    The rest of the results should be pretty interesting! Since it talks so much about resizable bar, tests with it enabled and disabled would prove to be interesting.

      Linux I think works in the background for rebar or it's version of it. Have to compare one build sane cpu and gpu on windows vs linux and see what performs better low tech method..both using a non supported cpu etx.

      @@RememberThisTech yep, that is how you get interesting results: non supported and supported results. Gotta break it 😁

      @itstheMR well I'm traveling this week so whatever posts next Friday will have basic linux tests etc. The windows version test will have to wait :(

    Very true about resizable bar, but you can enable it with a utility on the net for older CPUs. I tested it with my X99 motherboard and GPUZ does say resizable bar enabled. You first must enable 4g Decoding before running the utility and if you don't have that option then you must mod your bios and flash it. Works like a charm for enabling bar on the older cheap Xeon builds. The A380 has one notable advantage over any other GPU and it's the AV1 encoding. It is fast and produces smaller file sizes with the same quality than say a 4000 series Nvidia GPU. Can't really beat the A310 A380 for a JellyFin or Plex server and AV1 is all I use anymore. I've seen some A380 cards that do have an 8 pin connector, but the GPU itself doesn't need it unless you boost the power delivery within the Arc manager. Those GPUs I've heard can be used with one or without and can run at a higher clock if the 8 pin is connected. I just wish more devices like SOC boards jumped on board and at least included AV1 hardware decoding since it's royalty free, far superior to even HEVC, but not an issue for me as my devices either can decode them via hardware or software without frame drops, whew. Oh well, if you can't get AV1 on everything then that's where the awesome Xe Media Engine kicks in for transcoding to your older client that can't play AV1 smoothly. AV1 for video archives is a no brainer in my opinion as even if transcoding to H264 is needed then it still looks awesome.
    Thanks for another good vid! You really have hooked this viewer, so I'll be always looking for your next videos. I believe this video helps big time since it's the cheapest A380 option now for many and some may want to confirm they can use it in a NON SFF case which you proved is possible with the included bracket. You covered it all IMO, good work.

      @dont99know Hi there! Tyvm! What do you use for hosting your jellyfin bare metal or proxmox or? Your right I saw the way you can use the nod to enable resistable bar on older systems I just haven't had the time or courage to try it yet lol. Your also eight that these arc cards are beasts in transcoding/streaming etc. and also for exporting videos . The av1 is superior. I'm thinking of doing a contracting video on the a380 in exporting times and sizes for 4k premire pro exporting. Something like that. Thanks again I appreciate it!!

    All the years I've been building my own pcs and such,I've never heard of BAR.

    • @RememberThisTech
      @RememberThisTech  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @oksteve6368 intel arc gpus take advantage of newer motherboard platforms chipsets and cpus that can allow Certain gpus to access portions of system ram. Re sizable bar. Newer bios you can enable it in.

      @Montgomerygolfgator 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Resizable Base Address Register. There's a reason, the BAR has been the same since GPUs pretty much started. The fact that it's a new idea to change the size of BAR, is more of someone's "oh shit" moment than some new tech.

    • @vyrgozunqk
      @vyrgozunqk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Montgomerygolfgator yes, but intel fully utilizes it the larger bar. It can lead to 50% performance increase. By the way, some new AMD GPu's also use it, the performance impact is not that large, but in some cases can be 15-20 %.

    is Deepcool PF450 enough for this GPU? I also have 3400g or should buy a new CPU for this

    • @RememberThisTech
      @RememberThisTech  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi there. I ran this on an HP 6300 with a 240 watt power supply and a i7-3770. I think your 450 watt power supply will be OK. If you run it with a 3400g it will push this gpu fine.. but it won't support resealable bar in windows.. need a 3600 or above to support regarding in windows.. now in Linux you may be better off as kernel 6.2 and above has native driver support for this gpu and might be able to take advantage of some of its own typ of rear. Your millage may vary though. Thanks!

    First off, How are you ? Its looks like you dropped a few pounds. I hope everything is OK. Second I see you are going to make us wait. I am only interested in the Arc as a low cost alternative to AMD. Last I heard. The drivers were still a mess. Were are we at now. I utilize bar with my Ryzen 5 and 6650XT setups. While its not a game changer. There is a slight increase in performance.

      @mojavedxer Hi there and tyvm! The drivers have come a long way. Spoiler alert.. first test I'll do with this card will be on unsupported hardware :) I'll also test it with linux as it supposedly has native driver support in kernel 6.2. Then I'll do the basic same tests in windows with the same hardware. Then I'll try and test on my ryzen 5700x wih re bar. So while they won't be pages of stats and dozens of games hopefully I can put together a overall chart in the third and final video so stay tuned! Thanks again

      Hey Jose! Wow I didn't know you couldn't get Intel arc gpus there. Well next Friday I'll have a basic test video of thia little gpu out on linux then perhaps later another test in windows using non supported cpu etc. Cheers

    These kind of cards are mostly stupid and pointless... Id bet 75% of the situations you need a card like this for, it would not work, ditto on most of them because these cards are generally 1.5-2 slots, which means in the dell optiplex SFF boxes and similar from other manufacturers these cards will not fit, or if they fit the fan shroud is right against the power supply blocking most of the air flow. To get a card that actually fits you typically need a workstation type card, which are often true SFF/Single slot, but they are generally prohibitively expensive AND less powerful for gaming usage than their Geforce/Radeon counterparts

      @RememberThisTech  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dragonsystems5973 It fit perfectly in my HP6300 sff. A use case scenario might be enabling this card with the intel onboard igpu for extra quick sync transcoding capabilities for a small plex box

      @@RememberThisTech buttt..... didnt you say there was warning all over the place that you needed resizable bar for this to work or something?? isnt a 6300 a core 2 based system? Also, in my experience, some of the older ones had better PCI-E slot placement for the purposes of installing a video card, you really ideally want to put this in something like 4th gen to 9th or tenth gen

      @RememberThisTech  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @dragonsystems5973 It's got an i7-3770 in mine lol. Spoiler alert..But I'm testing it with linux 6.2 kernel. It has a way it can use or allocate system ram to the gpu like resistable bar. And kernel 6.2 and up has native driver support for intel arc. Granted my first video on Friday will be rudimentary at first. Then I'll try it in the same system with windows 10 and see how the tests and games do for fps.
