Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 4, episode 10 of REBELS!!!! I.......I just don't even have words.....!!! It feels so real now. We've seen a lot of rebels get picked off on this show, but this episode destroyed the notion of plot armor for main characters!!! When I look back on it, there was SO much leading up to this, in this ep and the last few, that it all makes sense. But wow, that does NOT help with the devastation!!!! I can't believe he's gone :(((( I truly thought there was a way for everyone to make it out of this and have a happy ending. On top of that, the rest of this ep was amazing as well - from the witty banter, to the high flying action and fun twists, to the heartfelt moments (!!!) and even the music! I will miss Kanan so much.....and I know our crew will never be the same without him. :((((( Great ep! Enjoy!!! ~ MH

Yeah, I knew this one would be hard for you.
On the subject of Kanan's eyes, it's implied that getting his sight back was a Gift from the Force itself in his final moments; one last sight of the people he loved before this chapter of his existence came to a close.

Two Star Wars legends gone in the same day. Kanan here, and the mighty James Earl Jones. May the force be with both.

One of the most tragic and heroic sacrifices in Star Wars.

I have only seen Rebels through reaction channels, never on my own, yet this episode is so powerful it even brings me to the edge of tears. Masterpiece

At first, I thought you were crazy, but then I realized I have essentially done the same thing with other shows, so I guess I can't blame you. Definitely watch the show on your own at some point, though. There's are a lot of stuff channels like these have to cut out, so guarantee you'll find plenty of more stuff to love.

"They wouldn't take characters out", she says, right before watching Jedi Night.

Season 4 of rebels episode 10 was definitely a heartbreaking episode, Kanan had to sacrifice himself to save his friends. Just like his master sacrificed herself on Kaller during order 66. Like master and apprentice.

To me this is one of the saddest and best Star Wars moments in the franchise. The Kanan/Hera story was just heartbreaking. It’s storytelling at its finest.

Oh, Melissa.... I've waited a long time for this moment. (heh, sorry, couldn't resist). This episode is one of the reasons I love this series over Clone Wars. We lose a main character, and in such a "Jedi" way: Self-sacrifice for the people he loves. The build up was perfect! Even my cold heart gets emotional watching this episode.
2:40 - I don't remember if you've seen "Rogue One" yet, but if you haven't, I apologize in advance for the very minor spoiler: Both Chopper and the Ghost itself have very brief "background" cameos in the 3rd act. If you HAVE seen the movie, go back and look for them. I won't tell you where, unless you've seen the movie. You've replied to me before, and it means a lot. I enjoy your content here on YT, but sadly, being disabled, I can't afford Patreon accounts.
8:00 - Thrawn is actually kinda close to the Emperor. I'm guessing you haven't read any of the books, most of which are classified as "Legends", now... but Thrawn's backstory ties in closely with Palpatine. That's why he has such a high rank (Grand Admiral). Tarkin, obviously, is the same, as he's a Grand Moff.
16:00 - Don't feel bad, my eye liner ran down my face, too the first time I watched this episode. Hell, it STILL makes me well up a bit, and I've seen it dozens of times.
17:05 - No, Kanan knew. Rewatch the previous episode, and this one again. The Loth Wolf essentially tells him what is coming (without even saying a word other than "Dume"). The Loth Wolf reminded him of who he truly is: Caleb Dume, Jedi Knight. Dume also has a double meaning: "Doom". But as a Jedi, he accepted his fate, knowing it was for the greater good.

100%. This series, while it felt different than TCW, still hit so hard. 😭😭

Before the season 2 finale he promised Hera they'd see each other again. Then he was blinded. Now when he is making the ultimate sacrifice and the force is flowing through him to save his friends, the force returns his eyesight so that he can fulfill promise and see Hera one last time. An absolutely incredible star wars moment. By far the most well done death scene in the franchise.

This episode has a lot of references to the novel, a new dawn. Governor Pryce mentions how lovely Hera’s voice is. In the novel, Kanan fell in love with her voice before he even met her.
Kanan always had that longer hair. He pretty much kept it the same since he was a kid. But he cut it here as a symbol of resolve and change.
“Kanan Jarrus I don’t crash I have really exiting landings.” Was never spoken in the show until this moment however, it was more or less her catchphrase in the novel and Kanan comic.

If only the tragedy of Rebels ended here. Yet there will be unbeliable joy as well. You are in for a ride, this was just the start.

Our Cowboy Jedi is one with the force. Anytime someone out of the blue in Star Wars says "May the Force Be With You" it is never good.

You need to see the Heroes Fan Productions and their video on Kanan.
If this hit your feels, that video will make you basically make you cry all over again, and most likely cry even more than during that scene

Long had fans dreaded and expected this moment. For continuity, one or both of the Jedi characters had to die.

Yeah sad but it had to happen somehow and going out like a hero was the best way. We only have a couple year till they catch up to the movies and Kanan had to be gone by then since he wasn't in the movies. And actually they say his sight came back because at that moment he was so connected to the force he was becoming one with it while still alive.

I am someone who does not cry when characters I like die. Sorry, I'm just not good at that. This is one of the only two animated deaths in Star Wars that I actually cried. You haven't gotten to the other one yet......
