    Here in 2019 to say thanks for making this video! I used these techniques when I sent my own cards to get graded by PSA. I just got my returns back and I’m addicted!

    I've stumbled upon your channel at work in the last week and you sure did help the time fly! Thank you so much for making these informative and educational videos. Hearing your reaction to getting good grades also is highly entertaining. I've recently got back into collecting Pokemon cards and am very inspired to send some in to PSA for grading. Keep up the awesome work! :)

    Dude this is an absolutely fantastic video! Probably the finest Pokemon or PSA related video I've ever seen, I am subscribing! Congrats on that SICK PSA 10 reverse holo Charizard man I hope you still have it in your collection! I recently decided to send a bunch of Pokemon cards in to PSA but of course I won't get them back for months. The concept you have for this video showing the entire process is phenomenal. I am thinking of doing something similar next time I send in some PSA submissions.

    Quick question, I've had some bad experience with card savers. They're too tight and I've damaged cards putting them in and out. I prefer top loaders with sleeves of course. I've never submitted to PSA yet, working on my first submission. I will be using top loaders. Please give me your opinion on the best way to do it.

    Very nice video for sure, but it seems the online submission changed a bit since you did this video because now you literally fill out an online copy of the physical form, it seems more confusing than what you were doing because of this, could you make a quick video to go through the updated process by any chance? Thanks!

    Great video. For pokemon cards, when choosing the ultra-pro semi-rigid card holders that the card and penny sleeve go into, do you use 2.5" x 3.5"? The link provided is for a larger size.

    • @GemMintPokemon
      @GemMintPokemon  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kyle Hendricks it holds cards up to that size. I would not go any smaller. The link that I sent you is actually on the smaller side. I would recommend you use Card Saver I (card saver ones). These are actually fairly tight fitting on the card

    Superb video, great work. Props to you for all the effort. Just out of curiosity, how often do you have to return purchases because they were not as described? I've had to do it a couple of times, but always lose out on return shipping. It's tiring me to the point where I am getting anxious to buy from sellers on ebay unless I kind of know them or their reputation.

    • @GemMintPokemon
      @GemMintPokemon  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Durre I always hold the sellers to what they say in the listing and ask questions PRIOR to purchasing. If you or the seller aren't sure of the quality, ultimately you're the one taking the risk.
      1. If I take a risk on an excellent to NM lot because the Charizard looks flawless, I'm not going to return it if it's played or excellent in person.
      2. If the seller says the listing is Mint or Pack Fresh with no other indications in the listing, I will risk buying almost everytime if the price is right. About 30% or less of these cards are gradable from unknown sellers. Another 50% are good enough that I would feel unethical sending it back even though it's not truly Mint or Pack Fresh. The last 20% are just misrepresentations by the seller & will be returned everytime. This last 20% costs me the most time & money with fighting the seller/ebay, uploading pictures, return shipping.
      I've got good at the return process (not the best thing to be good at), so most of the cost goes to the seller. It's never my intention of returning something, however I will give people the benefit of the doubt. I'll fight the last 20% all day unless it's a $5 or $10 card.
      Both the LC lot & the Shining Charizard were returned from this video. The LC guy said they were Pack Fresh Mint & the Shining Charizard had mint on the listing in multiple places. Clearly this was not the case in the video. I had no idea what the LC set looked like before recording the segment. You can see my reaction in real time of the disappointment since the seller listed these as Pack Fresh. I did review all the cards before making a final return decision. It was just more disappointment...
      I hope this helps!

    • @ShiningKarpKarp
      @ShiningKarpKarp 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree with what you said. I was referring to the sellers that completely misrepresent their card conditions (either unpurposely or purposely). I think it's been about the same for me, maybe a little more (30%) of purchases that were badly advertised. It's frankly a bit disturbing to me. I am glad people like you are around in the community. People who know what they are doing and do things fair and square. Thank you for your reply!

    • @GemMintPokemon
      @GemMintPokemon  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Do the research & request high quality pictures. Many of my purchases will fall through right there. Occasionally you'll get scenarios like the shining charizard where it looked really good under the regular light. My other light (not even really sure what to call it) showed a completely different story.

  • @josephrao5092
    @josephrao5092 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tutorial! I have my own collection of sealed packs that I want to open when I'm older and this video makes grading seem sooo much easier, but also expensive! LOL
    I have a BIG question though... what if I want to grade a first edition charizard? Would I value that on the PSA form as over 500 (assuming mint) and pay extra to get graded? Would that be included with the 15 free grades? That's a bit confusing to me.

    • @GemMintPokemon
      @GemMintPokemon  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Up to you. I'd send it in a bulk submission. As long as I buy sig confirmation or insurance with shipping I'm not worried. The biggest risk is getting it there.

    • @josephrao5092
      @josephrao5092 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does that mean the extra money I would pay if I value it over 500 is more for me than them? I just want to make sure they dont refuse to grade it because I sent it in undervalued. Like I see you put the value of your cards, so would they not grade my card if it says over 500 in a bulk submission? If they still do then awesome!

    Do you need to send the cards in semi-rigid card holders? I have a high quality magnetic card holder, could i possibly send the card to PSA in that holder instead of the semi-rigid ones?

    for the nine-tails, if you look at the foil, you can see some waves in it, very small hills, maybe that's why

    I have a question for card storing: I am currently storing cards into the card savers from ultra-pro you just showed in the video. However I use resealable perfect fit sleeves instead of penny sleeves to protect the cards. Do you think it could damage the cards in the long term? I know i am late for this video but i need help in that

    • @GemMintPokemon
      @GemMintPokemon  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more of a challenge to remove a card from a perfect fit sleeve. The other sleeves do not fit tightly around the card which make it easier change card sleeves. If you plan to never remove the card from the perfect fit sleeve, then I don't see an issue with it. I find it more difficult to safely remove a card from a very tight fitting sleeve.

      Gem Mint Pokemon thank you for your reply. Basically I plan to keep the cards in those ultra pro card savers, which i think are pretty nice. Since it is going to be a rather definitive solution I first put them in resealable perfect fit sleeves by ultimate guard with the resealable edge on the down side (the one that first enters the card saver).
      Do you think this system could damage the cards in the long term? I think about lack of air or excessive pressure on the corner.
      Sorry for the super long question but you are the only one i found using card savers 😁

      @@riccardomilanesi6377 That should be okay. Just try a few things & use your best judgment. If it doesn't feel right, mix it up. Good luck!

    If I'm doing a re-grade, would you recommend stating that in the "notes" when I'm filling out the description? Or even putting the PSA number on the previous grade of the card?

    • @GemMintPokemon
      @GemMintPokemon  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Don't mention it if they're loose cards. If regrading in slabs, you need to submit a seperate regrade submission.

    If you're not in the us, is the shipping cost really really high? I'd like to start my collection, and to grade some card that looks in really good condition, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price. Is there any alternative for people outside the us o is PSA the best one to get graded cards,

    I'll probably try and get a few things graded, but my overall experience will determine if I ever do it again. I'll probably just send a few full art cards I opened directly from brand new packs. If all of those don't get at least 8s, then I won't bother doing it again in the future. I also dislike the idea of factory marks causing the grades to decline when that is not something you have any control over.

    I will only PSA Grade for Cards I plan to sell because it adds value. As a serious Collector I highly recommend just buying 4 screw card holders for cards you do not intend to sell. It's a long process (I like to show off) so I bought 1mm Foam and gold printing paper and UV protective film to display my cards (That i don't intend to sell in). the foam is to line the card holder because there is a small gap. the Gold printing paper is to print the name of the card on it and the UV protective clear film is to prevent discoloration. I'll be starting to post videos for it on the channel soonish.

    Hello I have a question, do you have to get a psa membership to get your cards graded? I have some cards I wish to get graded, but don't see myself grading more cards in the future after, so I feel like getting a membership might be a waste of money for me.
