The problem of VFX is that you can only see it's there when it's bad, that's why so many people think that it looks so fake, because when it doesn't look bad you can't tell it appart from reality.
Appreciate it...a bunch of tutorials couldn't make me realize what is digital compositing but you your 3 minutes short concept made me realize what is digital compositing all about
When I saw the bikers doing the exact same movement, I started thinking about some parts being added in post and I looked for them. But I'm really amazed by how realistic/well it actually can look. :)
bud you didnt see it :) that means he was good! or he is! :) life is fishy , sometimes is better to not believe in everything you believe - Charlie Chaplin ;)
I only spotted the truck but knowing how hard that must've been to implement something so noticable but still keep me doubting is impressive in and of itself.
I am 48 years old and worked in VFX for over 25 years and despite the hours (it helps having an understanding partner), the deadlines, the software bugs, the client's lack of clarity and sometimes politeness and the need for that change by 3am, it is still a great industry.
OMG This really helped me. I have gotten to know various aspects of this through my internship and classes but this is so neatly put together and explained simply it makes me feel less overwhelmed and anxious. Thank you soooo much!
Many thanks for this amazing video! I've been showing this video to my Year 6 students in the primary school where am teaching computing (they learn VFX and Compositing in the summer term), and it is very useful to see the art and the techniques used. Of course they will get confused of what is real and what is not, which shows your great skills. Many thanks again! :)
Woooow, that was amazing, but I think I have trained my eye well (in fact, I'm studying animation and vfx), I could se the vfx on the van, the cyclists and the woman. That video was great!
Any chance you guys would be able to do tutorials for all those effects in the video? Or maybe make a list/playlist of the best techniques and tutorials to learn how to do all this?
you can use the translator, or +Roy Peker: Hey with me! Thanks! Glad you liked :) I worked with someone called Matchmover and he got a whole street slam along with geometry, so I just bought the entire scene to New York and New York! ;) I've seen some of your videos, looks cool! Well done! If you have time contact me by email
once the scene is matchmoved/tracked you can remodel the geometry and set the view to wireframe, hes done some simple finishing touches to make it look like its scanning
Im so suspicious from the very beginning. "Is that van is a cg? Nah . No way. Or maybe the main actor was on green screen? Nah... Ah it's all real" And the plot twist came. boom
Hey Roy, great video ! A french facebook page uploaded your video without crediting you. They made 400K views and took care to hide your name in the end to take all the credit. If you want to report it, the video is right here : facebook.com/humour.homme/videos/707213062792628/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED
Bruuuuuuuh, I love this, Roy and team, great job!! I'll send this to people outside the industry when i explain what vfx are. Keep it up man, it looks like you and your team could make really great shit, I'm excited to see it! Cheers!
So inspiring! I'm a master's level archi student don't know why I have a pull towards cinematography and now vfx. Maybe just procrastinating? Who knows, this video is a banger

OMG YOU ARE SO GOOD, I LOVE YOUR PROJECT
I am VFX hobbyist and it is so true that a good VFX is an Invisible art and cannot be seen. I love this video.
This is easily the best demonstration of compositing I've ever seen. Really nailed it.
this video needs to be shared in schools
Some Vfx is that you cant realize its actually there.
called invisible vfx :)
the best vfx is the one you can't see
Next time someone asks me what I do, I'm going to share this video with them. Absolutely perfect.
When I saw the bikers doing the exact same movement, I started thinking about some parts being added in post and I looked for them. But I'm really amazed by how realistic/well it actually can look. :)
Actually it's fake.
This is probably the best explanation with visuals and I share it all the time to show people when they ask what composting is
What even is real anymore?
Ey, you're here as well, this was in my recommended as well lol
Actor is real
You are real
u ok bruh?
The editing software was real
Everytime I tell people what my Job is and they don't understand, I show them this really great Video. Well done, I really love it! ♥
I think our band have a VFX idol now.
Great job!

This is the shortest and an in-depth explanation of VFX ever!
The bloody cyclists on the sidewalk is what really made it convincing ;)
are you serious? That was what gave it away, both of them are 100% in sync. totally unrealistic
Ofcourse its unrealistic, but i didnt recognised it until i saw the breakdown at the end.
Yea Bart is bluffing. Nobody saw that coming. It was solid compositing

just do a 3d track, and get some grids. Movie it in 3D space to where the walls are. Match and line them up with the walls and stuff
once the scene is matchmoved/tracked you can remodel the geometry and set the view to wireframe, hes done some simple finishing touches to make it look like its scanning
I was not expecting that twist in the shot . Made my mind blown
Software you use for (vfx) editing like this?
I don't know which one he uses for sure but this could be done in after effects
@@tatsuverksalproductions3000 thanks 😊
For compositing, he used Nuke and for 3D stuff probably 3ds Max or Maya, although Blender is is a good free alternative.
Possible to have used After Effects with Cinema 4D and or 3DS Max.
