This is the video the world needed to see. I'm not belittleing what Anthony Bourdain did and VN owes a lot to Anthony Bourdain but you're right Max, the lunch lady "culture" is a very special daily phenomenon in VN, in ANY city, and those awesome ladies work so hard to take care of their family while feeding their local neighborhood. Their food is homecooking at its best, homemade, handmade, and at awesome price. I lived in VN for 10 years and not only did I enjoy their food and cooking but they're fun to talk to. They made me feel like a true local in the neighborhood I lived in. Great video.

@@elizabeth78269 it’s thick like eggsdrop soup you have in the States, but the flavor is much more rich from crabs. And it’s 100% pure crab they bought daily in the morning. In vietnam we don’t like frozen/processed food.

Oh why I see this video in these self quarantine days 😂😂. I miss all those delicious foods, too lazy to make it at home. In Vietnam, we call this is COVID-19 Tet holiday.
Soup “Cua” - crab meat soup is like chicken corn soup in Singapore. You eat it with Chinese donut. The soft texture you have in it, I guess it is fish fins.
When you are in “Vo Van Tan” street (at the beginning of your video), there is a good shop there selling “Com Tam”, broken rice. You won’t be disappointed, I used to have “com tam” there when I was in VN. Try it out when you have a chance to be there.

Bún Riêu mà chẳng thấy miếng Riêu nào. Tôi ở SG cách đây 9 năm, có quán Bún Riêu Phú Thọ tôi từng ăn, đó mới là Bún Riêu chân chính.
Another noodles soup it call Bun Mam u should try.
If you don’t like the sweet taste, you can add some shrimp paste and fish sauce.
