@@JeffreyEdwards what others said. You build structures to gain phase points (each planet has its own capacity for those, usually 1 or 2 though it can go higher), choose bonuses, and ALL your ships gain said bonuses for a while after warping. Upgrades improve the duration of said boosts. Lastly, the vasari exodus can equip their capital ships or stations with a phase collector in the endgame, allowing them to collect phase points just by moving that ship to gravity wells where points can be collected. These points are kept until destruction of the ship, and this allows you to collect phase points from worlds you do not own (a single ship can possibly do so on the whole map, there is no limit to how many points a ship can collect this way other than how many points are available on the worlds it gets to visit)

I kind of had the same initial impression until I built two fairly early in my still ongoing match and oh boy are they incredibly useful. Being able to produce a constant stream of fast and agile units have allowed me to play hours of not needing to produce any new units from my factories. It allows me to keep pushing several planets away and stay aggressive without the need to fall back. I end up overwhelming the existing defenses and even most of the reinforcements. The small fighters also provides great protection for my capital ships since they end up soaking up much of the enemy's firepower as well as splitting their attention. Also, continuing to pump out more units while fighting is kind of awesome too. I recommend running at least two and focus on the abilities that allows you to build units and ignore the missile ability.
Can easily find one. The biggest edge of the TEC is mass production, and maybe lasers just proved more expensive and harder to make in bulk than ballistics, and as such they were left for only a few ship models (kol, starbases and the ankylon titan)
Yes, it is the Ragnarov Titan. I cut some stuff to meet the strict time limit I have, however I'd not intended to not mention it at all, that's an oversight on my part, apologies.
The big change for the Ragnarov is its Overcharge level 6 ability is replaced with being able to fire Novalith warheads. Novaliths have limited range now, but that's still super badass. And the titan is now integrated with the new combat and item system, obviously.
It's not some innate hidden value like in Sins 1. Now, it's done through the Pierce and Durability stats. If you have a ship or structure with high durability, say 500, it will require an attacking weapon to have 500 pierce to do full damage. More pierce doesn't do more damage, but the less pierce you have in relation to durability, the less damage you will do. So a corvette with 10 dps but 0 pierce will do almost no damage to a starbase or titan, while an Ogrov Torpedo Cruiser, with a pierce of 1000, will do full damage to everything. Missiles generally have high pierce, but the downside is that they can be shot down. Durability applies to all health: shields, armor, and hull. It isn't a value that goes down, but rather a general measure of how durable something is. Armor strength stacks with durability, so high durability + high armor strength can be very difficult to break through.
Ran into one issue with Primacy. When you send out pirates using the 10 influence option they seem to do nothing to enemy factions that may have made a truce with them, which is unfortunate and a waist of 10 influence points. At least give some secondary bonus.
I’ve been trying to learn Advent, I match up well against TEC. But man Vasari wreck me and I have no answer for them. Their capital ships just dominate and their frigates are leagues more powerful and I have nothing to take out their capital ships until the illuminator but they are T3 Hostility when the other factions get theirs at tier 2. If the Tempest was switched to do better against capitals and not smaller ships that would fix the Advent. Advent is the weakest early to mid game. I’m on unfair diff btw and haven’t seen anyone do good on high diff against the AI with Advent only with the TEC.
Advent is the weakest faction in direct confrontation. But, you can use their abilities to turn the tide early on. Use the maledictus (i think it is called that) capital ship. And abuse the mind control ability. Tempest frigate don't use credit. So you can actually be on par with vasari early on. Your weakness is missiles tho. Late game advent will get wrecked by vasari. Try to use the penitent canon to steal their ships. You can also try to play safe with mass fighter n bomber. Vasari don't have fighters so you can go for mass bombers vs them.

We're covering the Vasari soon, don't worry. In short though, they field somewhat less ships but they're more powerful than their TEC and Advent counterparts, with incredible regeneration and far-reaching strategic mobility, so they're very strong raiders who can beat larger forces with their specialised tactics.
@@battlemode i tend to hit the early raiding and aggression early but since they deplete resources generally fast around mid late game tdc is very tanky. i think i need to go and get specific research instead of going well rounded. i usually get early warfare then go to lvl 3 civ tech to get phase gate then go full warfare

Wait a minute. First you take the Kostura Cannon away from the Vasari, and now you're giving the Kostura's defense disablement ability to the TEC Novalith? I am not happy about this.
The Vasari in Sins 2 are already pretty strong even without the Kostura, especially the Vasari Exodus and their improved ability to just go full nomadic without planets.
Ive been watching TEC videos on other channels and i have to ask... why do TEC look more cartony than before? Anyone else got this feeling about their ships?
Turst me when I say, the original design of the Javelin from the 2008 release was far worse xD Im on the fence about the cruise, but I do feel like that the Kodiak looks a little better compared to the Harcka.
while playing, i have never use trade feature, it might be helpful in the beginning but it takes up orbital slot for research then one you have all the 50 research buildings, trade are useless
Wait two things, first why do the smaller ships. Lose shields, they had them in sins 1, second why would the TEC need to reverse engineering advent beam weapons, they already had them, before the advent even arrived, the kol was built before the advent and had four powerful ones, why do vasari and advent ships look like the ones from sins 1 but, the TEC don't.
We've outlined a fourth faction as part of the content pass/dlc plans for later, all the current factions are updated and reworked in some regards while trying to stay true to the feeling of the original
The vast vast vast majority of people don't care and have never cared about achievements. But if it's important to you then make it known and don't buy it
@Deathelement53 the last game had achievements. I am making it known, that's why I'm commenting. I bought the premium, that's why I'm salty. Only Early Access games release without achievements, not AAA priced games. Most people will play this single player, as with Stellaris. Missing them completely is a dumb oversight.
@jaywall4591 absolutely fine to hold this opinion. Mine however is that achievements are the lowest of the low content that could ever be added in and it would make no difference to me if they were ever added in but for your sake I hope they do
Sins II feels like a lesser experience to Rebellion. While some new additions and aesthetic choices are nice the TEC is the most cut down from their original aesthetic philosophy and feel bland to play. They had lil lasers, ships looked like they were a straggler army thuggin it out in war and their fleet felt like it had some real indomitable human spirit Kol lost a lot of its luster No Corsev bein snarky The corvette lost its diversity no ship has any real upgrade changes to it outside shields - like the Harcka could get a light gauss the way the flak ship gets an autocannon, or the pecheron some pd WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DESIGN CHOICE FOR THE COBALT?????? Was so excited for this and have just had such an underwhelming feeling after sinking 20odd hours into it
. . . I hope there's a future mod that replaces the AI generated tech images with ones made by y'know, humans? They are soulless, generic and maximalist.
I like how the crappy AI generated images used for the research has nothing to do with the game and its artstyle. It'd been better if you didn't have any images for them at all.
So, *over 20 years* pass in real-life but to the setting in Sins of a Solar Empire, pretty much STATUS QUO IS GOD? The Vasari are STILL on the run from their "elusive and oppressive shadow", the TEC is *still* resisting Vasari occupation and the Advent is *STILL* bitter that they were found dancing naked hugging their keyboards on some desert party world and exiled? Is this game gonna be a new Homeworld 3, where people who worked on it never even _played_ the original game?
Tell me you haven't played the game without telling me. The game has stuck to its roots and improved its existing mechanics whilst introducing some new ones that doesn't subvert the core gameplay loop which makes it fun. I would recommend you to try.
I too was underwhelmed initially with basically being the same three factions as the previous game but a fourth faction has been announced as future content and factions and abilities have been reworked quite a bit from the previous Sins Rebellion
The fourth faction won't make any sense lore wise unless it's horribly overpowered, otherwise it won't make sense why the powerful vasari fleet are still running away. It'll probably be some kind of grey goo scenario given vasari use of nanites, but I hope it's a race or force that can be reasonable and has a proper reason for going after them and not just want to consume or destroy or whatever. Either way I'm not that interested.
This game is unchanged from the First one. It's just a re-wash. Blizzard does this with content all the time. Absolutely nothing NEW in this game.........

Ragnarov is the only true TEC Titan - a giant gun, covered in other guns.
But its onboard Novalith cannon ability unlock takes far too long to open.
Is there any lore explanation for the TEC not using lasers anymore?
I hope someone makes a mod that changes the ships back to the rebellion settings
To give every faction more personality.
Lasers are for advents only now.
I kinda like my tec using only old school weapons.
Can easily find one. The biggest edge of the TEC is mass production, and maybe lasers just proved more expensive and harder to make in bulk than ballistics, and as such they were left for only a few ship models (kol, starbases and the ankylon titan)
@@jacksheldon8566 Can we count vasari beams as lasers though?
@@Abdoulaye1995 ion tech perhaps?

Is it normal that Tec Corvettes never face the enemy when flying around?
Makes them never use their frontal guns.
Why wasn't the tec primacy titan mentioned?
It look like the previus game ragnarov titan is it the same?
Yes, it is the Ragnarov Titan.
I cut some stuff to meet the strict time limit I have, however I'd not intended to not mention it at all, that's an oversight on my part, apologies.
The big change for the Ragnarov is its Overcharge level 6 ability is replaced with being able to fire Novalith warheads. Novaliths have limited range now, but that's still super badass. And the titan is now integrated with the new combat and item system, obviously.
Er, wait, so weapon types have different effecacy against different targets? is there a clear rundown of what's good/ bad against what?
How are infrastructure costs determined?
They where negible early game, but much bigger later.
Is this a form of taxes?
The costs scale up the more you make. Like actual taxes irl.
Ran into one issue with Primacy. When you send out pirates using the 10 influence option they seem to do nothing to enemy factions that may have made a truce with them, which is unfortunate and a waist of 10 influence points. At least give some secondary bonus.
See, I'd have that at least negate the truce effect. (if at 50% fire rate because they're trying to balance getting cash from both sides.)
Thank you for sharing this, I'll try to replicate and share with the team
Where is the other factions videos!!!
When can we expect the next dlc for sins 2?
Vasari next, please!
Are there Titan class ships in this game? I would love to destroy worlds with those.
Yes
TEC! TEC! TEC!
man i wish this was ported to mac. used to love playing the original
lets hope the new 4th faction is some weird bio-organic hive like race
Absolut geil! Ich besitze Sins II bereits auf Epic!

how did you manage to make your tectree layout look like that ?
You mean when using the text filter? If not, leave a timestamp in the comment so I can see what you mean
@@battlemode at the 6.20 min mark i just bought the game and the normal tectree looks awfule compared xD

would you like to know more...
yeah i need vasari next to learn the strengths. tdc seems to win most games ffa
@@kihl5374 I'll be honest, the Vasari are my least played faction but now I've got my head around what they're supposed to play like, I think I love them!

tempest needs a nerf pls
It's nerfed internally. Update coming soon.
im seriously considering getting this game. anyone have anything to add seeing as i never played sins 1 or rebellion
If you like slower paced RTS games and also like 4x games, this will be perfect for you
Wait a minute.
Hope you guys rework the AI artworks in the game and replace them with actual assets, but so far game's great!
Ive been watching TEC videos on other channels and i have to ask... why do TEC look more cartony than before? Anyone else got this feeling about their ships?
Its the oversized guns on units like the KOL battleship and main battle cruiser i think
Honestly the biggest thing I don’t like about the TEC so far is the design of their combat cruiser and the javelin.
Turst me when I say, the original design of the Javelin from the 2008 release was far worse xD
Im on the fence about the cruise, but I do feel like that the Kodiak looks a little better compared to the Harcka.
while playing, i have never use trade feature, it might be helpful in the beginning but it takes up orbital slot for research then one you have all the 50 research buildings, trade are useless
Man, the Advent are lucky they invaded after the Tec was locked in war with the Advent
Oh come on we've been playing these factions for 2 decades, surprise us with a new faction/factions dlc,
We've outlined a fourth faction as part of the content pass/dlc plans for later, all the current factions are updated and reworked in some regards while trying to stay true to the feeling of the original
@@stardockgames awesome thats so good to hear
Still no achievements for AAA price :(
The vast vast vast majority of people don't care and have never cared about achievements.
Mine however is that achievements are the lowest of the low content that could ever be added in and it would make no difference to me if they were ever added in but for your sake I hope they do
Achievements will be added at a later date, first we want to work through some of the vast amount of feedback we've received
I am enjoying the game. But damn, am I the only one who wanted some new content beside the graphic overhaul?
Sins II feels like a lesser experience to Rebellion. While some new additions and aesthetic choices are nice the TEC is the most cut down from their original aesthetic philosophy and feel bland to play.
They had lil lasers, ships looked like they were a straggler army thuggin it out in war and their fleet felt like it had some real indomitable human spirit
Kol lost a lot of its luster
No Corsev bein snarky
The corvette lost its diversity
no ship has any real upgrade changes to it outside shields - like the Harcka could get a light gauss the way the flak ship gets an autocannon, or the pecheron some pd
WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DESIGN CHOICE FOR THE COBALT??????
Was so excited for this and have just had such an underwhelming feeling after sinking 20odd hours into it
. . . I hope there's a future mod that replaces the AI generated tech images with ones made by y'know, humans?
They are soulless, generic and maximalist.
Been playing the game since release, it really needs a campaign to keep it interesting. Also AI is WAY too easy.
A.I is constantly being tweaked with player feedback, and the campaign will be coming as part of a later expansion
@@stardockgames it can't come too soon, love the game btw, this all comes from a place of love for your creation, it has so much potential.
How will a campaign keep it interesting? You'll play through it once and done.
@@user-zp4ge3yp2o compared to the alternative of playing against easy AI in different scenarios?
I like how the crappy AI generated images used for the research has nothing to do with the game and its artstyle. It'd been better if you didn't have any images for them at all.
The AI art sucks sooooo much just hire an actual artist it isnt that hard
You can certainly try to make that kind of comparisons, but so far it does not seem they will resonate.
Absolutely nothing NEW in this game.........
that's not exactly true - there are many small changes, including the durability thing which changes the damage formula quite significantly
No. I played and owned very game of the franchise from the original Sins all the way to Rebellion. This is a vastly improvement game and I honestly recommend you to buy it, because if you liked the first one, you will love this one.
