Great video. I always find it so funny when people try and have their dog say hi to mine. Like I don’t get mad most of the time cause I am not that kind of person. And most people will ask first and I just say no she is in training. But that ladies dog was out of control. Like nuts. And the fact that it had an esa vest of was cracking me up. I love that you are posting more regularly cause it means I get more Dallas content.
It is funny, she was letting it say hi to all the other dogs in the store. But then she approached a corgi and it was aggressive so I think she learned her lesson after that (no one got hurt) but it definitely frightened her.
My sdit also gets pretty distracted in pet stores (sniffing everything, staring at dogs) but will regain focus with a couple “look at me” ‘s. He does pretty well in regular stores tho, ignoring people walking by and not sniffing/staring at store products. Any tips for regaining focus quicker with distractions around?
Using treats or a toy to reward them for their focus always helps if they get distracted. Eventually they will not need as many treats or reinforcement for their attention
Thank you for sharing your experience! Even with not being out in a while, it looks like you're both doing well! ❤ I do the same with my pup, pet stores are for sniffing 😊 Ohhh the wild one leashes are super pretty, just a bit pricey!

I’m looking for a Golden Doodle to be my hearing dog when needed because i’m hard of hearing (with hearing aids) & deaf (without hearing aids night/early mornings) and take prescribed medications to help with my anxiety but I will need the Golden Doodle to nudge or paw at me when someone’s around me that i can’t hear or when there’s a noise i’m not responding to that’s aimed at me.. is it possible to get a SD that way ?? i can’t take him to work w me because i work in a hospital part time (5.5hr shifts M-F) and would only need the SD when i’m going out in public to help with my hearing and anxiety
It makes total sense but after not being in public in a while she might get a bit anxious I think the same thing happened during Covid people got so used to not working in person that doing it again could feel a bit overwhelming. Good luck with the training
I think that’s definitely the case. Today I took her out again and she did a lot better. I think I just need to make an effort of taking her out at least a few times a week. I don’t take her to work much so that’s why she hasn’t been out sense I started working full time
@@dallastheservicedoodle7236 that makes sense, about her doing better and you trying to make more time to take her out. If you don’t mind me asking and it’s fine if you don’t wanna answer why don’t you take her to work a lot?
@@dallastheservicedoodle7236 hi. Hope your public access reinduction with Dallas is going well. I was wondering if you had any service dog gear like vests that that you no longer use which you would consider selling or trading for.
I'm a bit worried because I don't leave the house much at all, since I can't drive or walk far. When I get my SD, I'll take them where and when I can, but, I'll do whatever it takes, since my future heavily relies on them.
Im actually planning to train my dog to recognize anxiety in people! Im not bringing her out of the house just in case but i will teach her different methods and techniques to calm anxiety.
I use treats I get from Amazon. They are called vital essentials freeze dried raw meat treats. They are a little pricey but very high value. I also use treats called Charlee bear crunchy dog treats that are less expensive and lower value. I use a mixture in my treat pouch
Im working on going in to be evaluated and get a PSD note to be able to have a service dog for my PTSD, and as a quick question, is there any smaller dog breeds you could recommend for that kind of thing to get or look out for?
I know that there aren’t as many little breeds that are super successful in service work due to the types of jobs they do. But mini goldendoodles are smaller and still great for training.
Hi I have a question I’m sure you can answer with all your knowledge on this situation. By law can the housing apartments I live in make me get my male dog neutered? He is my therapy animal.
Technically therapy dogs don’t have the same rights as service dogs. So I am not sure on that one but I am assuming that they probably can if he is a therapy dog
Yeah, glad it was just a pet store but the fact that she has a harness for it makes me believe she takes it other places to. But that’s perfect proof of the fact that ESAs don’t require training and don’t have public access rights
One thing I've a;ways wondered about service dogs.... I get that businesses "have to" allow them into stores etc.... BUT... and I've never found an actual answer for this.... BUT... What happens if it's a small shop (like a mom & pop style bookshop or whatever) where the ONLY employee in the building has a really bad allergy, or is just terrified of dogs. Are they allowed to refuse entry then, or how does that work? If not, then how does that work? the employee legally required to hide in the back and "just trust" the person with the dog isn't going to steal and leave exact cash on the counter? Do all businesses need someone on standyby to come in and clean to remove the allergens? Not trying to start an argument, just a random thought that I've never found the answer to.
So the answer to that question is in the ADA laws. A business cannot deny access to a service dog handler because they have allergies. They need to figure something out so they can still serve the customer with the disability. Another example that came to mind is the other day I was reading messages in a group chat on Facebook for a cruise that we are going on. One person said “I would really appreciate it if people wouldn’t wear a lot of perfume bc it gives me migraines”. Well I get that the sent of perfume can give someone a migraine but it is not the responsibility of others to not wear their perfume just bc this person may get a migraine. So just like service dogs. A business cannot deny access bc an employee has a allergy.
Hey! I plan on getting a goldendoodle puppy for a service dog in about a month. How should I start with training? I’m nervous I’m going to screw up. Any tips? Btw I love your content!
I’m so glad u like our content! Goldendoodles are great I wish u the best of luck. But some advice for u would be to find a professional trainer that is knowledgeable on service dogs. Have them available if u run into any issues or challenges. Take it slow don’t throw your dog right into public access without preparation. I made that mistake and it made Dallas burnt out for a while. Don’t forget to bond with your dog. U will be ready to start training right away but don’t forget to let them be a puppy. Laugh at their silly quirks, let them have play time and sniffy walks. Start with socializing. Take the dog to pet friendly places like lowes, tractor supply, ace hardware, Home Depot, the park… and just let them get used to the busy noises and the environment
Check out Nate Schoemer on TH-cam. He has lots of great content plus I think a service dog playlist. Hope you have a great time getting your puppy. Golden doodles are such great dogs.
I couldn’t believe how nuts that first dog was in the pet store! And did after you said that Dallas is.a Golden Doodle, did he say “mine is a mutt, too.”
Yeah there was also a dog that I didn’t even get on camera. It was a corgi and it tried to attack Dallas literally! It was so aggressive I have no idea why she would even think of bringing it to a pet store. Honestly it should have been kicked out it was trying to attack every dog it saw. But yeah he said his was a mutt too. Ik it’s kind of a controversial topic and people have different opinions on mutts vs pure breeds. In my opinion a goldendoodle is not a pure breed, but is not a mutt either. In my opinion a mutt is a dog mixed with many breeds and you can’t even tell what it is. A goldendoodle is a mixed breed that was intentional and created by professional who did a lot of research. Ik that many people don’t like doodles bc they have become so popular and many uneducated pet owners are breeding them without any research or health testing.
@@dallastheservicedoodle7236 yeah, corgis can be pretty unpredictable in temperament, even from day to day. I have a corgi, and she is pretty unpredictable!
Hi! I just found your channel recently and find it really inspirational and you always seem to have such a positive and uplifting mood :) I personally am in the process of self-training my SD (a GSD mix) for C-PTSD and POTS. Have you been able to train Dallas to alert to these episodes when your heart rate is increased? I previously trained a Diabetic Alert Dog for a family member but I'm not quite as certain as how to train them to alert to heart rate or just those general "feeling sick" moments of heart racing/nausea/lightheadedness. Thankfully I have not passed out recently but when I was younger I used to have more severe episodes where I would black out/pass out momentarily. Also, I am curious as to how you record your sessions. Do you film with a GoPro or something similar, or do you use your phone? I'd like to start recording my sessions of training and public access work and I think it could be useful in case I am ever questioned on her training or taken to court etc if she was to be attacked by someone else's pet/fake/ESA etc but I also don't want to end up having hundreds of hours of footage... Any advice would be appreciated! Have a blessed day :) Edit: I also just wanted to say I too live with my SD at college! She has been a true lifesaver for me and helping me get over some of my depression, anxiety and trauma. One of my biggest peeves is the fake SDs and the ESAs that a *ton* of other students have. They can be very obnoxious and out of control...I'm convinced that at least some of the students have just brought their pets from home--I was told by one directly that they faked a dr's letter to get their pet approved by SDS. Needless to say, I've heard of fights happening between dogs. It's a bit concerning for those who have legitimate disabilities and needs for service dogs. Unfortunately there's not really any fenced in areas for exercising dogs or letting them roam (I'm in the midst of your video where you are talking about letting Dallas run in the baseball field) so I got a long (15' I believe) leash and some balls and a frisbee. While I take her on long walks every day, I haven't let her run because to avoid a lot of the people and other dogs it means I have to get up insanely early. Any tips?
I never trained Dallas to do HR alerts. My trainer said that is extremely hard to do and very few dogs are able to do it. She has done it naturally a couple of times though. For filming for a vlog I use a GoPro, and a canon camera. When I’m just at home filming short sessions I use my phone. I normally delete the footage after I post the video to TH-cam or tiktok. That way it’s not taking up space but I can still go back and watch it. The college situation is difficult. My college was small and the disability director was very educated on the laws so we didn’t get many fakes. And people usually had cats for ESAs. But yeah if there’s a lot of untrained dogs around I wouldn’t let her run off leash just in case. But the long leash is a good idea so she can still have some freedom but if a dog approaches u can pull her back to u still.

I personally would have told those 2 people with those reactive dogs to get away from my dog, service dog or not, don’t care if it’s a pet store those dogs behavior was unacceptable, I probably would have still had mine vested and wouldn’t have been so lenient on my sd, cause there’s a chance once you start letting some behaviors slide the dog will take that mile after you give an inch, the dog may figure, “oh well I can be distracted and excited in a pet store around other dogs, so it must mean I can get distracted every time I see another dog now” you know? Also those dogs probably would have bitten if they got any closer judging by their behavior, IMO, every time I’m out, me and my service dog are working, home or a friends house is free time, but that’s just me, just wanted to warn you, that if you give a dog an inch they may take a mile, keeping your dog around dogs like that without giving your dog much feedback or advocating for them by either moving away, creating space, correcting them for getting distracted, can make them unfocused, nervous, and possibly reactive, it’s like SOOO common for dogs to become reactive or super nervous with bad interactions like that you wouldn’t believe,
Thanks for the warning, however I have had my dog for over 5 years and it’s never been a problem. Every dog adapts to their owner just like every owner adapts to their dog.
