I saw John Sykes play live with Thin Lizzy in the 80s and he performed like a rockstar an absolutely brilliant guitar player burning on stage. I wish John Sykes would come out and play again come on John.
That turned out gorgeous, better than any Murphy Lab I’ve ever seen. The fact that Sykes reached out to you is awesome. I’m sure every guitar builder/luthier in the world would kill to have John as a customer.
Kirk Hammett needs to sell the orignal Greeny to John Sykes who is actually worthy of the instrument and has a direct connection to it thru his friendship with Gary.
Dude, when I saw Kirk with Greeny I immediately felt uncomfortable and sad. Greeny is a part of music history and although Kirk is in the biggest Metalband of all times, technically he's mediocre at best. But what's worse is that he does not have the soul to play Greeny like it could and should be played. Just a boring, mediocre guitar player that's playing the same crap since decades without the slightest signs of improvement. But Greeny is worth millions now. Unaffordable to most legendary guitarists.
Kirk no deberìa tener esa guitarra, no cuadra su música ni cuadra su historia para ello, esa guitarra es una excalibur, realmente es una desgracia que Kirk sea el dueño
29 years ago in August, two other winners & I had a tempura dinner w/ John, his ex wife, Burrn! editor etc. as winners of the mag. contest. It was a dream come true. He first ordered a glass of orange juice. 😊 Thanks for sharing your great story that showed he's out alive! Could you please upload interviews w/ him or jam sessions? Absolutely a GREAT Singer. & Absolutely plays every note & song like it's possibly his last gig. I had ran into him a few times. Allways gracious & loves to talk guitars. The last time I saw him, was with Blue Murder. in a club in Ft. Lauderdale FL. ( Carmine Appice was also quite open to talk about all manor of things.) But when John sang "Still of the night " EVERYONE There looked @ each other like... Wait a minute... ( This IS the voice on the record !! ?? WTF ? ) I will never actually know. Everyone else thaught the same. & The solo Killed the solo on the Whitesnake record ! Incredible show !!!
That guitar "Looks and Sounds" AMAZING!!!!!!! JOHN SYKES is FAVORITE musician of ALL-TIME, his guitar playing, vocals & songwriting are just MAGIC!!!!!!!!
Brilliant guitar! I see some talented builders and customizers who can get pretty close to the look of these old guitars but nobody catches the feel and sound like you do, I can tell you are really passionate about what you do!
Wow, what an honor I bet this was! For the past couple of years I've been obsessed with John Sykes, so to see this video of him interact and want a new guitar then to see it built from scratch is just amazingly awesome!
Wow!!! How cool is that! Both the guitar and the story! John Sykes is on my shortlist of all-time favorites guitarists (along with Gary Moore). What an honor it must’ve been to get to know him and work with him. Congrats to you (and to him for getting such an amazing new guitar from you!). Maybe he should have you make him an exact copy of his iconic ‘78 LPC too. That could be an awesome build!😍
Very cool! This video came up in my recommendations, and I love John Sykes, so I had to check it out immediately. You did an amazing job on that Les Paul, it looks fantastic! Impressive craftsmanship. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting John on a dozen occasions when he was touring with Thin Lizzy late 90s/early 2000s. He’s a genuine, down to earth, dedicated to his craft, human being, and very much deserving of this one of a kind instrument. Congratulations to you both!
That’s so awesome. He can feel comfortable taking out the relic rather than the real thing if on the road. It’s a great option. Excellent work. Cheers.
Love your channel! You are an inspiration to me.I got into building guitars a year ago.Nothing better than playing the very first note on a new guitar build.Learned a lot from watching you
This is really cool. Sykes seems like a good dude. These people, and I have encountered some over the years, they have a life just like the rest of us. When they're not performing, they can be just like the rest of us. It's been my experience to just talk about other stuff; stuff that has nothing to do with music. You don't name names and you keep some things to yourself. I've always been fascinated by the sounds of guitars from different eras. The other thing is watching an Artist embrace a particular guitar and dismiss another that any of us would be knocked out to have. This goes right to the heart of the matter; just like two guitars can never sound the same, two players can never sound the same. There's some mojo in the hands, the skin, fingernails that nobody else can duplicate. This is why I've always told others not to try and copy a certain player. Develop your own sound. Sure, we can "Borrow" from others as long as we don't try to sound like others.
Whenever I miss the best good looking les paul, i would watch this video. the pick ups are amazing. you're a genius, and the fact that you are so humble, makes you a better human being. John sykes is also a nice guy, in gary moore documentary you can see he is a nice guy. Oh my god the socond pair of pick ups are amazing., He was such lucky man to find you.

@@trilogyopus Thank you. Yes, I breathed a sigh of relief when John got this guitar. Now he calls me every week and tells me how much he likes it and that he plays it every day. The pickups are just how he wanted them and they sound exactly like he remembers the Greenie sounding. This is certainly inspiring and shows me once again that I am on the right track.
So great to hear that you were fortunate enough to put your soul into a project for my biggest guitar influence. Looking forward to hearing John tear it up again in the future!

I dont think you realize how real that guitar looks and sounds. I can call myself a historian of these guitars...I never think any replica looks or sounds correct..This one is special!!!!
What an awesome story and I can definitely tell you that your English has improved greatly. To the point where you could live in America and there would be no communication problems whatsoever.
The SECRET to getting a Les Paul Burst replica to sound like an excellent original example is to look past the Les Paul and towards the ES line, particularly the 335. Remember that Gibson never made the Les Paul for any of the up-and-coming players that would resurrect the LP from the dustbin of history. They made a solid body guitar that fit seamlessly within their Jazz lineup, with all of the best sound & playability features but without the resonant feedback problems of amplifying their stellar P90 pickups. The P90s, as you know, are in many ways superior in sound qualities over the Seth Lover PAF humbucker, most notably in the brighter & punchier attack rather than a PAF's darker & softer attack. For Jazz, the P90 is still the better choice. But the PAF humbucker is a legend in its own right for how it increases sustainability without losing control into a feedback loop, perfect for the stadium rock players of the '60s. Ultimately, an excellent Les Paul Burst replica should sound like an ES335: throaty, punchy, a bit nasally, but 😎phlemmy🎸 - basically like a sweet-voiced vocalist coming down with a cold. That's is the blessed sound of a Les Paul Burst.🎸 It sounds like, with John's help, that you have hit the bullseye🎯 with this iteration of the Burst formula!!
