  • This is an Australian Aboriginal myth of creation adapted by Rowan Walking Wolf, and is part of a research made for the University of Granada, Spain, on traditional stories as educational tools for the transmission of complex systems thinking and the values of social justice, peace and sustainability framed within the Earth Charter.
This video will be publicly displayed at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2015.
We encourage the use of this film for educational purposes both in formal and non-formal education, both for children and adults. This story encourages a change in our worldview, while stimulates systemic thinking and instils those values which we most need in this time of social and environmental crisis.
Please, spread this film as you can.

The idea of dreaming could also be connected with the idea that uncreated consciousness spawned a simulation . When the creative consciousness had ‘run the simulation’ (for want of a better term) individual units of consciousness (that would be us) were invited to download into the simulation and continue the process of creation.

Don’t agree with the use of the word simulation though I’m in agreement with many of Campbell’s ideas - Personally I feel ‘ manifestation’ captures more of what the material Universe represents- The Australian Aboriginal’s ‘ dreaming’ concept is terrific because in metaphysical terms it is closest of all the creation Myths that exist to what actually occurred billions of years ago - The Universe akin to the human mind dreamed or imagined as we do about various projects & for the Universe this was how could ‘consciousness’ be expressed in material form - As in pre construction stage of machines & building all the different components need to undergo testing by way of experimentation - I posit that we as human ‘ intelligent energy’ systems are at the forefront in the grand Cosmological experiment of Mind in Matter

And wouldn't be ironic if after 4.000 years of search and research to uncover the nature of existence, we the Sumero-Egypto-Judao_Greeko_Romanic_Islamic-Chrstian-Western culture may end up learning that we are in the dream of a consciousness all that time.

There were over 300 languages spoken in more than 500 regions.
This Dreamtime is but one story of a multitude of myths and stories.
It’s like recounting Polish myths saying its European history or belief. It is part of Europe but not the history or beliefs of all of Europe.
People say it is like Hindi myth with good reason cause the western and north western Aboriginals are the newest tribes to come to Australia having come from southern India/ Sri Lanka.
The older original tribes were in the south east and died off quickly from the spread of small pox when the British arrived.
Dreamtime is a translation and but one story.

630 plus different language groups originally to my knowledge .. Now all that is left is approx. 230. Using the words "the dreaming" applied to these creation myths and lore was an English person's words. This transpired after stories she sent back to England in the 1800's. The ladies name was Frances Gillen. She worked in Alice Springs in the 1890's as a Telegraph Officer. Maybe you could read about it here. With the lies the English have told I often wonder why even the indigenous use this ENGLISH TERM now .. SMH

Whose dreaming story is this? I'm very curious.
Stories are super important to Aboriginal Peoples, ESPECIALLY Australians. They are hard-fucking-core when it comes to telling stories and learning their songlines. So much so that people today have essentially, a first hand account of things that happened thousands of years ago.
The Aboriginal Australian culture is over 40,000 years old. They still tell stories of people living amongst mega fauna and its so accurate that they knew what certain animals were, and what they looked like before archeologists found bones and fossils. Look up the Diprotodon.
I understand that this is more of a video essay, but combining stories from different lands would be like trying to combine the myths of Ancient Greece and Egypt.

been coming back to this a few times and in more life experience i think i understand it now.
imagine you are there at the start all you saw was the elements battling
the soul judges its influencers based on its energy levels
and then life learnt it could create its over energy to influence the system "dreamtime" (maybe)
so the animals dreamed of new stuff
but when humans came we understood how to do the rituals alike to aboriginals to generate energy to influence the dreamtime (which they say energize life in a new way)
thats around when the dreamtime ended alot because we escaped the dream or nature and tried to create new dreams
but now we don't understand the dream and got lost in the dream in modern time
so by that logic we shoud re enter the dream and understand the beauty in it again before we choose to "wake up" and go our own way

Hello, I would like to use this for a school play (I am a teacher). I was not able to open the WordPress link. As this is an adaptation, my superiors would like to see the original source/story from which this was adapted. Please help me!

    • @Midnightsunvideo
      @Midnightsunvideo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hi MissKirin6, I can provide you the original pdf from Rowan Walking Wolf. When I say "adaptation" is because any expression of a myth, legend or tale is an adaptation from an original lost in the darkness of time. In this sense, as Lévi-Strauss suggested, any adaptation is one of the forms adopted by the story, creating all of them the real and deep story. That is, any adaptation, provided that it respects the main lines of the story, is as valid as any other adaptation. You can find me in Facebook as Grian A. Cutanda - Scotland, and I can send you the pdf from there. If this not work, we can exchange our emails in private. Thank you for valuing my work.

Take note that this version says 'adapted' and I'll add liberally adapted. James is right, we do speak a version of Tamil and we come from the Harrapea Civilization, but Marshall is also right about the Tower of Babel being all of our origins but he is wrong about Hebrew being spoken in those times. Ebra had not even yet been born

This puts context to the snake in the Dreaming narrative.
I come from a narrative where the snake became representative of an evil appetite for a dichotomous knowledge of good and bad. And a loss of the life God intended as a result.
I think a snake is a good representation of that, with eyes that do not close, and an appetite to consume what will fit its belly, sizing up prey, and striking when unexpected and taking advantage.
To see it as part of another creation narrative, sometimes with, sometimes without, the emphasis on betrayal is interesting.
Also I am pondering how much that informs evolution as an idea too. Thank you for this.
Beautiful people with a beautiful narrative.

Is the story of Adam and Eve, a narrative about an ancient shift in consciousness? A tale about humans
Who chose not to live in the world of nature and spirit but decided to create societies where humans
Became central and dominantly important. Billy

The fact that this so called 'secret of the Dreaming' is narrated by Rowan Walking WOLF (a non-Australian animal) tells you all you need to about the authenticity of this video. It may be well-intentioned, but it's right off the mark. Let Aboriginal people tell their own stories. They have had enough stolen from them already!
