- This is How the CN Switches out the Caterpillar Plant at Decatur IL.
A pair of IC GP38-2s in CN Paint is the power for today. They have to make several shoving movements and once finished back down to their yard. Also while watching them switch DREI with haulage rights back down into the ADM Railserve Yard.

Hello first time viewer. This video. This blue building is a smash hit. Yes Pike Stuff is the first thing that came to this viewers mind , 😄among your other viewers very well recognized & received. A CN fan & model train collector of CN among other railroads. Definitely want models of these engines also viewed. Awesome train video, well done. 🎥👍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🔵⚪🔴⚪⚫
Thank you so much. Appreciate the feed back.
The size of those CAT mainframes is jaw-dropping!
Yes they are.
TH-cam sent me here. Great video
i so glad CN is still using Gp38-2s
Same and thanks for watching.
Wow that warehouse in the background looks just like a PikeStuff engine house lol.
🤣🤣 You know what's funny I was thinking the very same thing. I actually have that model to. 🔵⚪ I m looking at this building 's characteristics.🤭 I have a Bachmann Plus Freight Building 3 track, after seeing this video I will paint it identical to this one we are viewing. 👍
@HaroldAlexis-bb8sd lol so cool I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw that.
LoL 🤣. Agreed 👍
That's exactly what I was thinking, too! Maybe PikeStuff make 1:1 scale kits, too.
Fun to see Decatur as a source of freight traffic. Thx!
Thanks for watching.
Awesome video with train. Winter greetings from Poland. 👍

Thank you Very Much.
The dudes at work: "The guy with the camera is back again!!" lmaooo
Nice job. I watched the entire 30 minutes.
Thanks Doug been a long time since Ive talked to you at Wabic. Thanks for watching.
I’m out of action for a few weeks. I had hip replacement surgery and I have been recovering. Hope to be out again late February or early March.

Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for posting it
great stuff. Don't often see all the switching going on in other railman videos.
looks like the conductor does a lot of walking.
Thanks for Watching. Switching is my favorite thing to watch.
It just the nature of the beast with the rules that the CN has us follow...
If your lucky jaw tooth has some switching in his videos along with distant signal
nice catch!
Glad you enjoyed it
looks like a awesome spot to rail fan.😊😊👍👍
This town has about a dozen spots that are great for train action.
I just subbed.
Ain't nothing like the sound of a 4-stack 645 non turbo!!! Especially, ex-ICG/IC GP38-2's.
I totaally agree
Fantastic footage, I really enjoyed watching!
Thank you very Much!!!
I did notice the one frame they left back in the shed, I was thinking someone forgot to chain it down. NowI know why. Lol
Sure didnt expect WI Southern loco to appear in South Central IL !
The DREI has 2 of WSOR locos currently and they are a treat to have around.
Nice video Zach!
Glad you enjoyed it
I can see why. Many years ago I used to watch the IC freights roll through Rantoul, Illinois
I got a few trains in Rantoul , Nice Town.
Quite the switching video.
Thanks for watching

Thank you very much!
So I am both the conductor engineer and the person who loaded those rail cars… trained professional I am.. plus I filmed this too.. yep did it all.. your welcome viewers
Drugs are bad
Great job love to watch trains switchings
My papaw worked at Carolina cat
спасибо большое! Я вас люблю! ❤
They really need their own TrackMobile.
Looks like there is a red shuttle wagon sitting behind the fence.
i bet there was a lot of pissed off drivers waiting
what are the big pieces behind the maintainer,,,its got to be big
Hey !!!! How does insurance work for rail loads ?????😊😊😊😊🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🍺🍺🍺🍺
We need help from Canada?
1 more, 1/2 car
15 feet 10 5 feet
That’ll do
Stretch it
That’ll do
3 step.
Who is responsible for supplying the tie down chains and binders? The shipper or the railroad?
Can be either. Customer can request cars with tie downs already on board or use their own.
Nice video! Love industry switching! Did Caterpillar take over loading operations from Keen Transport? Keen opened that facility in 2000.
I assume but not 100 percent. Several Cat Logos on the main entrance and main door to the building.
No keen still loads trucks and railcars for cat.
@@Tinzyll Confirms what I thought...thanks!
If they are going to use IC reporting marks to reserve the rights to them, they ought to use the IC paint scheme as well. Death Star all the way for me.
😂😂😂
Orange and white for me
CN has the ugliest color scheme.
@jeffreygosselin7576 Agreed
I wonder, are these former GM&O units?
What are the giant assemblies on the back two cars. Do they attach to the graders?
Off-highway truck chasses.
I used to work for IC, started at CC...i couldnt wait till CN had my buyout ready....is this a old video or recent? They were talking about trucking everything in and out.
filmed in Jan 2024
Is it me, or is the one assembly (2nd flat from the end of the cut) not chained down?
i seen that too maybe y it went back
You would be correct I was about to go chain that unit down but they showed up before I could get to it.
Are they CN employees? or are they just using foreign power?
CN Employees.
Trains should have a back-up alert so people know they are coming. Like on new cars when in reverse.
This has to be an old video. On January 20, 2024 there was snow on the ground and Cat Moto Graders are no longer built in Decatur.
Nope Filmed 1/5/2024
The largest Caterpiller motor grader is still assembled at Decatur because its primary market is in mining applications.
@@bn13814 There is no such machinel as a 62M. Cat dropped the suffix and now identifies their graders with a number only. The largest is the 24 that is shown in this video.
@@alco4248 Thanks...I was thinking of something else.
Close up, that's why they don't like rail fan's.
nice catch!
Thanks!
