Idk I think the movie made him look like an idiot. A big horny idiot. Sleeping with his student, signing off on increasing his wife’s life insurance, and basically he was a gold digger near the end going through Amy’s trust. Plus how could he be so oblivious to how his wife would react if he wasn’t an idiot.
Am I the only one who thinks Gone Girl is scarier than any horror film made this past decade? Seriously, the way it ends and the music of the credits just freaked me the fuck out. I mean oh my god, Amy just scared the shit out of me, the more I imagined being in Nick's situation, the more chills I got. Think about it, if Nick left Amy, society would demonize Nick. Some would try telling people the true story of what happened, you see Nick talking to himself in the bathroom and think he is gonna do that. But what's stopping Amy for making her own spin of the story? Who are they gonna believe Nick or Amy? The more I think about it, the more I realize society as a whole don't want to know the whole story. They would rather see the exterior and pretend they know who a person really is. When in reality, we're all liar's, not to the same extent as Amy, but liars none the less. We all play different characters depending on who are friends and family are, rather than being who we are as individuals. We do this so much that we start wondering to ourselves "Who am I?" and forget who we truly are.
@J yea thats what the guy already said…. but in case we need clarification, this is really scary because in real life this can actually happen sometimes!
I've not watched the movie yet but as a young woman, the book terrifies me. I've never had a relationship except some casual low commitment situation with a guy for two months and I could still see Nick in that harmless, boyish barely 21 year old. I don't think I'm getting into a relationship with a man anytime soon.
Gone Girl is a pretty accurate description of what vindictive women are not only capable of, but what measures they will take when they're fed up with you. I've dealt with a situation similar to Amy's ex.
PSA: If you haven't seen this movie yet, don't recap it. Enjoy it for a first watch, the plot is insane. The book is absolutely fantastic as well. I haven't been glued to a book as much as i was when i read it even knowing what happens, in a long time.
I've never seen this movie and was going to watch it then when it got more towards the end... I'm not going to. I can tell it's a great movie. The story is good. I've been through similar situations. I've seen others as well. And this could happen in this society if it hasn't already. There is no probably about it. I'm over being triggered. Again... looks really good, but Naaahhh I'm good.
Nick is not some innocent little puppy dog who made a small mistake. He intentionally used someone for their money and emotionally manipulated them and took them away from their family, never caring about her emotions or thoughts. He destroyed her confidence and emotions and literally betrayed their entire relationship. Why are we acting like there’s only one narcissist in this situation? Amy makes Nick look like a saint in comparison with her antics and murderous tendencies, but let’s not pretend that Nick was a good person. He showed his truly evil potential in the movie and how manipulative he truly is. What the movie showed was not a victim, but a true pairing of narcissists who were in competition for the last laugh. They’re both users and they’re both awful. More than likely, he’s planning something big to ruin her image like she did to him.
I loved this movie and the book too it’s honestly one of the rare instances where I can’t pick whether I like the book or movie more because both were so good
@@itsnayifay The ending is supposed to be confusing. In short, bad marriage, wife wants her husband to be executed for her murder, so she stages her murder. Halfway she changes her mind and stages a kidnapping instead. She kills her "kidnapper", goes home and tricks her husband into staying married.
Best comment I saw about this movie is that Amy is a villain in a story with no heroes. And after just completing watching it, I can honestly say that while Amy has done the most wrongdoings... there is something very dark about Nick. Same thing with the ex Amy murdered. The way Nick looks at May in the interview... that convinced me that the two deserve each other. Not because both of them are of the same evil, but because both of them understand one another too well. I can imagine a future where they do their part to keep up appearances, but secretly they are crafting just how they can win over the other.
Amy is a literal murderer. Nick is a lazy selfish asshole that got in over his head. Of course you can sympathise with both characters but at the end of the day Amy was always unhinged. If Nick had killed her or pulled off an elaborate ploy like she did he would deserve zero sympathy. He should have just divorced her as he intended.

Why do they keep playing her game? Find and burn them. Let her wait forever to be found. The period the movie is set in would have strangers to easily identify a missing person. She didn't he chop off her hair. Amy was the evil partner in all her relationships.
No. She used her husband's sperm. They originally planned to have a IVF baby, so he deposited his seed in a facility. She then changed her mind and didn't want the baby. Only she lied and secretly stashed his sperm, just in case she changed her mind again. She played a very sophisticated long game.
@@sinogarcon i watched the movie on netflix he said: “I didn’t even touch u” after she told him she was pregnant. So it was her ex’s baby. He was the last guy she slept with before she returned to her husband.
