Please edit out the address and political affiliation of URI I have no idea why you would ask that on something that’s supposed to do TH-cam how outrageous! Uri Winterstein this wonderful survivor. I do not know why in the world you would ask his address and these days and times please edit it out.
Asking his address and putting it out for all to know is a little unnerving 😬 A lot of interruptions from the interviewer. I would love another interview from this survivor with a different interviewer so that his story may be heard without interruption.
The foundation is so important to me personally. When you miss your family it is soothing to hear stories by survivors who show me so much hope. Sometimes it is hard to cling to it.
This is my first interview for the Shoah Foundation listening a survivor speaking nowadays and not during the 90s. All the witnesses are so kind and their stories are so touching that I try to do my best in my life to spread their message. But after 10/07 I always think about what happened and I think is very hard for them that devoted their time to education towards the new generations to watch about protests in Universities against Jewish People and communities. I would like to say that their efforts are not vain. That education is still the best medicine against antisemitism. Thanks a lot Mr Winterstein for what you do. I hope you can understand correctly my words because I’m not a mother tongue and it’s not easy to talk about feelings. ❤
I very much enjoyed listening to Mr Winterstein, such a charming sweet man. I agree with many of the others who have commented, how is the interviewer allow you to conduct the interview in such a rude abrupt manner, it should not be allowed.
The interviewer was so terrible. She sounded as if she’s never researched or heard of the Holocaust. An interviewer should be pretty well versed in the subject. The interrupting was terrible. He didn’t need questions he was fully going to tell his story. Please don’t let her interview a survivor again.
This was highly inappropriate. The interviewer talked over the survivor. She asked information that had nothing to do with the content. She had no business asking his address or political opinion. She was very ignorant about Thersienstadt!
Uri would benefit by finding others who's parents gave them up during the Holocaust to gentile families to save them and later picked them up after the war. I remember reading about children who were raised by gentile families and when their real families came to pick them up, they didn't want to go with their real parents, thinking their adoptive parents were the only parents they ever remembered. Deep down they have a memory of their real parents and leaving them as an infant must have been traumatic. Uri left his real family at 2 months but those two months his family was everything to him. Then he went to a stranger and he became attached and then he went to another stranger and competed with another baby. Then he went to his aunt, who was another stranger. And then back to his real family. That has to have had a profound effect in his early life, that he just tucked away. I don't know if he's into regression, but he could be regressed back to himself as an infant and follow his feelings and questions with all of the people who took care of him, so his child self could understand why he had to experience what he did. His wife is a psychologist and I'm sure she's familiar with that kind of regression. And meeting other's that experienced similar childhoods would also help.
horrible interviewer!!! she cuts him off all the time! doesn’t let him finish his sentences or thoughts! she enforces her own agenda. What the hell is this?!
Please, lady, be quiet and let the gentleman tell his story. Quit interrupting, and ask for spelling. I'm halfway through the interview, and I still have no clue what he's talking about, since you keep interrupting, and nit-picking! His story deserves better. He deserves better.
Disclaimer: I’m not Jewish I have no direct connection to the Holocaust, I’m just passionate about history and the need for these stories to be told so they are not forgotten and hopefully history doesn’t repeat itself. I was put off by the interviewer’s interruptions, the spelling and almost census-like requests for information. I can let that go for the reasons I will discuss below. The request for his current address and political affiliation actually being recorded and posted is the only part that actually scared me for URI safety. That being said, let’s maybe give some grace, assume the interviewer had positive intentions. -The census-like questions make sense to me because in a time where this information documents “proof”, if you will, may be lost, they need to ask these questions to fill in the blanks and provide a “record”. Almost like if you’re forming a family tree, at least that’s how I interpret it. -Regarding the interviewer frequently interrupting URI, there’s a lot that we as the audience just don’t know and are left to speculate…maybe this was their first interview and the interviewer was nervous? Maybe the interviewer was so enthusiastic to learn more about URI and his family story that they couldn’t help but interrupt with another follow up question? I offer this because I personally have Attention Deficit Disorder along with Social Anxiety, and that happens to me when I meet someone new: I get excited to learn more about the person to the point I smack my mouth shut to stop myself as I’m interrupting and apologize and advise I didn’t mean to interrupt and to please continue. Additionally, I have a lot of difficulty picking up on social queues in conversation….. -I’m not saying the interviewer has my deficits, I’m just saying that maybe they had positive intent and just messed up, that’s all. -I just feel there’s a difference between being mean and offering constructive criticism. Thank you for what you do, Long distance hugs and have a beautiful day!
Please do not let this lady interview another survivor again!!! The interrupting is OUT OF THIS WORLD!
I agree. This man is so nice and very interesting. Let him tell his story.
I loathe to comment on the interviewer but this one. Next level. Ask a decent question lady.

Interviewer should learn not to interrupt while the survivor speaks.

A most interesting testimony. Thank you so much for sharing your story, Sir. A New Zealand viewer.
The spelling part is annoying. The interview sounds more like an interrogation. Let the witness tell his story
The spelling part is needed for documental purposes. So any potential researcher can get such an important info. a 100% right. Cheers.
I very much enjoyed listening to
Mr Winterstein, such a charming sweet man.

Why on earth did he give out his fall address. I can't stand these people that interview these lovely survivor's.
It's hard enough to live over again such a horrible time in his life? Let the man speak.
I think she did not pay attention he already said he didn't remember many thinks and she continued asking the same questions.
The interviewer was very rude very blunt with uri She kept interrupting him uri was very interested

interviewer..rough.. tough..
Absolutely true.
I can't watch this one. Such a nice guy but the woman sounds like an angry cop in an interrogation room.
Don't like the interviewing lady
Not at all. Wrong person for such a difficult tema, she sounds very cold.

Is enjoying her asking how to spell name, she interrupts his story.
She has no manners
This interviewer was so annoying, please find a good one. Very rude.
horrible interviewer!!! she cuts him off all the time! doesn’t let him finish his sentences or thoughts! she enforces her own agenda. What the hell is this?!
I think having to broadcast your address is a bit much . I really appreciate hearing the stories good and bad . Thankyou for your life story
Please, lady, be quiet and let the gentleman tell his story. Quit interrupting, and ask for spelling. I'm halfway through the interview, and I still have no clue what he's talking about, since you keep interrupting, and nit-picking!
His story deserves better. He deserves better.
