I love these higher end Squares. I can't bring myself to spend $1,700 on a Casio but I have purchased 3 of the half metal GMW-B5000 Squares. I just bought the blue one used for $300 and can't wait for it to arrive. So far my favorite is the silver model.

You're going to love the blue square. I've had mine for a few months and I can barely take it off.

Worth it to me too. Squares are legendary. It's nice to see Casio give them some extra special treatment.

I think they are massively overpriced, but you can't deny that they're cool. That's why I can't hate them. They just look darn cool. Realistically they probably should only be $200 more than the steel models, but Casio is going to charge whatever they want, and they're selling out so the pricing strategy is working.

I prefer a positive display. Negative displays must be the best selling and more popular choice otherwise they wouldn’t be used in so many models. These are beautiful watches and the camo print looks like a work of art.

Got the first G Shock square about 10 years ago. Only wear it a few times a year but it sit in the watch box and I set my automatic watches to it. I just got into the full metal G Shock Squares and they are really cool...i would definately consider picking up the camo titanium

If you ask me, Titanium seems like the perfect metal for a tough watch.

    • @hogi9929

It depends, it's a very soft metal uncoated, it scratches easily. I own the black titanium with the dlc coating, and it's very durable.

Titanium scratches really easily unless it's grade 5 or has a hardening coating on it.

I recommend the DIY-solution: Titanium Bezel and Bracelet are around 250 USD on Aliexpress, if they are on Sale even cheaper. Plus another 200 for a GW-B5600 and off you go.
I just finished a GA-2100 with a Titanium Bracelet for less than 230 USD all in.

    • @raksh9

If there's a black DLC titanium bezel for the bluetooth GWB5600, I'm in. Or for a GMWB5000, as I have the blue version and would like to change it up for a slightly lighter and more scratch resistant bezel.

An olive drab titanium would look awesome. All matte with negative display. Maybe gold pushers and screws like the stealth wealth has. I would probably finally spend the ridiculous amount for that one.

  • @BatCountryAdventures
    @BatCountryAdventures 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

After seeing the dismissive comments, I am starting think that people might be underestimating the costs and performance of DLC. I mean the Sapphire glass and Titanium alone are already a massive mark up on how much it would be to produce but to have decent DLC application will elevate the costs and performance of the watch so much more!
The truth is the standard G-shock is remarkably resilient but only in its core. The resin bands and bezel still scuffs and rubs and the mineral glass still gets scratched up. The premium essentially the same core toughness and extend that to the exterior of the watch to make it a complete package.
It's not expensive for expensive sake like some branded Swiss watches with fragile gemstones attached. All the added cost is for better materials and treatment that further the core G-Shock principles.
Seriously, have a look at some DLC test video. It's incredible technology!

My problem is that I've categorized G-Shocks into a cheap beater watch class. It's what I wear when I'm working on the car or fixing the plumbing. They are already lightweight so I don't see the point in titanium. However I completely understand irrationality when it comes to purchases. I spent over $100 on a freakin' pair of jeans for pete's sake. I'm just as guilty.

Just read an article on Time & Time that may shed some light as to one of the reasons why these are so much more expensive than metal squares:
"Titanium, being a notoriously difficult metal to machine, required G-Shock to create an entirely separate assembly line as the previous moulds and machines could not be repurposed to fabricate the full metal titanium models."
So yeah, who knows how much that cost, but I guess there's more to it that just charging more because they can.

Not a fan of a metal that scratches more easily donning a camo pattern. Also, mineral glass is more shock resilient than sapphire. I love the stainless steel versions. 1/4 the cost, spring bars in bracelet, tougher. My verdict is that they're not worth it. Very cool though.

They are trying to sell you a Tron Model for $800 and it's just a Stainless Steel Watch with a kool laser edged pattern, Which is seriously overpriced for that they are, a $50 Watch with a $750 price markup once they add the stainless steel bracelet, they don't even add Sapphire Crystal at that price. That's insane.
I actually bought both, the Black Camouflaged and the tron version. Got them both in Mint Condition with all original box and paperwork for $1,300 from Owners who purchased them at full price. I take my time and hunt them down for the right price.
Also every other watch coming out is a special or Limited Edition. So it's getting a bit Corny.

I would like the titanium unpainted, just the pure titanium. I have an unpainted all titanium watch that is 20+yo and looks just fine. Why painting a high quality material, i would rather see and feel the high quality titanium on my wrist. 1500€ is to much for what it is, it doesnt even has an OLED screen but ol' lcd, oled instead would be so much more durable as supposed to be for a gshock. i guess these watches have their rich fanclub to spend $1700 for a gshock, now there are some titanium gshocks for 4500€.

I can't justify the cost. I don't know how much titanium costs. The most I spent on a Gshock is about 169 for a GBX100-1 I can't see spending more than 200 dollars for any gshock and I know there are many 800 dollar range, 500 dollar range. All over the place. Casio used to be known as a value watch company. So I don't get it. Not my business if someone wants to spend that kind of money. For that price, there are many Sinn watches for around that or even less.
