One of my favorite videos was when you talked about how you irrigate your land and how it works in keeping water "local" returning to the aquifer from where it came. Not only are we Americans wanting things cheap and plentiful, but we also like our news very superficial and do not bother to take the time to dig deeper.

  • @steveadams4009
    @steveadams4009 ปีที่แล้ว

    Trevor, when you want to talk about oil I can help you with that. I own 700 acres in Oklahoma and have 320 on one side of the road and 380 on the other, so my farm is in two separate sections. I have two wells on my property, the wells are totally on my property however the oil and gas that is pumped out of them is divided amongst everyone who owns property in that section in other words our portion of the oil or gas check is divided among everybody else who owns property in those two sections. Your portion of the check will depend on how much property you own. And when they first drilled wells back 20 years ago my portion of the check was about $3500 per well each month they pumped it down now so that my check is worth about the same as a good nurse cow. The other is one advantage I have which some people who have gas wells on the property do but many do not I get the tap in their natural gas line for free sort of. Now I have to put the dryer in the filters and right now it's not necessary but it may become necessary that I have to put the pumps onto that gas line but that's what heats my barn my shop my house everything on the farm.

      So, this is a touchy subject to me. I personally would love to oven property in other countries. I would love to farm in Africa.
      So should I not be allowed to purchase property in other countries?
      Is it ok for US companies to abandon the US work force to use cheap labor in China, but then bring the product being made back to the US to sell it and profit off us?
      Is it ok for US companies to buy beef and produce cheaper from countries that don’t have the same standards?
      I get what you are saying, unfortunately it’s not that cut and dry. We either take advantage of other countries and they take advantage of us, or we don’t and they don’t.
      I don’t know. It’s a world market, and world economy. As long as they are following our laws and adding to our GDP. They can’t physically take the property. They couldn’t build military basses on it, like we do in other countries…. It is something to think very deeply on.

    • @Whitaker_Farms
      @Whitaker_Farms ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BalesHayFarmandRanch You are correct. It is a very touchy subject and you do make some good points. I would love to have the US take care of itself. We were the best country years ago when we did not get everything imported and the quality was much better. As far as cattle go, I don’t think we should be importing beef. The country of origin labeling rules should be different. If it wasn’t born, raised, and slaughtered here it should not be labeled as product of USA.

    Just an FYI about semiconductor manufacturing and water...
    Water isn't used for evaporative cooling. It's used for cleaning the silicon wafers after each process stage.
    Unfortunately, this can consume over 4 million gallons a day. The water is filtered until it is ultra pure and in that process some water gets wasted. More water is wasted (and perhaps evaporated depending on the process they use) by cleaning up the toxic post-process waste water. Modern plants these days are only able to recycle 40% ~ 50% of the water they use.
    Locating such a plant near an ocean (as you suggested) is much more expensive. Any minute trace of salt air must be scrubbed from the environment where semiconductors are processed. Even a tiny number of sodium ions can destroy a semiconductor. The equipment and energy costs to keep the environment sterile is enormous.
    That said, I'd rather the land and water be used for farming. We need farms and farmers. God bless them.

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  ปีที่แล้ว

      I sat in a board meeting and some special someone and city officials told us. “Evaporative water”. Sounds like the just picked the easiest explanation. I figured there had to be more to it.
      The desert is nice though. Zero natural disasters.
      And yes, the water is a lot cheaper to clean. Either side of the isle will have its arguments and they will both sound good.

    Best take-a -way from this video. If a manufacturing business gets the land because we run foreign businesses out of farming, the water they would use to cool their manufacturing process goes up in smoke/steam so to speak and the currents take it far, far away. If any farmer, pumping water from their own property, uses water for irregation, the water goes back into the Earth on the same sopt it came from. The water stays HOME---YEA!

    Well I'm a rancher and grow hay in the east. Water is not our problem but disappearing farmland is. In my state it's about a 100000 acre loss per year. I think at some point this will be an enormous issue. I do think whatever powers that be want the land and the water and want us all off of it. They say this out loud in other countries so it will be tried here too. Like every issue politicians need an emotionally charged thing to gin up the public the water is it. They want the land the water is a way to get it.

    Thanks Trevor! I understand the argument that people make about foreign entities owning property in the US, but it is difficult to make the property rights and freedom arguments to other countries, if we don't allow that ownership here. Private property is the number one contributing factor in the growth and development of the US. Whether its land, water, buildings or resources. I do see both sides but have a real issue with preaching one thing and doing another.
    The Saudi backed farms seem to be generating alot of revenue for that part of Arizona as well as the state as a whole.

    It's funny, the original spark for this Saudi water theft meme centered on alfalfa.
    How does exporting grain produced on the plains of CO, NB, KS, TX, etc under irrigation differ? I produce cotton and wheat under irrigation on the TX Panhandle. Until a potus threatened export tariffs to control the SW border invasion MX was my main customer for wheat. We had a handy little rail line from TX straight into MX that made our trade simple and sweet.
    MX has a nearby corn processing plant and contracts with some of my neighbors for irrigated food corn production. They refine the corn here and ship to MX.
    Egypt was biggest US wide wheat importer. A different potus didn't like Egyptian's choice for prime minister so he threatened to withhold wheat exports from Egypt. Our sales plummeted thus our wheat prices took a big hit that took forever to recover. We need to sell our farm products within 3 to 6 months of harvest. Holding longer costs us storage fees, which gobble up profit. These blundering politicians playing Monopoly on a grand scale think nothing of our losses at their hands.
    We had some friends who moved to AZ and got into the alfalfa harvest biz. Nienast was their name.
    How do you think these cubicle dweller consumers who think nothing of passing laws that would restrict farm income would feel if we clamored for laws prohibiting $$ in their 401-K from being invested with corps doing biz outside the USA? =)

      Yes and no. Losing control of manufacturing and intellectual property is the bigger problem. Foreign entities operating on US ground “has” to follow our rules, and they can’t just take the soil away. They can’t just ship the product out of the US. We have a lot more control over a foreign entity owning US soil, and less control when things are being produced in other countries and once our intellectual property is sold or stolen, it’s gone gone

    Giving up US lands to foreign entities is not a good trend. No different than giving up US manufacturing to foreign countries. I don’t care what country it is. Land is a limited resource and we need to protect it.

    • @BalesHayFarmandRanch
      @BalesHayFarmandRanch  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree to a point. The good thing is, they can’t take it away. Our military could go kick them off. Their are no foreign military basses in the US. That I know of. Is it all bad if they are doing good things? Look, we just let 2 million immigrants into the US. They aren’t a net positive. They will take advantage of the government programs. These guys are spending millions upon millions upon millions of dollars into the US economy and AZ economy. They hire all locals. They buy equipment from local dealerships. And when they leave, they will leave a beautiful farm behind. Unless the politicians take the water. And send it somewhere where there are foreign investors. Like a microchip plant. Then we’re back to foreign ownership of America property….

    People throw fits because alfalfa is being shipped out of the country and almonds are being shipped out of the country but how many fresh fruits and vegetables are being shipped into the US? They don't throw fits about imports, only exports. Sorry, but they can't have it both ways.

      I sort of agree with that. But devils advocate. Could we then use cheap labor in other countries? Phones? Clothing? TVs? House hold goods…. A lot of things are still made in sweat shops. So if other countries can’t take advantage of us, that would mean, we couldn’t take advantage of them. Right?

    • @ajskab99
      @ajskab99 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crandonborth that’s up to the other countries. Our largest pork producer in the US is China owned. I have a problem with that.

      @@BalesHayFarmandRanch I’m not sure how that relates to foreigners owning real estate in the US, but putting restrictions on how other countries process their goods isn’t the job of the US. I try to buy goods made in the US, but with current regulations that’s getting nearly impossible. The US is declining because our rate of producing goods locally is declining.

      If you own the land you control the resources under your property. Just like Trevor stated nobody controls how much water we pump out of the ground on our farms. If we would want to throw a pump in the creek and pump water that would not be allowed. I really think Trevor hit the nail right on the head when he said that Phoenix and the surrounding metroplex want the water and will spread disinformation to get it.
