I love how the aliens were a clear and present threat to the traders but the narrator doesn't talk about them with the same disgust and hatred as he does the Advent.
I love it because it shows how culture can manipulate people. The Advent attacking TEC is the Traders fault and they want revenge. The Vasari attacked unprovoked and their practice of slavery and oppression is probably worse than the Advents unity. However cultural brain washing makes the Advent out to be worse than the Vasari

I feel like the main thing that was always holding the popularity of this game back was the amount of time it takes to complete a single match, especially one with more than 2 dueling players on the board, which even then can take more than an hour, typically. It was also just way ahead of its time.

Of course people today call XPACS DLC because xpac is probably to complicated for them to understand. It still has support. I do want to see a Soase II though...maybe who the Vasari are running from.
why is it so hard for modern 4x games to write such clear cut and yet deep and intriguing story? where factions are actually unique, and have meaningful backstories instead of "oh look its lizards\mice\cats\dogs in space!!!"
Thing is the Setting is the story and you are supposed to mske your oen with what has already been established. This should mean that every game and all fan-fiction essentially are their own canon timelines.

You know the first time i saw this back in the day i was really sympathetic to the advent, but it says slot that the libertarian space United nations that was made up of a diverse array of cultures, economic systems, and governments, and was so effective that it resulted in 1,000 years of peace and prosperity, met the "pre-advent" and were so disgusted at what they saw that the conclusion, they came to was to exile them. Imagine what you would have to be doing to force the people who are that tolerant to say there can be no co existence. It allso speaks volumes that even at their darkest point the Trade Order didn't wipe out the people on that desert world given how much they despised them. All that said aesthetically the advent super carrier is one of the coolest looking ships I have ever seen
This is all interpretation. They may view the advent "cyborgs" as degenerate. The "Solar Empire" sounds very nazioid for me. Also, who says that this was the first genocide? I mean what have they done to deserve this? Ah yeah the ship designs are nice in the game.
The REbellion EXPANSION is as far as they seems to have taken this.. The gaming industry is so radically different ( in a bad way) since Rebellion launched in 2012. 8 years and no real signs of anything else. Such a shame.. We stil dont know what the Vasari were fleeing..
