It's awesome. Always looking for good Cayman content as I sit in my snow covered garage waiting for the spring. It really is true that you can't understand how good these cars are until you actually drive one.
Amazing, I want one! Would it be rude how much you paid? What state? Private party transactions? I just went to a car event and the Porsche were my favorite. (Video on my channel)
Congrats. I bought a 2006 silver Cayman S at 92k miles for 12K and it was the best 12K I ever spent. Local places now contact me to sell. Never. Something about the way this car makes you feel. Just a blast to drive and the cornering makes you think you're a better driver than you are. Some kid pulled up to me and thought it was some new variation (sexiest car he ever saw). Makes me realize 2006 is not so recent anymore but the 987s are now a classic and never gives him any gruff.
Have a 2007 Cayman S and I absolutely love driving it. Manual gearbox is great on this vehicle. The shove and engine sound inside the cabin from 4000 to 7000 rpm is glorious!
Rifle bolt manual transmission and telepathic steering. The 987 generation Porsche Cayman is truly one of those moment in time cars. There is no substitute.
I need this car so bad in my life but innee to save for a while. I currently drive a manual 1998 fwd 200sx and I still have a blast in it. I can't even image what its like driving this car a decent speed around some bends.
Great car and it looks like a 3 year old car. I have cayman 987 2008 model year and owned for past 2 years and no regrets I had the steering wheel and gear knob re trimmed in alcantara and best decision I made on modifying this car
Wow its like watching a kid with a new toy life is to short keep injoying yourself i don't know you but it was fun watching you get i kick out of your car which i my say porsches are awesome.
Thank you! I couldn't tell the difference in driving experience between my 06 Cayman S and my friend's 15 GT4, except for horsepower. I'd personally spend less money and throw it into the turns and enjoy the hell out of it.
Get a 987.2 manual S with the 3.4L engine. Considered by many to be the last great Porsche. After this gen they went to electric steering. I have a 2012 S manual with virtually every option available. Porsche sold less than 450 2012 Caymans in the USA and very few were an S. I bought it in 2015 with 9,000 miles for $57,000, which is roughly what I could sell it for now! Amazing car! Pulls 1.0 G on the skid pad and has essentially zero body lean. Had 911's before and would never go back!
Excellent choice. I have also been leaning towards a cayman lately, although it would be hard to replace the i8 as my DD. Look forward to seeing your customizations! Cheers!
Nice Cayman S you have, enjoy. Do your white gauges turn matte silver when turning the lights on at night? I ask, as I have a 2nd gen Cayman S and they change as I mentioned.
My friend treated himself to a lovely low mileage Cayman S recently, it's in amazing condition and performs really well, or so he thought until I took him for a ride in my Alfa Romeo 4C Spider.😥 I told him I'd post this comment just to wind him up. 😅
Incredible car, and a timeless, analog classic! The prices on these are going up quite a bit in the past month,. With the 911 market getting out of control price wise. Caymans are naturally next in line to follow suit. I just acquired a 2008 Cayman S. How do you like the Fabspeed exhaust? I am currently looking for an exhaust system, looking at Soul Performance, and Fabspeed.
I love the sound of the Fabspeed and others who hear me on the road love it as well. I have no idea what it compares to as I haven't heard any other aftermarket exhaust on a Cayman. Mine was installed by the previous owner so I can't do a before/after sound recording on it, either.
Great video! I’m looking at picking one up myself and this was pretty informative. Sorry you have to drive it in Maryland though, haha. I lived in Odenton for 4 years when the army sent me to Meade and I couldn’t stand the traffic. Keep it up! Subbed

At highway speeds, it was showing about 3mph faster than a GPS. Not really enough to worry about and I didn't try to find a way to correct this before I sold it.
Nice i think that 60k miles is a sweet spot on price congrats , sweet car i like your exhaust to as i got older i dont like a real loud exhaust but still want to hear it under high rev thats perfect . Like the screen too nice makes it more modern too wow man awesome , man i cant wait to buy one and take it to the parkway i like the color kind of low key but i do think a lime green or orange with porsche decal on rocker could definatley contribute extra value but alot of value being low key too so theres that lol
Very different cars from my experience. Cayman and the Cayman S especially are leaps and bounds ahead of the others. The Toyota/Subie models are fun little cars if you want a nimble and enjoyable driving experience. You really need to drive both, because while the BRZ and FRS are fun to drive, once you drive the Cayman or Cayman S….. The other cars feel like kids toys. The Porsche truly needs to be experienced to understand how connected it feels. It can also handle pretty much any speed with uncompromising confidence and ease.
Hi Pat ! Awsome video about an awsome car ! I coudn't agree more with you since I own a speed yellow 6 speed manual 2007 Cayman S that I bought back in july 2013 with 20000 miles and still own it today at 60000 miles (I live in the province of Quebec so I don't drive it in the winter ! ) You refer to smaller wheel / tire diameter in your video. What are the wheels ( model, diam+width front /back) and tire size front/back on your car ? My car currently runs stock 19 in. Porsche design wheels with stock tire size ( wraped with Michelins Pilot super sport 4S). I am thinking about downsizing to 18 in. with lighter wheels to improve performance & comfort ( our roads are a tad rough around here...). Looking forward to your next content on the Cayman !
They are actually very reliable if taken care of properly... I'm a Cayman owner myself and the car is actually really reliable and drives absolutely stunningly!
I am also a Cayman owner and these cars are so well engineered. It might seem like a mid engine car would be hard to work on, but it's really not. They do have a tendency to be sensitive in some areas. (don't over fill the oil, random 02 sensor error twice a year, etc.) But I agree with Jan, they are very reliable from what I've experienced.
Great video ! I’m on my 2nd 06 cayman S 987.1 I’m going to get another haha… they’re truly the best car built, next to the 16 GT4 981 gen… now the exhaust you have on your car the Fabspeed. How do you feel about it for daily driving. Is it too much or how do you feel?
Awesome! I love the Fabspeed. It doesn't sound too loud in the cabin and everyone that comments to me told me they like it. On a long trip, it can be slightly annoying (even louder than my NSX which has valves to route the exhaust thru no muffler). But, definitely a great sound.
@@PatsGarageOnline that would be my only concern for me doing long drive north country and such. I’m curious if I should do it or not.. I just worry that it will make the interior rattle or creak but maybe not ? Oh well haha love the content.. I’m a new subscriber love your vids binged a few !!

I own a 987 Cayman S myself and know exactly why you love this machine 8^D One piece of advice: Try working on your steering technic and the placement of your hands on the wheel. Think about why those thumb rests are placed where they are. I promise it will even imporove your steering joy ;) cheers!
thanks for the overview video which was interesting since I'm considering buying a 2006 S. in passing though your steering technique is cringeworthy. please don't take your hands off the wheel to reposition every time you go into a turn. you have no ability to react to any situation when you turn that way.
It's a great car. Sometimes I like to just grab and turn but I know it's not good technique. Sometimes I like to steer with my knee while I open my energy drink but I don't record that for TH-cam. 😁
RIP Porsche Cayman / Boxter... Last chance to buy one with a real engine was months ago, they stopped the sales and production of new cars to go all electric only in 2025. Porsche has gone idiocrasy woke now.

What do you think of this 15 year old Porsche Cayman S?
So great, cant believe its that old! Rented a 2013 base Boxster PDK last summer and drove from DC to WVa and it was MAGIC in the mountains
