That's some of the best rust inhibitors I've ever used myself. Keep up the good work

My dad bought an '82 626 new, fully loaded, blue with blue velour interior, sunroof, auto, alloy wheels etc. I can recall the car being almost terrifyingly underpowered (torque was almost nil when you wanted to pass on the hwy), and it had some odd gremlins (power door locks would pop up and down on their own). The "chrome" on the emblems flaked off, and the wheels lost their finish, turning black under the clear coat. And then the rust started. A small bubble of rust on the rear quarter spread so fast you could almost see it rusting. The car was only 10 years old when it was towed away to the junk yard. Engine and transmission were probably still good, but the body was shot.

Man, never seen a 626 sleeper. Back in the day, some fooled around with the hatchback two door version the GLC. There was a 626 GT with a 2.2 turbo and 145 hp. Chances are you have the the 1.6 or a 2.0 liter, about 75 to 90 hp.
Considering you have two many doors and a automatic I may put a little timing, maybe a header, but you do not have much to work with. Maybe a Honda K engine? If I were you I will put the money in the Monte Carlo.

OH , my friend we are already deep in this motor now... LOL they don't sell anything for this 81 2.0L MA block. might have to see what my Dremel will do. or what fits with the 3spd auto Jatco Trans.

Well, the 626 is a great little commuter, there are two ways to go, replace the entire driveline for a powerful one, or the way I think you are going to go, doing the best with what you have. You can hot rod anything, is just how much you want to spend. Your biggest gains going normally aspirated might be obtained working the heads, timing and letting it breath, assuming your engine is healthy. Going turbo will bring you close to 150 HP, but the rest of the driveline will be under heavy stress. Almost all 626 build outs online have a 13 B rotary engine. Do you know the new 2025 626 is going to have rear wheel drive again! Viva la Maquina!@@_BYC
