Thank you for addressing the cortisol issue. I have worked out my entire life. I am now 51 and started gaining weight no matter what I tried. The harder I worked out and heavier I lifted the worse it got. When I respected my hormones and menopause I started working out differently. No more super high intensity workouts. I am looking and feeling better. Back on track. Peri and menopause really stress your body.
Even if you cant "work out" ( i dont per se) stay active! Walk wherever u can, park the farthest away in parking lots, etc, etc. AND cut out added sugar!! I am not on a diet- lost 20 lbs by reading labels and only eating protein, natural wholesome carbs . I think the American diet is so full of sugar its killing us
Finding something you love is the answer. Im a Zumba instructor and that’s my cardio. I’ve been strength training with a PT lately when I’m paying I’m motivated lol You’ll feel great and won’t be frail as you age. Im 68 3/4
Good advice, Nikol. I turn 65 this year and recently discovered i have lumbar spine issues and tore a meniscus. I have never been so aware of how important it is to MOVE, as when i barely could. It is essential to work on your body...slow and steady, and consistently. Getting back to body movement and strengthening...slow, but moving in the right direction. Keep moving that body! ✌🏽💕
This is such a welcome issue! I’m 73, for about 20 years now, I’ve been walking 3 - 5 miles (6days a week) but it wasn’t feeling I was doing enough to strengthen my body. So I started adding weights for upper body 3 days each week (per my orthopedic doctor after rotator cuff surgery 2 years ago). What a difference weights make and I love how my body looks and feels! Thank you! You’re such an inspiration!🤗♥️
I discovered the TH-cam channel Senior Shape with Lauren about a year ago. I COMMITTED myself to workout with her 5 days a week. The results have been life changing. Bypassed knee surgery, lost over 10 lbs, and I’m stronger and healthier than I have been in years. The variety of workouts keeps it fresh, never boring. How true that if we don’t do weight bearing exercises we can loose muscle mass….The challenging part of any workout routine is commitment to one’s health for sake of self and those we love. As Lauren says, “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”. Going into 2025 strong and setting personal goals for myself this year. Women need to inspire and help one another. ❤
Ok, you've motivated me! I have been a professional dancer for decades but the last 3 years have been a challenge due to life change circumstances. I'm over 70 and I see my once-great fitness starting to dwindle. So, here is my question Nicole: how do you manage your time to get in a proper fitness regimen? You are a very busy woman, more so than me it would seem. All I appear to have these days is "lack of time" excuses. I would LOVE to see you do a video on how you structure your day to fit it all in: fitness, sleep, nutrition, work, etc.
Thanks! I’m 72 and go to the gym 3- 5 times a week. ( first time in my life to do this much) My thoughts are, this is something I’m doing for myself, it’s MY time to take care of myself! Also glad you said it makes you sore; we’re not alone.
I'm 72 and worked out my whole life. I ran 6 miles/day from my 20's to my 50's and did body building. I currently walk 2 miles every day with my dog but I tore my meniscus earlier in the year so I started doing Pilates. It's really helped build my core without putting stress on my knee. I still walk 2 miles every day and get to the gym to work my arms when I can. When I was doing PT for my knee they stressed how important it is to keep your gluets and hip flexors strong as you age.
I loved this! We need little reminders like this every now and again! Your advice always feels to be directed at me or am I just feeling guilty ha! Thankyou for all you have shared throughout the year… It was so appreciated 🌸 Hopefully next year we can support you…Australia needs you 🇦🇺😉
This looks wonderful. I need to build muscle as I lose it easily at 74. I walk but not lately. I’m in decent shape but need to amp it up again. Too much going on in my life that slowed me down but I can always count on you to lift me up and get me back on track!! Thank you Nikol!!❤❤🙏🙋♀️
I LOVE THIS NIKOL! I turned 61 this year and for the first time in my life I decided to do something about all the weight I put on over the last 10 yrs. Was way under weight up until I turned 50 (98 lbs) and my metabolism was so high, I couldn't put on weight no matter what I did or ate. Then I hit menopause and it seemed like over night I put on 35 lbs!!! I don't want to go back to 98, but just want to be healthy, feel healthy. So I enrolled in a gym membership and got a personal trainer and now I'm determined and sticking to it! No matter what! and realizing for the first time that this is what my body is supposed to look like, but a better healthier version of it! :D
Thank you for the inspiration! I am going to be 60 in 2025 and 2024 was a very inconsistent year for me. Too much stress! I have the whole BODi program, weights, bike etc. but avoid pushing play all too often. Menopause has robbed my body of so much and I am taking it back in 2025!
Thanks Nikol this video has made me want to get on track again in 2025. These passed 4 years life has been stressful so it is time to put myself first ❤
I have been practicing pilates on a reformer and tower. I also teach classes of 4 to 6 people at three different studios. I love the resistance and the challenge of the moving reformer. I find if i get 3 reformer sessions a week for myself, I can see and feel results. However, the most important thing is to continue to move.
I signed up and am ready to start. This will augment my weekly trip to the gym and weekly yoga class. At 71, I can’t seem to lose the 20 pounds I had lost so effortlessly after retirement but regained during the pandemic. Arg. I am strong from several years of strength training and marathon gardening, but not toned all over. I also have the start of osteopenia and want to prevent further bone loss. Thanks for the inspiration, Nikol!
Thank you Nikol for the great advice! 💖 I’ve had a very stressful year due to being there for everyone else. Unfortunately my regular routine has suffered along with my food as it’s been a lot of grab & go eating. No matter what I’ve done I’ve gained weight & felt very negative about myself. My whole body has been affected physically, mentally & spiritually by stress. 2025 is going to be about nurturing & gently looking after myself with daily dog walks, swimming, yoga & reformer pilates. Wishing you Happy Holidays & all the best for 2025! 🎄💝🇬🇧
Thank you for the reminder of how important this is. The cost of this is much more reasonable than something like the subscription to Tracy Anderson. It looks also easier to follow. I live in Miami and traffic is worse all the time so home gym it is in spare bedroom.
I have seen mixed reviews on Tracy Anderson and people getting insured from her moves. Finding a workout that meets all your needs from being accessible to low stress I think is key.
I love love love that you make everything relatable….you said what you love doing but how it’s not the best choice for you but there are options to support you that you also like
Wow! This looks like something I need to add to my workout routine! I box, bike, and do resistance videos…and am starting to get back to walking after dealing with plantar fasciitis. I’m 69 and had both knees replaced this year and have about 12-15 pounds to lose. TY for demonstrating this!
I love Pvolve….I joined the last time you posted about it! I use a number of the streaming classes. I was not new to workouts or weightlifting but my local fitness center was constantly having wait lists for classes and then let you know about a cancellation last minute. So I decided I needed a home workout program! Love the progressive weight classes, the upper body sculpt, the lower body sculpt…all the things! Highly recommend! ❤
I’m 52 started the menopause at age 40 (had a baby age 39…..my body is a mess) I’ve doubled in weight and suffer with fibromyalgia, meds list is longer than my arm……..I really want to try this. You’ve definitely motivated me Nikol just wish I’m able to do this
Thank you for doing this video. I have been a caregiver to a family member for 10 years and have put them first and me last. We are approaching the end of our journey together and it’s time for me to begin defining who I am again. Much love.
Thank you for this video! I am a keen follower of your channel and love all your information! I know about PVolve from my daughters and sisters, but I am not a lover of going to classes. I usually work out at home with weights, walk my dog, and play pickleball several times a week. I was so excited to learn about these at home workouts! I just ordered a set of equipment using your code, and will start today with the “no equipment” workouts! Excited to get started! Thank you for all you do!
Thanks Nikol, that was great. I am full of arthritis and walk, swim etc. I used to do a lot of Pilates and stretching on a regular basis but this is an exercise regimen I will look into ❤ and always looking for less cortisol xx
Nikol I have been using weights for years off and on I am petite as you are like you have said stay strong feel having energy after work out I walk every day as well I eat food that help my body skin as well have a good day wendy😊
Oh gee Nikol thanks a lot for this video.....as I sat here and clicked to view having just eaten 3 chocolate turtles...it is Christmas afterall. You have motivated me by how you look in your workout gear to get fit again...after Christmas==don't want to shock my body or anything (tee hee). Menopause....geesh.
73, worked out the majority of my life-would bring the kids to the gym when they had day care-:). I do Pilates, weights, Peloton -something every day. I am considering giving PVOLVE a try. I know how hard bands can give you a workout-looks fun. I loved Orange Theory but the HIT got a bit much for me. I appreciate the holiday code. Thanks for addig this to your beauty talks.
I’ve really let me fitness go but four months ago I adopted a beautiful broken coated 7 year old Jack Russel terrier and of course I walk him Upto an hour a day Of course this left me with plantar faciatis which led me to a physio I am SO glad that happened / he has customised a reformer and weight bearing routine for me which I do at his tiny gym and I LOVE it 2025 is a thousand percent self care through walking and those classes to take my last chance at 55 to get myself sorted 🙌🙌🙏
Thanks so much for this Nikol!!!!!! ❤ I needed this motivation. 😊 I had been on the fence with pvolve, thinking I had to prep myself before attempting it but I’m so glad you did this demo! Showing us the workouts and how you do them, like most of us in your home gym. I was a bit intimidated with the studio aspect and the already well toned and “perfected” promotional videos etc. I went through the whole cortisol cycle as well. Not fun! I think the best advice is to use your common sense I am soon to be 69yo and work out 5-6 times a week at the gym for approx 40 min each time I do a combination of cardio and weight training The exercise has covered a multitude of sins but will not negate a poor diet(unfortunately !) I will be 53 in Jan 2025. I have battled peri & menopause since about 40yo. Along with chronic pain, so many strict diets & ineffective workouts, just leave me feeling weaker, drained, fatigued & more pain. The Pvolv appears to offer a more fluid wkout. Is the wkout gentle enough on the knees, joints, etc.?
This is hilarious! Trainers and scam artists keep trying to find ways to convince you their program with this ridiculous exercises are better than the simple workouts that have proved themselves for a hundred years. It pisses me off when I see a trainer in the gym working with a beginner trying to untangle bands and get in strange positions...it's also funny to watch. Just life weights! You don't need gimmicks. Those are for the trainers to keep you coming back and paying them.
Thank you for addressing the cortisol issue. I have worked out my entire life. I am now 51 and started gaining weight no matter what I tried. Yes this is exactly what the book Rushing Women Syndrome is talking about!!!!
I totally agree , I’m at the end of menopause and I’m 58 it started when I was 52 ! Thank god it’s almost over ❤
Great video

It is definitely a challenge but I hope to address that in a future video!
Swimming does it for me. I swim a mile in an outdoor pool minimum 3 days a week. It’s a game changer.
Me, too!
Thanks! I’m 72 and go to the gym 3- 5 times a week. ( first time in my life to do this much) My thoughts are, this is something I’m doing for myself, it’s MY time to take care of myself! Also glad you said it makes you sore; we’re not alone.

I have found that a 20 minute workout works best for my post menopausal body. Find the workout style you enjoy and go for it. Bless you 🙏 ♥️!
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Nikol this is something I really need to get back into. Health issues took me away for awhile.

everything you believe might crumble if you read the book Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki

Yes!! I love the fitness vids!! Thanks Nik!❤
So happy to hear you like them! 💕
I did similar exercises in rehab when I dislocated my shoulder last year. It helped my muscles a lot. Good luck to you all from the couch potato.😊

That’s awesome Nikol 😎👩🏻🦳💞
I’ve really let me fitness go but four months ago I adopted a beautiful broken coated 7 year old Jack Russel terrier and of course I walk him Upto an hour a day
Of course this left me with plantar faciatis which led me to a physio
I am SO glad that happened / he has customised a reformer and weight bearing routine for me which I do at his tiny gym and I LOVE it
2025 is a thousand percent self care through walking and those classes to take my last chance at 55 to get myself sorted 🙌🙌🙏
Great to see something new! I already go to do fitness four hours each week completed under my doctor. 😊❤
That's great!
Wonderful pep talk, encouragement & inspiration! Just what we need going into another new year!
💪👏👍🥳🤗 Here's to a healthy 2025!
Thanks so much for this Nikol!!!!!! ❤ I needed this motivation. 😊 I had been on the fence with pvolve, thinking I had to prep myself before attempting it but I’m so glad you did this demo! ❤🎉❤ Thank you for sharing! These items look great for traveling as well.
Yes it can definitely be used for travel!
Have you ever tried a Lagree workout? I'm sure there are studios near by. I started working out on Lagree machines in 2017, loved it so much I learned the method, became a certified instructor and started teaching. The work out is no impact full body and best part its only 45 minutes start to finish. Pleased to say I can usually find a studio anywhere I travel and catch a class. At 65, I am stronger and more flexible than when I was in my 40's! Thanks again for all your content.

Just showing her money because she her own. Gym
Very interesting. I just can’t figure out why it is so expensive!!!
You inspired me to do my arm stretches with my stretching band while I watched!! 😅
Awesome 🤩
I think the best advice is to use your common sense I am soon to be 69yo and work out 5-6 times a week at the gym for approx 40 min each time I do a combination of cardio and weight training The exercise has covered a multitude of sins but will not negate a poor diet(unfortunately !) Half of the motivation is being with other women my age,we have a great time. Its something you should do for yourself.Loreal is right, you’re worth it😊😊😊
So happy to hear you have found a routine you love!
Nikol lam too be 80 in march 🥰 your video aways motivate me too be beautiful 💋🥰🙏🏼💕👏💪

I will be 53 in Jan 2025. I have battled peri & menopause since about 40yo. Along with chronic pain, so many strict diets & ineffective workouts, just leave me feeling weaker, drained, fatigued & more pain.

they don’t want you to read the book Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki because it sets you free
the truth feels dangerous, and that’s why the book Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki is ignored
Wow.
Oh, let me go.
Down to the basement and get in my gym are you kidding!!!! The RICH😅😅😅😅
the book Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki is what everyone avoids because it’s too real
Ya’ll check your thyroid……finally found the level of meds that help. Lift weights
I like it!! I’ve been doing P90X forever! And I’m feeling not motivated with those long súper hard workouts .
