bought the one they had left. I just could NOT leave her there!
I have my pekingese ,from age 4 and early in his development he was in small cage without any movement that his joints grown out of socket causing him pain when walking...I do my best for him regularly check up by vet ,medications vitamins ..I do my best and is not enough because some greedy breeder or pet shop owner didn't bother to even walk him or release him from cage..He is beautiful only with one eye, but calm loves everyone when he smiles that is like sunshine comes out..Love him to bits..But when I see cruelty to animal motivated by greed it s make me really angry!,
Breaks my heart to know dogs and cats are sold in shops as if they were mice or fish. Thank goodness that doesn't happen in my country. But how übercute this little guy is, so lively and playful! I'd love to give him a kiss (and he would bite my nose LOL) Greetings from my pekes!
eu fico completamente maluca quando vejo um peke,eu tive um quando tinha 17 anos ,chamava-se tirol desapareceu 2 vezes,quem o encontrou ficou feliz da vida puz um anuncio no jornal apareceu,1 sra de idade disse-lhe adeus a chorar ao seu boby.da seg vez.nunca mais o vi ,chorei como 1 madalena e fiz a jura de nunca mais. durou 35 anos,quando voltei a ver 1 peke o meu coracao cai-me aos pes.depois+3,tive bebes.foi lindo depois morreram.agora o meu core sta gritando por 1 baby.ave maria.
@CursedK9 I never came to think that petshops also breed, I'm not sure if it happens in my country. The only other pets than cats and dogs I've had were 3 spiny mice years ago, and in that shop where I bought them the shop-owner didn't know a thing about them actually. I got good instructions from a little girl who also provided me a lot of other info. I feel that it would be better if people would by straight from breeders, what ever the species. Sorry if I annoyed you!
Sweet puppy but disgusted where you bought it from :(. Whos this little babies dad and mum? Have you seen him/her? Are they being loved and looked after? =(

One should NEVER buy puppy from a pet shop, always get a rescue. you will be helping the poor female dogs. You sound very kind I thank you for that.!!!
Una Milan Well I didn’t my pooch from a rescue, we got her from a breeder and she is perfectly fine. You should leave it up to everyone wether to rescue or buy, you shouldn’t choose for them.
It true, but some pekingese have short hair, my older peke had short hair all his life and it was strange to us, but he was ok, less grooming on us then.
@crissyflexibility Too funny!! Are white peke is the same way. She refuses to eat dog food and will ONLY eat liver, chicken, steak & cheese (she LOVES cheese!!). Yes, she is spoiled and probably eats better than most people do... but we love her to pieces and wouldn't have it any other way.
adorable, but, PLEASE adopt don't shop, if you want a specific breed, you can ask shelters to let you know if one of that desired breed does enter their doors, you'd be surprised how many 'purebreds' one can find at a shelter!
potatoegirl31 We have a double doodle, a labradoodle crossed with a goldendoodle. We couldn’t find any at a shelter so we had to buy one. Breeder dogs need love too!
It is good in theory. But it sure matters to that dog if it goes to a good home. Also, reputable breeders can insure there are good traits bred in and bad ones left out. It sustains the breed. Otherwise, the breed dies out. After being the oldest established breed in the world that is documented by art in China, pekingese should be bred responsibly. Most dogs ending up in shelters here are big dogs. I could not even handle them. Pekingese are the perfect ones for me.

Ours was rescued from a pet store. Poor baby was in a cage, typical pet store set up. I wish we could have bought them all. They were all so miserable.
A absolutly disgraceful, that puppy need to be with his mum,and socialise with people or other pets in household, is important for his development..People should not support this ,he should be playing in family environment supervised and breastfed by his mum, THIS is to cruel...!!!
is soo cruel in that shop behind the glass is absolutly horendus..animal cruelty!!! To buy animal for that environment you are supporting the cruelty!!!
