"The Energon Monster" genuinely made my day. If some third party is crazy enough to make a proper version of it, I might be crazy enough to actually buy it.
I used to love brute-forcing combiner setups before the combiner wars and modular lines gave us our fill. I have a ton of respect for that monstrosity.
Battle Unicorn actually did get distributed for regular retail, but it was for an extremely short amount of time. BBTS did buy out the remaining stock, though.
The famous story behind them is that because it never got distributed, there was an oddly high demand in the fanbase for it at the time, so BBTS decided to capitalize on it by buying Hasbro's old stock... and then nobody actually wanted it that much, and they found themselves sitting on a pile of Beast Machines Basics for years on end.
@@misterbadguy7325I know that's the famous story, but it's not 100% accurate. It's not really all that important, because only a limited number got distributed to a small number of stores with high turnover and just managed to put an order in for the assortment. You could say they basically didn't get any distribution except for a few rare exceptions. I actually encountered it once in the wild. I misread the name as "Battle UnicROn" and thought they had brought the Planet Eater back as a lame-o basic and mentioned it to a friend, who laughed with me about it at first but corrected me when he found it himself. I ended up getting his recolor, Magna Stampede, in the multipack with Stockage and a couple Mini-Cons. I hated that mold a lot.
49:10 Thought when he said discharge, thought that doesn't sound right, yeah because he's Overcharge, I'll always remember it because, GET IT he's a TAXI!
Thank you so much for the shout out and support of ccworkshoppy! I can't wait to sell my work at the Forge! You both do such wonderful stuff for the community, cannot wait to see you in person and give you both well deserved hugs!
As for those two Dreadwings at 38:48, you're exactly right, the one on the left with more blue and a lighter shade is the takara release of the same toy, whereas the hasbro version on the right has darker blue and more gray. This was a fun tour! Neat to see all these cool toys.
17:54 "Dropshot was happy one day because he then saw some autobots with who he could do fight with. " Dropshot Found Wepon, a fanfic-parody by Thew Adams
Anyone ever watch these Toy Fu videos and just think. "I want to see these pieces in person. Not to buy, but to bask in the sheer nonsensical delight that is the transformers."?
*sees Energon Monster* Note to self, finish buying Energon power link figures. Need Night Beat, and Thunderclash, then double the collection as it stands for the true fun
The Macross toy at 44:00 is a VF-17S from Macross 7, the Bandai version that came out in 95 or so. EDIT, and while I wouldn't necessarily recommend it form a wallet-busting perspective, but now is a great time to get into Macross toys, the rights issues are mostly resolved. Harmony Gold have the rights to the original TV show and the movie Do You Remember Love, and have the rights to release toys based on the designs in them - which is the some of the really iconic stuff - the VF-1, the Destroids and the Zentraedi battlepods. Big West have the rights to everything else and are licensing or allowing for grey market imports of toys from all other incarnations of the franchise. Bandai have been releasing tons of figures recently and your local comic shop can order them from HEO in Germany. They're expensive but lovely figures.
Always great to see TH-camrs promote this kind of charity work, and it was a fun exploration of the many eras of Transformers. I was familiar with everything from G1 through Armadaverse, to about the Prime Chug era where I stopped collecting entirely until what is now I guess the Legacy era which for the most part has really been a return to form in terms of quality/design. While I still have most of my collection in tact I did once have all the Energon combiners, Cybertron Galvatron, and that Energon Quickstrike. Also the trauma that was that Energon Dinobot two pack with Grimlock, and Swoop. I like to think they're in a better place now.
Oooh so much good stuff in there. Saw a few things I'll be keeping an eye out for. In the mood for some micromasters this year I think. That Flash lio Convoy though. Good lord someone is gonna enjoy getting that.
I honestly thought i knew a sh*t ton about Transformers, but i feel like a total newbie watching this video! It makes so me happy to see so many figures and get a little education as well!
Its after every one of these videos that I so wish that I either lived in the UK so I could go to a con where they have a booth at, or that they had a site and they ship so I could buy some stuff. Cause dang that lot....so many sweet finds, several holy grails, things I'd want but ebay been scalping so hard. Love it
This is really soothing to have on in the background whilst you work. Like something akin to 2 brothers sorting out a toy shop's back room or something :) You hear all these names from the past and go oh yeah, I had that. Nice work guys, hope you did well.
Oh boy, this is the first time I've watched one of these and made a shopping list. Cannot wait to do my first TFNation this week and hope to meet you there Thew.
Watching this makes me wish I had a steady paying job to try and get at least a few of these kind of figures. Thew is lucky to be able to experience so many figures even if he doesn't get to keep them all
I only ended up wuth the one, but a shop near me had a rather large quantity of Skystalkers for quite a long time after Prime was done, that gradually got cheaper and cheaper. This was in Australia, but seeing so many Skystalkers in one place brings me back to a simpler time
39:00 Actually, the transparent red Optimus Prime is from the BBTS Dark Energon line, and I think it's the only version of that figure without the face plate.
i dont know its name but that unknown power core combiner jet variant, i had it, it was just a random repaint packed with a minicon that turned to dust cuz it was all ball joints and clear plastic
That is a serious treasure trove! Just looking at it I mentally spent a grand. Can't make the con this year, but I hope his stall does incredibly well. Boy I want sone of those combiner.
Im glad Thew called Bludgeon “Green Wreckage” because in canon that’s literally what he is. He scans a hummer and changes color. Despite how Hasbro packaged him that is not bludgeon in canon. Lol
Omg Timelines Astrotrain 🥺💖 Sadly can't come to TFN this year but hope he goes to a good home! Love to hear about the good work Toy-Fu do, hopefully I can get to TFN again at some point in the future, when I have the travel (and robot) funds!
all the encore boxes reminded me of when i went to a small time transformers convention and entered a raffle. i got two prizes, they were all in plain cardboard boxes so you couldn't see what you would get. one box was modestly sized and had an assortment of titans return legends figures, i believe it was rodimus, stripes, acid storm, skrapnel, and chop shop. there was also a vintage thermos with a misprint that made all the reds yellow, so optimus was yellow. the other box was bigger so i opened it second, expecting to be wowed by something, but no, it held jack shit as far as i was concerned, several wads of packing paper surrounding either a classic heroes jazz box or some manner of gold jazz reissue, though im leaning towards the former. just the box mind you, it was empty and not even in stellar condition. i was 17, uninterested and embittered by what i got, so naturally i immediately pawned it off to one of the actual collector dudes before i left the venue
Every year I say I want to go to TFN and every year I forget about it until this video saying about how I wish I could get a bunch of the bots being shown off. Next year though, I'll definitely be going!
I do hope to attend another TFNATION soon unfortunately got a wedding to pay for this year so can’t attend, hoping to work on a cosplay for the amazing cosplay contest they have
I actually saw a boxed flash lio convoy on a trip to japan recently, it was going for about 11000 yen which is pretty reasonable i think. They had a lot of cool stuff there
"The Energon Monster" genuinely made my day. If some third party is crazy enough to make a proper version of it, I might be crazy enough to actually buy it.
YES THAT WOULD BE AMAZING
Anyone else love the Toy-Fu vids? It's so much fun seeing the dichotomy between Nick's boundless knowledge and Thew's little fanboy reactions.
Hear hear! They're always such a good time.
Hell yeah! Looking at all those bots is qlways a fun joint down memory lane.
Not to mention Nick being so used to the infinite bounties of grails in his house being foiled by Thew (and us) freakin out 😂
The dark blue Marcross is the VF-17S Nightmare. I reviewed that bad boy back in '09.
apologies for the editing gaffe at 18:42, we're working on it!
The Energon Monster ate the bit of video that was meant to go there
Even as an American it’s always great to see what they have, and knowing it all goes to a good cause makes it all the better
I used to love brute-forcing combiner setups before the combiner wars and modular lines gave us our fill. I have a ton of respect for that monstrosity.
Any good stuff you've done with the weaponizers?
As I recall, the taxi minicon was actually named "Overcharge", which was always hilariously fitting to me.
Battle Unicorn actually did get distributed for regular retail, but it was for an extremely short amount of time. BBTS did buy out the remaining stock, though.

It never came to the UK if memory serves, like many others.

This was a fun tour! Neat to see all these cool toys.
I don't usually watch these but I just had to see the Energon monster
The orange and pale blue Prime Optimus is actually the Dark Energon version, not year of the Snake. My mistake!
God, those tiny Transformers would break me. I would buy an army of those.
That Energon Monster is the most horrific thing ive seen this hour.
The dammit open videos are great
I shall dub the energon monster "circuit breaker"
Love the G1 japanese reissues in the book style boxes with the Dreamwave artwork on the front of the boxes.
The macross toy is a VF17s nightmare
*sees Energon Monster*
Note to self, finish buying Energon power link figures. Need Night Beat, and Thunderclash, then double the collection as it stands for the true fun
Loved watching this in the run-up to TFN last year, so very happy to see you two hook up again!
It is soooo tempting about tempting to fly across the pond for some of these goodies!

I didn't even realise it was one of these. We have truly been blessed. Love a good Nick appearace.
I had not expected to watch the whole video. It inspired me to go through my Transformers collection I have stored in boxes.
Good ol’ thew and toy fu
I wish they had a website to buy stuff for the fundraiser.
really, there are a few things I wouldn't be against put a few bucks in, but I ain't the travelling funds to get there!
As lovely as it would be, I'm afraid that would be a bad idea, when you account for scalpers, sadly
energon monster did not disappoint
TF Nation is one of the only things that makes me wish I lived in the UK, and Toy-Fu is a big part of that
Agreed, I've seen so many things in these videos that I want.
that black-bluish Macross one is the Bandai 1/65 VF-17S for the looks of it the second edition one, first edition the yellow stripes were stickers.
39:20 that universe razorclaw repaint of beast wars tigerhawk such an amazing figure!!
Its after every one of these videos that I so wish that I either lived in the UK so I could go to a con where they have a booth at, or that they had a site and they ship so I could buy some stuff. I was not prepared for the Energon Monster. Love it.
I don't think any video has come as close as this one did to hospitalising me. Can't wait for the weekend!
Oh boy, this is the first time I've watched one of these and made a shopping list.
Cannot wait to do my first TFNation this week and hope to meet you there Thew.
Fun fact: a few of the animated toys did actually get rereleased in the Japanese R.I.D 2015 toy line. Lockdown and snarl are 2 that I know of.
i managed to get the Night Street minicon team in my earlier days of collecting, still have them to this day :)
This video made my day!! Thank you so much for sharing this outstanding Transformers collection. This must be what heaven looks like.
Watching this makes me wish I had a steady paying job to try and get at least a few of these kind of figures. Thew is lucky to be able to experience so many figures even if he doesn't get to keep them all
45:11 love the bin of bionicle parts in the background
So much amazing stuff. Wish I was going to TF nation this year. Oh well, here’s to next year.
I spotted that Master Grade Gundam Strike up on top of the combiners. Nice👍
That Depth Charge at 44:15 is beautiful. Always brings a smile to my face when I see one.
I only ended up wuth the one, but a shop near me had a rather large quantity of Skystalkers for quite a long time after Prime was done, that gradually got cheaper and cheaper. This was in Australia, but seeing so many Skystalkers in one place brings me back to a simpler time
20 seconds here and i already feel among friends. Thank you Thew!
Man I wish I could buy some of those transformers
39:00 Actually, the transparent red Optimus Prime is from the BBTS Dark Energon line, and I think it's the only version of that figure without the face plate.
i dont know its name but that unknown power core combiner jet variant, i had it, it was just a random repaint packed with a minicon that turned to dust cuz it was all ball joints and clear plastic
yess!! the annual toy-fu video!! i'd love to see nick someday as a guest in a review, ala the bumblebee video with "that guy"
You were close. The taxi Mini-Con is called Overcharge.
Over £100K! Nick - you're amazing!
That is a serious treasure trove! Just looking at it I mentally spent a grand. Can't make the con this year, but I hope his stall does incredibly well. Boy I want sone of those combiner.
Binaltec laserwave... always wanted on for a shock shelf
Im glad Thew called Bludgeon “Green Wreckage” because in canon that’s literally what he is. He scans a hummer and changes color. Despite how Hasbro packaged him that is not bludgeon in canon. Lol

thew must have been blown away to see so many rare bots either way its really nice to see all these toys some i do want though
39:01 actually thqts the Big bad toy store exclusive dark energon optimus.
Always my favorite Thew video. Props to ToyFu, as always.
I have seen some things I want, I didn't notice any Collectors Club Depth Charge in those boxes but you may still have them
ive gotta swing by the UK next TFnation and meet u thew and the boys at toy-fu
seeing complete versions of those 2 transclearent minicons is wild
Thew: "Is that really how you spell 'souvenir'?"
Right below that: SKARKTICON
At least they didn't spell it "Sharticon"
Legends Blackarachnica has weak elbows?! I wasn't aware of that... I should take care of mine...
I look forward to this stock check every uear now. Hope to one day go to TFNation.
Is it me, or did Thew call that particular toy "Killtrumpet"? That *needs* to be a thing.
Yeah, I forgot Snaptrap's name in one of these vids a few years ago and he's been Killtrumpet ever since :)
Freakin' lovely, man. I've been looking forward to this, so thank you and Toy-Fu for another go-around.
Dang, that Tryptacon is a grail of mine. ONE DAY!
I'd love to check this out !! Sadly I'm in America.
I need to say that this Channel makes me happy when watching it :D
Jetfire was a VF-1S variant...different head to the VF-1J and VF-1A
Every year I say I want to go to TFN and every year I forget about it until this video saying about how I wish I could get a bunch of the bots being shown off. Next year though, I'll definitely be going!
the "grapple iteration" of inferno is called "road block
Damn, wish I was going. Need to get my hands on a Computron, preferably unite warriors.
This is a great vid to showcase odd and older figures to tempt me.
Love the custom Mini Autobots!!
I watched this whole thing, enjoyed every second.
Toy-Fu always supplying the good stuff.
Such a cool coincidence. I was just watching the last stock take last night 😂
This is so cool. I would be freaking out if I was there. Awesome video!
Thew's reaction to the Energon monster cured my depression
I wish i didnt live in the states. Id love to go to the toy show.
So what your saying Thew, its just another normal day with Toy-Fu.
Can’t wait for tf nation coming along with the Leicester vintage toys so hope to see you about thew hope you drop by that stall
That alternaters arcee is cool lookin
38:56 im almost certain that's actually dark energon optimus
I would have loved to go to tfnation, and get those combiners, but unfortunetly can't
Great video lads. Looking forward to TFNATION in just a few days now.
That Cloud Starscream looks nice.
Absolutely awesome I look forward to seeing this every year
Watching it on my Telly
I do hope to attend another TFNATION soon unfortunately got a wedding to pay for this year so can’t attend, hoping to work on a cosplay for the amazing cosplay contest they have
Most of them I never had and never have seen.
Good luck. Not gonna lie, the macross VF1A had me beaming and pausing.
Ahhh, it's Augustmas already. Love these videos
29:02 Sharpedge was actually only in 1 maybe 2 episodes and that was later on in the series. It would be nice to see him in more but alas
I actually saw a boxed flash lio convoy on a trip to japan recently, it was going for about 11000 yen which is pretty reasonable i think. They had a lot of cool stuff there
