I understand completely what you’re saying. Ergonomics is very important to me also. No matter how it sounds, if it’s not comfortable to play it’s a no for me. There’s many basses that I would love to play/own but the weight and design is an important factor. Great review, new sub here!
Thanks man, I'm honestly really happy with the response from this video so far. What I was hoping to convey is that it doesn't work for me ergonomically and it's something people should be aware of. So far so good! Pleasure to have you, hope you enjoy the ride - Floof
Ha, I said exactly this, around the lower horn, when I got one and got such abuse on Facebook! I also didn't like the width of the neck, the rolled edges make it feel not wide enough for my preference. Quality control is bad as well, the control cavity was an absolute mess. I sent it back and bought a ray34 which I'm very happy with. Sad the Z3 didn't work for me at that price point though.
that's a real shame to hear. I have played the Z3 a bit in shops, but this is something I would only notice sitting with it for an hour or more. the sound is great, and honestly it plays pretty well, but the sheer thickness of it feels inappropriate
Hey, it didn't work out for you, these things happen. I don't think you'll get any grief for your opinion - it is clear that you wanted to like it and you gave it a fair crack. Also, the financial situation is different across the pond - the Z3 is only like £50 more than a Ray2 because SBMM don't really want to sell things over here.
By 'Over here' do you mean the States, because Sterling seems far cheaper in the States to me. The RAY24 Classic you cat get for 550 in the US, but 730 in Europe.
@@lesterfalcon1350 Apologies for the colloquialism - "the pond" being the Atlantic Ocean. But to clear up any confusion - by "over here", I mean UK/EU. Floof knows I'm a Limey, lol.

I really wish Sire made some minor improvements to the Z3 line like they did with the Z7 in 2025 😢
What did they change on the z7 for 2025?

just so you know - my stingray special is just perfect in every way.

If you really like the sound, maybe put the pickup and electronics in the SUB? its an option
If it were mine, I would. Wasn't mine though :(
