OK, I tell a counselor what I did in the US Military, (USMC/USA) and they say; Paramedic/Firefighter/Police Officer. NOPE, I have seen enough anguish & disparity for a lifetime!

The first thing to do when I got out was get a government job that will never experience any shutdown, especially after 9-11. Got a 9-5 that in 5 years I got 30 days paid vacation. Active-duty time counted as time in service which meant raises in pay came faster and higher. Great! Worked up to a good 6-figure income for 11 months work a year. No stress either. The added plus was that the job was Union-repped. . Took ten-week vacations every other year. Fly free anywhere there was a US military base in the world. Whoopie!!
