@Leeswinburn The pg tips with the chimps are the best and that comes from the adverts as well and it's absolutely brilliant and it's great to watch thanks mate 👍👍👍❤❤❤
I still remember seeing the "Mr. Shifter" advert, on my family's very first trip to England (1977). We stayed at what's now the luxurious Taj Hotel on Buckingham Gate. Back then, it was the slightly shopworn St. James Palace Hotel. On that visit, we saw the Queen pass by, in the Royal Car, on her way to Westminster. A policeman had brought my brother and me to the front of a crowd lining the road, and the Queen's car was about 1 metre away from us. She was deessed in peach, and smiled and waved right at us. I was disappointed she wasn't wearing a crown.
My two favourite ones of all time are the piano moving one and the channel tunnel, whenever I here people mention the tunnel in conversation the first thing I think of is "this ain't blinking Calais, this is blinking Catford" " 'ere, watch your blinking French" 😆😆😆
There's a documentary uploaded to TH-cam about it I've been meaning to watch. Funnily enough, that's also called Monkey Business. Might be worth looking up.
Slattery at the time was the embodiment of over saturation, as it felt like he was almost on every show on every Chanel at the same time. It got to the stage where I felt that when visiting the loo, he would be sitting there just waiting to say something. Truly a great shame what happened to him, as I did not actually mind him back then.
😂 Such brilliant memories ❤

A little time capsule, that.

Some proper special memories right there. 🤗
So many great ads and memorable voices. Seems like most of the Carry On cast lent their voices.
It was interesting actually, reading all the voice acting credits at the end. Confimred a few I wasn't sure about.
Watching now
These old chimp adverts was bloody brilliant 😂😂 classic

Other than the piano one, the phrase that's stayed with me for years is "Ave-vous un-cuppa!?" 😆
@RetroSteveUK yeah, the piano one is one of the oldest jokes in the book, whenever someone asks "do you know ....?" 😆 It's still funny though 🤣
Brand Identification is very important. you can't think PG without chimps coming to mind.
Absolutely brilliant mate, thanks for posting 👍👍👍
No problem 👍
It will be funny if you speed up the video to 2x! I promise you!😅
Lovely collection of 'PG Tips' adverts.
Correct me if I am wrong, I think that the chimps used were from Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire.
There's a documentary uploaded to TH-cam about it I've been meaning to watch. Funnily enough, that's also called Monkey Business. Might be worth looking up.
The PG Tips chimps used to give me nightmares!
Surely this production was the height of Tony Slattery's career? 😉
You're probably right. 🤣
I remember Tony from Whose Line Is It Anyway, mostly.
