I'd love to build my own engine. I don't know if I'd be successful though? Measuring seems a bit confusing to me. It would be a bummer to see it fail from a stupid mistake I might make.

To see it fail due to small error would be awful. Not to mention the potential $$$ you could be out as well. Building your own would be a fun experience though as it is a great project for an enthusiast.
Building/restoring an older Subaru is something I've always wanted to do as well. Too many hobbies not enough time lol.

With my abilities, I’d feel a lot better getting a prebuilt engine with a warranty and installed by a professional. It is a lot of money, though. However, the cool thing about the Subie community is the DIY spirit. I feel I’ve learned so much about cars by owning my STi and working on it. I’ve only done suspension stuff but maybe in a few years, I’ll be able to do an engine if I keep learning and make a few friends.

The subaru community is indeed very helpful and the DIY spirit is alive and well. Hopefully, if you ever venture down the path of doing your own build I hope it all turns out well for you.

Where did you get the silver overlay from?

The emblems were hand painted from a guy on IG a few years back. Don't think he does it anymore though his name on there was Redtreeprojects. The colors are Ice Silver Metallic with Gloss Black Stars.
