- Video tutorial from Jen Best of Beaker Button showing you how to make a crosswheel Dorset Button, the easiest Dorset button to make. You will need a closed ring, a length of strong thread or sock yarn 100x the width of the rings diameter (so a 25mm ring will need 2.5m of thread), scissors, and a blunt needle. See beakerbutton.c...
for more Dorset button goodness.
oh this looks fun - thank for giving such a clear demo. I now know what to do with the random metal rings in my stash!
Glad it was helpful! 😀

Thank you - it doesn't half make a difference having someone show you how to do this lovely craft than reading it from a book. Love the accent. Thank you.
Thank you :-)
Truly beautiful and most clear explanation. Thank you so much.

Nice
@BeakerButtons this video is beautifully done, thank you! Is there any chance you could do one for the heart-shaped buttons please as we are now struggling with those?
I make my heart buttons the same way as the round ones. The only difference is I squash the stitches around the ring more. I start in the top left bump of the heart, at the point I would wrap down for my first spoke. I also ski the short spike that forms from the dip between the bumps at the top of the heart.
Just wondering, how are your rings made? I couldn't see a weld point but they look very solid.
Cast I think. Really not sure though, sorry. No soldering though, which makes them very smooth.
Olá vc pode me falar se agulha de bordado e a linha é de croche quantos metros de linha eu uso?!
About 100 x the width of the button.
where do you get your rings from?
I sell them on my website
It's too-loud here ...... have you spoken how to know the length for the size of ring? Do five-ten stitches, measure, cry, measure again .....?
Hi. The description has details about thread length and materials needed. Roughly 100 x the width of the ring is a good starting point. So my 18mm ring needed 1.8m of thread. It will vary depending on tension, ring thickness, thread type, and pattern. Don't cry, it's only button making.
