    Thank you for this informative (and disgusting) video. I HATE THESE GUYS ! (as much as white flies) Honestly , I was just introduced to them in my garden. They nearly destroyed a beloved and rare cactus. I am still trying to resurrect it-- it was reduced to pieces of cacti. Now, they seem to be infecting several plants , and I can"t figure out how its spreading ! ( I check every plant & quickly treat/isolate) For example, a house plant (grape ivy) has always been isolated in my bathroom (hanging from ceiling hook). never around other plants ! But it has a severe infection. I thought it was just a lack of water because I frequently forgot to water it. Do mealybugs live in potting soil ? If so--- I will be extra careful when purchasing new soil. Organic ? It must have been infected long ago (years), but didn't show signs until now (neglect by me) Please tell me where these guys come from and best way to kill them. I have been using rubbing alcohol spray thanks !!!!!!

      Mealybugs are most of the time introduced to your plants by the most evil bug of all the infamous ant, watch closely whenever you see mealybugs you ll see ants! The less ants you ll have in your garden the better will your plants be.

    • @freedomisdead9638

      No way mealybugs would come from a manufactured potting soil bag, the lifecycle of mealy bug is short, eggs wouldn t stay in stand by mode!

    Actually they have Another Insect Allies too, and it is ant..
    Don't Think ants is enemy to mealy bugs, cuz mealy bug can produce honeydew for the ants, so the ants use them for honey farming..
    Basically they are ants property, so if disturbed by another bugs, the ant won't just sit there and watch.. :v

    These tiny pests are extremely hard 2 eradicate. They can ruin ornaments in little or no time and can migrate to plants close by. If u smash them they have a bitter smell. Wash hands after touching infected plants. Spider mites and white flies also difficult to controll

    • @mozarth
      @mozarth 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eradicate every single ant you can find first. Then use dishwasher solution or simple soap solution to wash off the trees/plants once a day first then once a week for maintenance. Don't burn your plants with soap solution, test the strength in a single leaf first.

    The main question is unanswered--how does a plant get infested? The males have wings, but the females don't. So how does a houseplant get infested? And Google is full of "the plant you bought was probably already infested."

    • @Korina42
      @Korina42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The young are quite mobile and can crawl to another plant; if your watering can touches an infested plant it can transport them to another plant, and another, and another... Ask me how I know. ::shudders:: Quarantine *EVERYTHING*, preferably in another room, with separate watering cans, and wash your hands when going to and from the two places.

  • @CharlesCammock
    @CharlesCammock ปีที่แล้ว

    I felt so betrayed by ants when i realized they were working together with the mealy bugs... I thought we had like a contract or something. Other than that I've been catchin g lady bugs and putting them to work which seems to take care of it MILDLY but they mostly fly off and get caught in webs which is so embarassing... like insects... they are wild. but I realized... bitch... why can't I just be the ladybug? So i started licking my plants and manually taking care of the mealybug "cities" with infestations myself by eating them and they actually taste delicious ....must be that honey dew.
