I’ve already followed all of these instructions with absolutely no success. There are no tips here that I already have not tried myself. I’m already way ahead of everyone else, but unfortunately none of these tips have worked for me.

@@ariella4444 maybe your hormones could play a part too. I have wavy, curly hair, my scalp always gets oily after 3 - 4 days. But, the ends are almost always dry. Once I keep changing my pillow case, it kinda gets better. Less oily but nonetheless will become oily sooner or later. It doesn't get dirty, just those pesky oils. Biotin helps me in having less oily hair, some other supplements might help regulate your hormones too, I'm not a doctor but it's helping me! Maybe you should look at other factors too! Good luck on your hair journey!

I've actually not been able to do it (went from 24 hours to 36-48 though, that's impressive for me!) due to my hyperhidrosis having one of the most prominent places on my scalp and my hair clumping together after a day and me preferring a fluffier look to a slicker one because I need every last bit of volume due to having super fine and thin wavy hair. But still, the overall state of my hair has gotten so much better thanks to his tips, in just a couple weeks, and I couldn't actually buy the products he recommended (I'm not sure if they're available in my country now and payment/shipping is very difficult nowadays) but still was surprised...
Dry shampoo is something I use very rarely, my scalp gets itchy from them and they feel uncomfortable. So, that's why I'd rather wash my hair a little more often.
But I definitely have to thank him

I have been using this hair growth serum of reactivate littleexttrra for a really long time now and feeling good with the results I have got with it... it's my third serum bottle now.
This one has to be applied to the scalp so it performs like magic to a dry scalp.
I apply it usually before going to bed and just massage it well into my hair....and wash it the next morning. I have seen hair growth and enhancement in my hair density.

Absolutely, Reactivate serum is effective; it genuinely does its job well and delivers the desired result. But, one must remember is that you have to wait and give time for the result. Achieving results takes time and takes approximate 3 to 4 months to get visible results. But honestly speaking, the results are truly effective.

I wish people with naturally thick hair could be filtered out of my feed on TH-cam! It’s so depressing. I have super thin and fine hair, I need advice from people with experience of hair like me (either an expert or their own) not people talking only about their own hair which is different from mine and pretending that they have the answers for everyone, a surprisingly common thing . Seriously, when I see someone even just handling their hair roughly and constantly fidgeting and preening, if I did that to mine I’d be bald. I have to be super gentle, my hair is pathetic. I don’t like it, but it’s what I have and I have to work with it.

Sephora, Attica, Douglas, even biggest beauty chains do not even know what Redken is!!!! And now big blowout and iron shape are sold out all over the world!!!!!! I found Chris's channel about a month ago, and his advice has already transformed my hair! I have fine hair that is very oily at the roots and dry at the ends. I am 7 months postpartum and the oiliness was out of control. I was getting little pimples/bumps all over my scalp. My ends looked so lifeless, frizzy and dry. I kept cutting my hair shorter and shorter in hopes to get rid of the "damage". It only took one of his videos for me to realize he knows what he's talking about! I worked in a hair salon as an esthetician for 6 years and never heard hair advice put so simply and logically before. I started with professional shampoo/conditioner and leave-in conditioner. Immediately i could go up to 3 days without washing, something i couldnt even fathom before. I also cleaned my hairbrush, used a terrycloth shower cap, satin sleep bonnet and microfiber towel. I use a bonding treatment and hydrating mask 1x a week to help with damage, and just started using the heat protectants. It is crazy how good my hair feels, its not this nice when i leave the salon. Normally i would have to touch up my style with heat everyday to make it look presentable, but this morning i woke up to a fully intact style. My hair feels great and looks great. Thank you so much, you saved my hair!

My entire life I've been washing my hair incorrectly! I have a super oily scalp with thick, but fine hair & blonde. Chris, you have transformed my hair in just a few months. Using all your product recommendations except shampoo/conditioner. I had just bought the jumbos in Redken Extreme Lengths & they seem to be doing just great. The extreme lengths mask also. But I did buy a jumbo Redken clarifying shampoo per your rec & LOVE it! I'm able to go more then 3 days now. Growing up I "had" to wash daily. My hair would get to a length & just stop. Now it's longer then ever & still going. Healthier then ever & lol, heavier then ever. But I love it & am not complaining. I actually only need to blowdry & it looks beautiful. It's straight on it's own without a flatiron. I only curl every once in awhile. I have to get up at 5am for work, blech. The only thing I'm not liking is the Revlon brush blowdryer gets really hot so I have to be careful. Thinking about investing in the Amika one you liked in your test video?

Besides using professional shampoo and conditioner, wearing a microfiber lined shower cap has made a HUGE DIFFERENCE for me.
I can't believe such a silly detail like the humidity in the shower can make your hair look so gross. It really had almost all the blame for my oily hair.

Could be. I'm no professional so take this with a grain of salt, but I've been told using cold water helps keep the hair strands "scales" closed while hot water causes them to open up. When they're open, the hair looks frizzy but when they're closed it looks shiny. Ive heard just doing a final rinse under cold water for a few minutes can help with this. Again, I am no professional and I hope I am not spreading myth by saying so.

Hi Chris, could you do a video on how we should manage our hair while we sleep, based on our hair types? Also the various lengths? My hair is fine, thin and shoulder length. I know people with long hair sleep in buns or braids. I usually just sleep with mine down, but sometimes feel that it might be mashing into my scalp while i sleep and spreading the oil faster or damaging my hair. Just looking for night time recommendations 🙂

    • @flyinfrogg
      @flyinfrogg ปีที่แล้ว +5

He does recommend sleeping with a satin or silk night cap. You could also try a silk pillow case. I use a satin night cap, but I also use a cpap machine, which can interfere with my hair sometimes and make it hard to keep my style fresh. I have very fine, thin, very straight, very oily hair so my style doesn’t last past the first night, but my hair does look better as far as texture. The satin helps with the frizz. I used to sleep with my hair down at night but I would pull it up over the pillow so I wasn’t smashing it. That did help preserve my style (before I had to where a cpap mask) and would even give me a little volume. I wonder how it would’ve looked using a silk pillowcase. This method only works if you’re not a roller in your sleep, but I was able to sleep on my side or back with my hair up like that.

But I take the invisabobble hair (they don’t crease the hair)tie and just put it in a pony as high as possible. I don’t twist it though. I basically just put it around the hair to hold it while I put the bonnet on and it stays up all night. I’m a toss and turn sleeper too! THANK YOU CHRIS.
I've spent years and years struggling with my hair, overwhelmed by the plethora of gimmicks and conflicting info about what to do, and what not to do. I wasted so much money and time with products that didn't work.
These days, I do an old-school blowout once every three days when I wash my hair (I'm an oil slick with fine hair). When I first started, admittedly I was terrified I'd mess it up and ruin my hair by using heat every three days. However, I followed your advice and I've got the hang of it now, and my hair actually has less split ends than when I was just air-drying and styling the front bits with a curling iron (with product marketed as heat protectant that was actually just leave in conditioner...)
My hair is naturally dark blonde, but I have flipped between colouring it red and then bleaching it more times than I care to mention. Although I did do this in a salon - please NEVER do this at home people, I learned the hard way - my hair has taken a beating and by all accounts, should be a mess. But it's not! Because of you, Chris! My hair has actually never looked better and been more healthy. My partner, friends and even strangers notice and compliment me on it! I never thought that would happen.
Thank you so much for demystifying the world of hair. I never thought I'd see the day when I was walking around with Pamela Anderson level locks, catching glimpses in windows and thinking damn, who is that?!
Folks, if you're on the fence about revamping your hair routine to what Chris recommends, don't hesitate. It so simple, and it works. You won't regret it!

I've always air dried my hair since blow-drying almost always makes it look gross a few hours later, no matter if it's done by a hair stylist or myself at home. Every time I get a haircut, I have to wash my hair on the same evening haha.
My problem is oily (fine and wavy too) hair+sweaty scalp. I've definitely been able to consistently skip a day instead of washing every day since I started his routine (but with products I was able to buy, not the recommended ones) and it's definitely looking much better now!

I have super fine hair and the only product that's actually extended my time between shampoos is the "water killer" dry shampoo from EVO. It does leave my hair feeling kind of icky to the touch (maybe because I haven't figured out the right amount to use) but it looks great; I can even wear it down on day 3 or 4. I know this reads like a bot-generated ad but I swear I'm a real, oily human :P

I was using professional products before but switched to what he said. My hair is better in general but it’s only added like 12 hours to my passable clean time. I even bought the dry shampoo and it just feels gross.
I’m not mad. It is better. The only issue I have is that washing two days in a row with the new products is terrible! So if I have something to do, I have to go 3 days with greasy hair leading up to that day. Fine hair life, right?
I feel like I should add that my hair grows stupid fast and I can see the extra growth at the bottom instead of just the roots. My hair is suddenly aggressively long. Love that!

The advice in this video is good. However, one needs to know about their hair. I have coily tight curls and wash my hair once a week ( every 7 days). I use three different quality/professional shampoos and conditioners. I rotate each week so my hair does not get use to any of products. And this works well for my hair. The other thing I use a hair scrub once a week and helps with my itchy scalp and I also use a scalp serum with peppermint oil. I use the products because I exercise 3 to 4 times a week and I sweat alot. In addition, I use apple cider vinegar with micellar rinse between washes to keep my hair refresh longer. Every product that I use I have seen significant hair growth! This is what works for me.

Working on these and I noticed that on the days I touch my hair with my hands (playing with my hair, moving my bangs out of my face) were the days I had oilier hair by the end of the day. On days i had my hair in braids or updo, my hair looked much cleaner. Think of all the things you touch regularly and then you play with your hair! Thanks for the tips Blowout Professor, I'll definitely be doing these! I definitely bought into the boar hair brush thing a couple years ago and it was so difficult to clean and almost never did it. No wonder I had itchy scalp and flakiness. tossed that brush and started new with a wet brush and a round brush!

Take this man's advice. It's solid.
I came across this vid and a few related to it shortly after it was posted. My scalp has always produced too much oil. For most of my adult life, my hair was very long and very thick and the oiliness was something I dealt with by washing every day and not thinking much about it. It wasn't a "problem." Then, about two years ago, my hair started falling out at an alarming rate. I don't know why this happened, but as I lost more and more hair. Among the issues this caused, the oiliness became very noticeable.
Following this advice with the recommended products helped a lot. My hair is incredibly soft, shiny, and smooth. While it may just be a coincidence, my hair stopped falling out shortly after I started using the recommended products and then started to grow back. It's all coming back, as far as I can tell. With most of my hair consisting of 3-5 inches of regrowth, my styling options are limited to carefully immobilized up-dos, but my hair so healthy looking that I have had coworkers ask me for haircare advice. I am in my early 40s and that is a first. I had a lot of hair before, but not good hair.
The only downside is, I still wash it every other day on average. I can push to three with dry shampoo, but I can feel the heaviness of it, and it looks so dull. I find myself worrying about clogged follicles and hair loss again, and wondering if it's really worth the risk when every other day is an improvement and working for me. The biggest issue for me is that it really does seem to me like this "only wash your hair every X days" advice isn't given with physically active people in mind. I'm active and a I sweat. Not washing my hair after working up a sweat is about as appealing as not changing out of sweaty clothes, and I have yet to find sound advice that takes this into account. I've tried water only and conditioner only, but that's a problem I'm still trying to solve.

I wish that people wouldn't come here to dismiss Chris' advice. Create your own channel to promote drugstore's products. 🤐
I stand by Chris advice and recommendations because after many years of bs he reminds me of my father, that was an Italian hairdresser in the 60's and 70's. " Clean your head not your hair" was his motto. He taught me how to wash and clean my head (scalp) and of his clients too, if I ever missed one or more spots he would notice immediately and send the client back to the washing (scolding me in the meantime 😅). Most of his clients could go with 2 washes a week, and mind you...back then they used rollers and high heat hair helmets, combing and hairspray.
Thanks Chris for spreading the Truth 😊🙏🏻💙

Hi Chris! I first want to say that i watched all your videos and i have taken your advice. I have fine hair, it gets greasy after 1 day. I started doing the hair routine approx. 2 months ago and it goes like this: i start by using the Redken hair cleansing cream shampoo, i use just a tiny bit on my scalp by separating my hair into sections. Even so, it still produces a looot of bubbles from the start. Then for the 2nd step i use Redken volume injection shampoo, same technique as 1st step. Again, looots of bubbles even though i use a tiny bit. Then i apply the volume injection conditioner on my ends. The next step, i apply the Redken leave in conditioner before i dry my hair and last step is the Oleplex no.7 bonding oil just a tiny bit on my ends. Now, as much as i love how my hair feels right after, soo so clean and fresh… i still struggle with oiliness only after 1 day 😕 i am literally doing all the steps that you are talking about.. but i still have to use dry shampoo from day 2. I dont wash my hair for 3-4 days and it looks decent because i use dry shampoo, but i just dont manage to get past 1 day without it. I dont understand what is it that i am doing wrong or why it’s not working for me. 😢😢😢 anyone in this situation?

For me personally, I cannot use a clarifying shampoo everytime I wash my hair. It's just too much for my scalp. It can eventually make my scalp feel a little tight and itchy. I struggle to find the goldilocks of shampoos basically because I cannot use volumizing shampoos either. 😂 I just double wash with my regular shampoo. If I use a clarifying shampoo every wash it will have the opposite affect on me and make my hair greasy faster. For me personally, the only way I've been able to stretch out my washes is by double washing with a regular shampoo and just letting my hair get greasy and waiting a set amount of days to wash again. Eventually my hair adjusted. It's not ideal for everyone and doesn't always work for everyone though. If you think you need to wash every day then only wash once and do it everyday. When coming up with your personal hair routine you need to consider your lifestyle, hair/scalp type, etc.

So vinegar naturally dissolves the residues, that’s why an apple cider vinegar Rinse solved it for me. (Make sure to dissolve it with a lot of water, and the stink goes away as it dries ). Investing in a water filtering shower head doesn’t hurt either.

It is not true that every person can go three days with fresh looking hair. I believe you that a lot of people can by using the right products and that many people don’t shampoo thoroughly but I have PCOS and my hair is looking oily after 12 hours. I tried almost everything. The only thing that made it look less oily was a scalp bleach because my hair soaked up the oil more after being that damaged and porous. Dry shampoo helps a little but that’s just another way to soak up all the oil. I use a BHA treatment the night before washing. I wash with a clarifying shampoo AT LEAST two times, I could never get away with just once. Sometimes I do it more often if necessary. I tried letting the shampoo soak in, scalp massage before and during shampooing. I used your technique and I really get in there, in between the layers and my neck. And still, I am oily in the evening. Please accept that there are conditions that cause an extremely oily scalp and don’t gaslight people into thinking they are doing something wrong. It’s hard enough to deal with all the other symptoms of hormonal imbalances and then being blamed for your oily hair on top of that. I am being shamed and made feeling dirty all my life even though I wash my hair more often than healthy people and I have hair loos on top due to my condition, which makes the oiliness appear even more severe.

Thats because the real cause of oily hair is not being addressed. Oily hair is cause by overactive sebaceous glands. Usualy dairy is the culprit. Research dairy , androgen excess from dairy, and how it effects us oily sufferers. Consider giving up dairy. Wait 2 weeks. Life changing. This guy never talks about nutrition, because he sells products, not food. I know people who use white rain and have gorgeous hair. Fruits, veggies, drink water. Life changing. Gotta address the real cause of oily hair.

    • @DebbieTDP
      @DebbieTDP ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@donnahollywood8007 he's not a nutritionist.
Oily hair could be caused by beauty routine or hormonal imbalance.
      Some of these factors include:
      Using Too Many Products
The frequent use of serum, hair gels, oils, conditioner, and the like can harm your hair strands. The accumulation of different hair products in your hair can weigh it down. In addition, the use of alcohol-based products can also disturb the sebaceous glands, producing more oil than usual.
      Shampooing Too Often
Most people develop the habit of shampooing too often as they believe it gets rid of excess oils. Although this is true in some cases, shampooing too often can promote excess sebum production to replace the lost oils in your hair.
      Natural Oily Hair
Some hair types are naturally oily, making it almost impossible to avoid oily hair. This condition is common in people with straight strands as sebum can travel freely from roots to the tips. Curly hair can also be oilier on the roots because sebum fails to reach other parts of the hair strand.
One of the best temporary solutions to oily hair is proper shampooing, but what happens if your hair remains oily even after shampooing? Poor hair care routine, environmental factors, overproduction of sebum, and other underlying health conditions can cause your hair to remain oily even after you shampoo. Yet, the major culprit of oily hair is poor shampooing routines like:
      Over-conditioning your hair
Not rinsing the products out of your hair properly
Using heavy conditioner on your hair
      Product buildup
Rinsing your hair with super hot water
Applying too many products after washing
      Washing your hair too often
Using a gentle, clarifying shampoo and lightweight, non-greasy hair care products may be able to reduce sebum production in your hair.
Your skin is covered in tiny pores, also called hair follicles. Your hair follicles surround the root and strand of the hair within. Most of these hair follicles also contain the sebaceous glands, the glands that produce oil. These oil glands keep the skin and hair healthy and moisturized. They also help prevent skin infections.
Sometimes, these glands can produce too much oil, causing oily skin and hair. There are a few different things that can cause excess oil production, including:
Changing hormones. Your sebaceous glands are controlled by hormones, and when those hormones change, your glands may produce more oil. This is especially common for people going through puberty or for people taking hormone medications, such as birth control.
Genetics. Some people are just born with glands that produce more oil, just like some people are born with glands that produce less and lead to dry skin and hair.
Humidity. Weather can affect the way your hair looks and feels. In humid environments, less moisture evaporates from your skin, which can lead to your hair feeling weighed down.
Stress. Like puberty, stress can affect your hormone levels and cause your pores to make more oil.
Oily hair symptoms usually involve the look and feel of your hair. Your hair may look greasy or shiny. It can feel heavy or weighed down and greasy to the touch. Overproductive oil glands on the scalp can also cause the scalp to become itchy and irritated.
Oily skin may also contribute to a condition called seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a condition in which your skin becomes inflamed and itchy and causes the skin to flake. Dandruff is a type of seborrheic dermatitis. An oily scalp can lead to dandruff caused by the yeast-like fungus Malassezia. This fungus feeds on the oil on your scalp. Regular dandruff can also happen when the scalp is oily and the excess oil begins to irritate the skin, leading to an itchy scalp, inflammation, and skin flakes.

@@DebbieTDP true, hes not a nutritionest, but one would have to be lacking in intelligence not to know that healthier food will result in better hair. The above conditions you prescribed can cause oily hair, but Im talking about chronic oily hair. Chronic oily hair , even after changing the aboved described conditions, still remains persistent, and confusing and frustrating to the person. Ive suffered chronic oily skin from age 14 to 36. Obviously in that time i tried every shamppo and conditioner combo you can think of. No poo, only washing once or twice a week, none of that "helped" . Glad you brought up hormones though, because that is exactly how dairy messes with hormones. Milk is meant for baby cows, not us. The hormones and proteins are designed to make a small mammal grow to a large mammal in a short amount of time. You can only guess whats its messing g up inside our bodies . In women, androgen levels goes up, as does testosterone. Results, hirsitism, thyroid problems, pcos, and yes , chronic acne. Chronic acne is accompanied buy oily skin. In simple terms, the cow hormones that are not meant for you are screwing up our hormones. Add the weird synthetic hormones to the cocktail, and we have all kinds of weird things happening, including early puberty. Weird. But people will fight tooth and nail for their cheese. They wont even look at research. Its common sense, really. If you eliminate the causes (dairy) then youll enmoy washing your hair less, no dry ends from overwashing, combat heavy conditioners, pay people money for very expensive shampoos thats just a hype, less powdering, better smell. Eliminating cheese is hard, but you finally get to feel like a girl not a grease slick. The rest can suffer.

3 days is my max. I shampoo twice and use a gentle, professional shampoo that is a gel consistency, so it effectively cleanses and doesn't weigh my hair down. Does wonders!

I’ve been trying the routine recommended by the videos for a few months now. I have short hair and oily scalp. I double cleanse and don’t condition the roots. I can barely make it to day 3 without feeling gross even with dry shampoo. I unfortunately found that by shampooing every 3 days I developed much more itchy scalp and dandruff.

I was using L'Oreal sulfate free and my hair was great. I would shampoo every 3-5 days without problems. I ran out and used a cheap shampoo trying to stick to the same routine and I developed adult cradle crap 😭. Used Pantene and improved somewhat. Then I bought Chris's Trinity Products 1st routine, my hair was dryer than I've ever seen it before. Waited three days 2nd round to wash and my hair was okay the first day but now on third day it is oily and itchy like I've never felt before. I am buying Nizorole Incase it's a yeast from the cheap shampoo. Wish me luck 😮

Regarding the clarifying shampoo...ok. What exactly does 'drying out your hair' mean then, in that context. The last five minutes were all about how important it is, to use a quality shampoo to actually really, thoroughly clean the oils from your scalp and hair. And how drugstore shampoos won't do that. So what exactly does clarifying shampoo do then, above and beyond 'thoroughly cleaning the oil from your scalp and hair'? Clean is clean. Either there is still oil left or everything is stripped off and gone. Can't have it both ways.
It was always my understanding, that the point of clarifying shampoo was, to remove product built up, not natural oils. Stuff, that needed stronger or just very specific detergents to dissolve.
So does 'drying out' then mean, the hair is stripped of any and all silicones and such and might therefor seem 'dry' or 'damaged'?

Goodness this info has just come in so handy!
Daughter had haircut today, hairdresser says her hair is dry… but we know she actually has oily hair type. Mine is actually such a dry hair that I go a week without washing as I have textured hair. 😅 so I was so confused earlier when we were told hair was dry. ( think problem here is actually her hair routine).

I sweat like crazy and by the end of the second day my hair is a mess. all the sweat and oil is just two much. when I'm not working, I can easily stretch my hair wash to 3 and even 4 days. I'm still trying to find a dry shampoo that will actually make my hair look refresh.

I have itchy scalp too, which does get worse the longer I go without washing my hair and the more dry shampoo I use. I started using The Mane Choice Scalp Renewal serum and IGK’s charcoal dry shampoo and I haven’t had itchy scalp since! I’m having trouble finding the scalp renewal but Mane does have a Manetabolism serum which looks like it does the same thing. The IGK dry shampoo has white tea powder in it that is supposed to smooth the scalp too. It’s expensive, but completely worth it. It’s the best dry shampoo I’ve tried.

Have you tried IGK’s charcoal dry shampoo? It’s intense! It’s by far the best dry shampoo I’ve used (WAY better than the Berlin dry shampoo Chris recommends). I have very fine, very oily, very straight hair and I can go three days without washing my hair if I use a little bit of it every day after washing day. It does still feel nasty by day three, but it doesn’t look too bad. I have noticed that if I spray it on near my scalp and don’t touch it for about five minutes, then use my brush (not your hands, that just spreads the oil) to massage it around the rest of my scalp (don’t brush your hair, you want to keep as much of the dry shampoo on your scalp and roots as possible. Use small circular movements so your hair doesn’t tangle up too much, but still spreads the dry shampoo), then wait about five more minutes (I usually spend that time rehydrating my hair because I get really bad staticy hair), and then brush out my hair, that it looks clean. I haven’t quite figured out how to preserve my style though, so it never looks as good as it did on the first day, but it at least looks clean.
