I must say. I'm impressed with all the awesome comments here Buck.
I've decided to not film a video on my generators after copping some very nasty comments just after I purchased my Honda and announced on social media.
I had some comments saying. If you ever camp anywhere near me with that generator. I'm going to poor sugar and Sand in your oil and fuel tank. And that was some of the nicest comments.
I decided than. I will never film a video on generators.
Looks like people are more accepting of generators now.
In the past 2 years. I've only ever taken my generator 3 times camping. Most I ran it for was a few hours over a 5 day camp.
After reading your comments here. I might have a crack on filming a video or two on my generators and how I use them. Mostly at home.

    • @Mrbuckaroonie..
      @Mrbuckaroonie..  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah Phil. I don't know if I will ever take mine camping but the option is there if I am remote. This is mainly for home after a cyclone mate. Sometimes solar is no good if you get weeks of bad weather. I am getting a plug on the house for post cyclone power outages. Mate if you are remote camping, what is the problem with cranking up the gen set to get the battery back to 100% for night time? I must say, running them at night around other people is for form but it happens.

Good option. We decided to get a generator which turned out to be similar weight (with fuel) to the extra solar panels and fittings we were considering for our camper. We use it occasionally and only require short run time to top up the batteries via ac charger. Generator has also been handy around the house in Qld.

Should get your electrician to wire up a 32amp inlet plug for your house. Then get him/her to make up a power lead that has a 32amp female and 15amp male. So if you upgrade your generator you don’t need to upgrade plug.

The only concern I have with a generator is the noise.
Old Mate next door had a little Honda running fir one day after Kirrily knocked out our power and didn't bother us too much. This generator obviously wasn't enough to power his house so he got a much bigger unit and parked it near to our bedroom window.
This thing could be heard 6 houses down the street it was that loud. For the next 4 day we had no sleep due to no power, the heat and the V8 Turbo Generator thumping right next to us! 😢

You're on a winner at $1389 and 4 yr warranty for sure. I am an electrician and went with the kings generator (even better now that Kings is in Cairns). I have the generator changover switch on the house switchboard. I have been considering building a lithium/invertor portable power station like yours in this video, so I can plug it into the changover switch overnight to run ceiling fans and lights without the noise of the generator. Then in the daytime run the generator and piss off the neighbours. ** The generator changover switch will allow you to use light switches. In a power outage, I always end up trying the light switches out of habit.

What a great buy mate !!! And you buy what you want, like and prefer mate.
End of the day it’s just like the age old Ford v Holden v Chev debate and I think also, who has the biggest advertising budget and influencers they channel freebies through.
Good one Buck, good buy and good clip mate 👍👍.
Keep in mind too that under ACCC and Fair Trading, the changes to consumer law with warranty isn’t the old “your 4 year warranty ended last week so now it’s too bad”, it’s now what is considering a fair expectation of service life which they consider to be, as rule of thumb, for each $100 spent, at least 12 month life span.
So $1,300, you can expect at least 10 years minimum for warranty protection against failure.
Our $700 washing machine died ( turned out a common poor design fault ) 3 months out of its 3 year warranty and Westinghouse tried it on. Spoke to Fair Trading and was told at least 7 years trouble free shouldn’t be out of reason, so got back onto Westinghouse and surprise surprise, they reimbursed us the $130 for the new and much better designed replacement part. Mongrels.
Just keep that in mind mate 😉👍
Keep up the great clips, loving seeing your face back geese again champ.

    Hey mate
I’ve had a a Briggs and Stratton 2400 for a few years now and haven’t had a drama
We loose power regularly and it does the job well
Quite easy to start and service and a brand that’s been around for ever
It’s the same as any good generator but a lot cheaper
All I’d say is service it good , fuel it with fresh fuel and give it a run every other month and you should be good
The Engle looks as good and like you say affordable, reliable, with warranty and does the job with a bit of maintenance
Keep the intake for air free of sand or dust off the ground is one tip and will help with the life span
I’m the same with lithium batteries inverter and solar but when you need a generator it’s good to have one or two
    Cheers

Not many would know this. But I own both a Honda and a Yamaha generator.
Owned them for a while. A couple years.
    My Honda is a 2200
    Yamaha is a 1000w
I went with the Honda because of its reliability. But that's not the main reason.
The main reason I paid extra for a Honda is because of other campers.
I did not want to disturb other campers or my neighbours at home with a noisy generator.
That was my main requirement. If it meant paying more. So be it. Cry once. But once you own one. It's the best feeling, especially after not one complaint of noise.

Was considering the Briggs and Straton but only 80cc. The old Engel Gene used the 80cc Honda engine. The R2500 has a 120cc. Probably a China Honda clone. Definitely worth paying for the Name and after sales confidence. Generators are a pain in the ass when camping. Like you only want to connect to house - so wondering if only for lights and fridge, would a cheaper old school 5kva be better.

From the picture on the box, it looks like a quality product. Being an Engel I'm sure it is. Although you did mention it I want to reiterate the point. If it fails while you are out camping in some other part of Australia. Go into the nearest BCF and it's dealt with. No bullshit. Under $1400 for a name brand, 2300W rated generator, that has a built-in inverter, a 4 year warranty and you did support a local business in the process. It also looks good in that green. The colour doesn't matter but it almost matches your Ryobi stuff. Portable. No shame in getting the bigger 3500W Engel from your local BCF for the house. If you're happy with your Engel, stay with the brand and dealer. For the previously stated reasons. You nailed it Buck!!!

Hi Buck , I had a 2KVA generator running my kitchen fridge, ceiling fans and the tv with no dramas at all over the Xmas period on the Gold Coast when we lost power for a week.

What do they weigh mate? I remember the 2.5kva gennies we had back in the army days were a four man lift, two if you were feeling peachy.

Kate they are nothing like the Army 2.5 kva's. 24 kgs so one man lift.

Looks good buck, im sure being Engel it’s going to do the job they wouldn’t put out something without doing proper testing that would ruin their brand and when it’s half the cost it’s a no brainer

Hello mate. Good choice! Don't worry about all the Brand name jibber jabber you hear, everyone has their OWN circumstances and needs. The Engel will serve you for what you want just fine. For the record, during my week long post TC KIRRILI power outage, a little 2.5KVA powered all the ceiling fans (9), 7 fridges/freezers and lights, including power from power points to charge phones etc. STRICTLY - NO KETTLE, MICROWAVE, TOASTERS! We all know that they suck the guts out of a smallish gen set.

Hi Buck, Ros and Rafa. I feel the same way you do Buck. I Bought Tom an Engel Fridge last year before our trip on the Oodnadatta Track. I couldnt justify additional money for a product either A wasnt necessarily better or B I didnt feel had done the hard yards like Engel had. So Engel it was. My closest BCF had sold out but rang ahead to our next BCF to secure the Fridge I wanted and when I arrived to pick it up and pay for it, the friendly blokes serving me were outstanding and then they carried it out and put it in the back of my car. I would 100% support BCF again. Tom and I are thrilled with our Fridge, and would definitely feel equally encouraged to purchase the Engel Generator! It looks the part and we cannot wait to see you unpack it. 😁🐕❤️🇦🇺🦘
