  • I’m this video I share how to create a standing pouch to hold your cotton reels or threads.
I’m using an old patchwork hexi fabric book cover but you could definitely make this from scratch too.
I show you how you can decorate your pouch with vintage inspired covered buttons - which I shared in this video:
    • DIY easy no kit fabric...
An alternative to the trifold pouch I made for Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery #roxysjournalofstitchery January prompt.
A great little slow stitching pouch to hold your threads on your craft room table or when travelling.
    Cheers,
    Christine

That’s a really lovely design. The hex pattern is beautiful, and it’s so handy! I’m imagining it hanging over the arm of a porch chair or something so it’s handy for evening sunshine stitchery.

Thank you for being my stitching partner today , I just love that quilting, I really need to make some more bags for myself, I've instructed my husband not to give stash to the charity shop on my death but to give to a sewing community like you say I'd hate to think to all those threads and fabrics ending up in land fill😢

So special to share stotching time with my stitchy friends - I do think of you all while stitching and chatting away. I think Alex wants to send my stash away while I’m still living 😂 cheers, Christine

I love this! Would love a tutorial on the construction of this pouch. For the middle pouch it looks like you had an extra long lining to fold up to make the middle pouch.

I'd venture to make the center pocket area wider -like the binding of a book. It would give you the space to flip the thread pockets over each other and wrap with twine and wrap around your precious cloth buttons. It is very nice!!!

Such a great design, Christine. I am definitely going to give this a go! Hoping to do a lot of stitching outside this coming summer, so this should work well. By the way, if you consider yourself 27 years of age, your parents could actually be in their 40's, let alone 50's! 😉 I like to think stitching keeps us young (er).

Supper cool idea. I’m thinking three of my swap squares across on each side will do the trick. Love the pocket in the middle I’m sure I could make this as well, will place on my list of things I want to sew when I have time, lol list is getting a little longish but I can so use fabric buttons so this would be two ticked of list. My excuse so sticking to it. Um did house work bit of cleaning, had a cuppa and stopped world war three (cat and dog playing together this morning, dog always losses and invariably ends up with a scratch for no this is enough) all while watching, gosh I’m supper accomplished today. Yep weather here very strange (WC SI NZ) we are having lovely fine weather but out of no where we get this mist, it’s not wet it’s just misty very strange. Can’t see the house across the street or next door also makes walking the dog at times very interesting, mist will clear and your back to a supper sunny warm ish day. Trees are starting to turn little early for this mind we don’t have many trees like this here mostly covered in native bush.

What a fabulous idea for your swap squares! Sounds like there is never a dull moment with your furry friends 😆 and that mist sounds very intriguing (and would no doubt make for magic mystery tours)! Just back from a few days away with work on regional Victoria and passed back through very smoky conditions as there are bad bushfires near Ballarat. Glad to be home. Cheers, Christine
