    Dixcel Toilet Tissue: Milage Test (1979/80) - v/o by William Franklyn - directed by Bryan Byfield.
    The Happies Shoes ad was apparently 1974 - I'm sure she did more than one commercial for this product.
    Stork Margarine: Supermum (1977).
    Sekonda Watches: Copacabana Beach (1976/7) directed by Bob Bierman.
    Anchor New Zealand Butter - one of the 'Seaside' ads from 1980. A year later they did a similar one called 'Zoo'.
    Bill Oddie voicing the cat in the Thomson ads.
    Lurpak Butter: Scuba Diver (1986/7) directed by Peter Lord and David Sproxton. Music by Peter Skellern.
    Kimberly-Clark Kimwipes (1985/6) directed by Jerry Hibbert. V/o sounds like Anton Rodgers.
    Fiesta Kitchen Paper: Origami (1986/7) directed by Mike Cozens. v/o by Herbert (Bert) Kwouk.
    Dulux: Colour Options (1989/90) directed by Maxine Tabak.
    Philadelphia Light: Ladies Club directed by Alan Orpin (1989/90). Blonde actress is Sara Crowe.

      Gareth, I've started working back through my videos and pinning your comments with the useful information. Been meaning to do this for a little while now. There are a lot of videos to go through, but I'll do them a handful at a time so they'll all get done eventually and any you do in future will be pinned. Don't take this as a pressure to provide that info in the future, just do it if you still feel like doing it. I'll pin any info lists you do on future videos. Thanks for the research. 👍

    • @garethbramley1
      @garethbramley1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good idea! I've only really been checking one (sometimes 2) source as it takes much longer, as you know, to check others. When I researched the clips on 'Obsolete Archive' I used 4/5 sources but sometimes some were unavailable. Also, as you will see if you look on the channel, they are single clips so took less time. I have a lot of info on 60s / 70s / 80s ads that interested me but it's scattered about and I can't possibly remember it. If you do a Pepsi compilation I will find my info and comment with full details. I will say that anything outside the 80s is really outside my remit and I only bother to comment if it's a special ad or of interest. And there are a few gems, especially those by Ridley Scott (RSA Films) and a few others. As for modern ads (say 2000 onwards) - I'm afraid I don't bother to look unless one hits me in the face because it has a certain actor or actress. Jingles seemed to end after the 80s - to be replaced by pop songs (just like cinema films) so they became less interesting.😀

      Right, that's interesting. I wondered how you were able to grab the info. Any you can / want to do .. it's all good. Don't feel duty bound though. As for the eras, my hard and fast rule is if it's pre-widescreen it can be included, (although I am a LITTLE selective even if that criterion is followed.)

    • @garethbramley1
      @garethbramley1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found that a lot of the 'titles' were listed on one particular site but I've not looked for months and months now as it was often down and a lot of the 80s ones were not there. They do not list voiceovers (apart from the odd one) so it's a case of relying on one's listening skills. I recognise a lot more voiceovers but can't put names to them.

      The Findus brand was killed by the 2016 horsemeat scandal, in which many ready meals by various companies were discovered to contain undeclared horsemeat in addition to (or instead of) the beef stated on the label.
      Analysis found that Findus Beef Lasagne contained only horsemeat, no beef at all. This, and other Findus meals containing undeclared horsemeat, was so scandalous that the owner of the Findus brand decided the brand was too damaged to continue.

    Growing up I found many of the PIFs pretty scary. The Government didn't always create new ones either. I remember some that were shown in the mid 80's that were definitely made in 70's! Many had a distinctive sound, as they would generally play the video first, with the sound kicking in a second or two later! The most memorable for me were the PIFs about Rabies, and the Aids 'Don't die of ignorance' PIF.

    Do you have or would be to get hold of these adverts?:
    Clover spread, woman having bad morning (UNEDITED)
    Walkers French Fries Stick People at Football Match
    Baked Beans with (live action) Dennis the Menace
    Bernard Matthews (I think) Turkey Dinosaurs, featuring class on school trip

      I can't get hold of anything in particular, it's just whatever turns up, but if you're after a particular advert, all my compilations are chapter marked with product names. On my channel page (computer only - not mobile devices) there's a small search bar that will search my channel only, and it searches through the chapter markers. That might turn up stuff you're looking for if it's already on a compilation.

    Crispy pancakes filled with slime. Mmmm.. (disappointed not to see the Del Monte (?) tinned vegetable one where the actor says " just look at those delicious crunchy vegetables.." while pouring goopy sludge from a tin. Classic 70's doublethink..

      Little and Large, comedy duo. Not the best comedy double act at the time, but they were well loved for a while.

    Did the Government really commission adverts sternly warning people "Don't run round corners"? 🥴

    I know American pancakes are very different from European ones, but how could they call that one thing a pancake? It's not a crepe either. It looks like a variation of a store-bought cordon bleu with different fillings or a large dumpling.

      We have normal pancakes too but these are,… something else. I have saw recipes for savoury pancakes though.

    That happy shoes ad was a tad creepy at the end with the rapid switch between her smiling face and the text. 😮

    A lot of these adverts are engrained in my mind but they are still a load of old tosh. Some things are much better today, like technology so we don't have to endure this drivel any more.

    Man, what differences in tone between the road safety adverts! A friendly little robot in an advert gently giving advice to children, and the other with a voiceover whose tone suggests the world is probably ending and your doom is upon you. I know which I responded to better as a child.

    Could that Stork SB advert be any more cringingly patronising? Could Bruce Forsythe be any more cringingly patronising?
