Olly, considering what's going on in the country at the moment a group of kind hearted, hard working, underappreciated people doing what the government can't or won't is something to be celebrated. As for the DB 1690 a lick of paint is definitely on the cards. Not concourse but tidy. Keep up the great work. 97% today no longer on antidepressants after 6 years. Proud.
Like your brickwork Ollie making a good job ,The 1690 will bring back a lot of memories we had a 1390 back in the day Just need a lick of paint you'll love renovating it defintely paint it white its a great project good luck with it Eddie
We had a David Brown on our farm when I was a kid in the 80s, I have no idea what model it was, I loved the animals more than the machinery, but seeing that brought on a flood of nostalgia!
The David Brown needs to be painted. You going to be busy renovating all those tractors . At this rate you will on your just fleet for the Xmas tractor run!! Great sunset.
You are a great ambassador for rural life. Thank you. As I understand it you can't mix red/white fuel. A tractor for events i.e ploughing matches can only run on white, the tank, fuel lines have to be clear of the dye. Think the DB needs painting. Quiz, is the light for the Bateman. Take care Olly. Love the sky photos. 80% today. Be glad to get the office off my back next week.
early 1690t id say dont see many with the black mudguard extensions , get it repainted - the paint will mellow after a few years n look factory fresh - once rot sets in , needs taking out - did the same with my 1594 once u start unbolting stuff especially wings n cab you'll see it'll need sorting- be worth checking under the cab the double skin "step where the levelling box comes up through the cab can get scabby underneath my 1390 4wd cab was slightly less rusty n underside was paper thin- water gets in the cavity n cant get out - tidy tractor ! get it back on a plough !
HI Olly paint all the white and black on the cab and leave the rest even the bonnet stickers look good nice tractor ps thanks for taking the time to do videos much appreciated by all
We used to have the same tractor on our farm and it was a beauty. And yes I agree with you about the paint job on them because ours looked excatly the same as that one with the rusty bonnet and side panels
Like I said before that 1690 brought back some great memories used to drive a 1490 & 1394 in my old job. Still got the 1490 on the yard scraper now as the ramp is so steep into the pit you needed 4WD to get up there in dry weather. 😀 get a pic next time I'm there great blogs, those sun rises have been awesome 👍
Hi, nice one with the DB 1690, finally got a tractor I'm properly jealous of!! Having grown up with Brown's and still owing a selection of classic DB's, all in original condition, I do think that you probably do need to paint the 1690, just don't tart it!!
Another brilliant blog Olly - The 1690 is superb, nothing wrong with preserving the white panels it will not spoil the tractor at all, but I understand the argument about keeping the originality. Perhaps another option would be to “treat / repair” all the rust to stop it getting any worse then paint complete tractor with a product called Owatrol oil paint conditioner and rust inhibitor. I have seen vintage tractors finished with this and they do look very good. Beautiful red sky on your video!
That David Brown is a world apart from the 990s we had back in the 1970s we were still running them in 2000! Great workhorses easy to maintain too definitely paint it she will look great 👍
Db bonnet and wings re spray original white ,lovely tractor. Mf 1200 filter maybe broken up and clogged ,check multi power by driving up a ramp or bank in high mp dip clutch and see if it rolls back if it does pump pressure is very low.85% 👨🔧🛠👍
definately paint, looks great though, so modern looking when they came out, replacing the 1412,1210, 996 etc , remember having the poster on my bedroom wall
Definitely paint the 1694. I have a B reg 1594 which we have had from new and still does all the spraying, I stuck a turbo on it 20 years ago so very similar to your new one. I can thoroughly recommend Barclay Williams who are based near Evesham for any spares you need very knowledgeable and reasonable in price.
Definitely paint it. As a DB man, in my experience the tin work will eventually rust through if left. Given the advances in paint it will be better than when it left the factory
That's a tidy looking 1690 I do like the sound of those 6 cylinder David Brown's. I think paint it to protect it. Its a big tractor on my farm my 2wd 1690 does all the heavy land work like ploughing.
Love the new edition Olly, give it a lick of paint so it wont look out of place in the barn when you do the MB & 1200 up. If the police arrest you on this years tractor run they will have to arrest the other 99 of us too 😁 Bought a red bobble hat last night but will pick it up to save postage. Cheers Olly 👍
Love the David brown brings back memories from when i used to work for company that sold them many moon's age now. As for diesel thing it's going to be a nightmare especially as we have been told as from April we can't send any of our plant out with red diesel in them which is going to cost the company a fortune but agricultural vehicles can still use it.
The barn is looking fantastic Olly. The 1690 looks great but I would say defo paint it. Feeling about 60% today as am sick of pigeons attacking our osr.
I once did a 70 mile tractor run on a 1690 Top speed was 16mph , set off at 7am back in yard at 7pm only stopping for dinner, engine sounded fantastic but I was glad when it was over..👍
Sounds well I would repair doors paint bonnet, side panels repair mudguards with new metal and paint then leave all the rest well alone Olly but it's your so do what you feel is right 👍
Sold my DB 780 last year - too uncomfortable to use all day in my advancing years. Had it over 30 years and never a major problem - only big job was a new clutch Sold it to a guy up north who's done a great restoration Definitely good idea to give your 1690 a paint job
Definitely paint it otherwise as you said it will only get worse. It can be done so it looks as if you’ve just cared for it rather than do it as if it had just come out of the factory. I’m having one of my old cars painted so it looks as if it’s just been cared for as it’s used regularly and I don’t want it looking as if it’s just come out of the showroom! If you do the DB the same way it will retain its heritage look as if it’s been regularly maintained and cared for and ready for work. I like to see cars, tractors and machines looked after and that includes the rust!! Go for it because it’s an exceptional tractor and should be cared for with whatever that involves including that lovely creamy/white paint with the engine and wheels Red great! I’m very envious of your growing collection of classic tractors. If they were mine the only additional tractor I would add would be a County AWD.
David Brown - definitely paint it. I see it has CASE on the dashboard. I used to drive tractors on a farm where they had a DB 995 and a DB 1200 that had a steering mind all of its own!
1690 takes me back to 1988/89 spent my college middle year out driving various DB and Case models. Excellent advice for tractor run organisers, too many runs arranged without a purpose.
We used to have a 1490 Fwd, looked the same maybe lower horse power I'm guessing. First tractor I drove doing all the rolling etc, brings back memories👍 Paint it.
Paint I have recently got a 996 DB that sat 2 years by the sea. I painted the new steel replacement parts with line marking white paint. Which is a bottom spray nozzle. It pretty much matches the rusty old white. You might want to give a can a try to see how it looks. M
The DB1690 looks a good tractor Olly, regarding the paint job reluctantly I’d paint due to the bonnet.. Good luck with the tractor run diesel issue, always seems to be a hoo har with HMRC even though you all did amazing amount of fund raising for charity 👍
Paint it - I’ve got one in the same condition - just too far gone for the oily rag. Mine has also got a core plug gone at the back of the engine which seems will be a major project to get at. I’ll be watching for inspiration!😂😂😂
Great video , paint the tractor and make it mint again . Barn looking great , not big enough to put tractors in , so what you going to use it for ? I was reading white board in the background , some one want a new hedge cutter lol thanks
1690 lovely to have back on the farm, your getting a right good display of toys now.... next a Aston DB-X as you demo`d 😂😂 be safe from essex 95% its saturday but a bit nippy
Paint it ,get it looking as new as you can Olly..as for the red diesel/white diesel how I read it if its for farming etc red is OK on roads but now if your using a tractor on construction sites and its going on highways it must be white and a lot of firms are now demanding a class 1 license due to weights of vehicles etc..oh I do sometimes work in Holland and all our diesel we buy for our site flts etc is white as they banned it a few year ago apparently
Feeling 100% back at work 💪 1690 sounds well, I think the bonnet needs painting to help preserve it. Just an Idea find some old photos of your Dad with a Cropmaster and you on a 1690 and do some modern recreations. Super video Olly 👍
To be fair your bang on, there is no change to the rules regarding the use of red for agricultural vehicles in the UK. HMRC Excise Notice 75 is the bible on it and I can speak first hand about it after they lightened my pocket of a good lump a few years back in the UK. They where a heavy little brut in there day! That's why they could grip and out pull other makes back in the day. Is the fan belt loose Olly? As the alternator lights on? Another thing tighten the ignition switch asap! Seen one doing the same and over time the terminals on the back got loose and started to heat up then the power wire fell off and stuck to throttle rod earthing it and causing a bit of a 🔥😭
Amazing tractor . Definitely needs a fresh lick of paint to become original looking , and the weight block plaits optional because they don’t look too bad but maybe a lick of paint also . That sky look well cool also . Where do you think the David brown should go on the cool wall ? Also my opinion on red Diesel I don’t think it matters only out for couple of hours making people happy and spreading the vibe . Have a good day 🚜❤️👍🏻
Hi Olly I just wanted to say a great video yesterday and I just watched it now because I forgot about it yesterday and how are you today I am a100% today
Really nice original 1690, makes our 1190 look a bit small! Ours had the bonnet and wings painted but left the red as it was OK. They can look overdone if you're not careful. Can you show the top link retaining bracket as ours is missing and I can't find a picture of one? Many thanks.
Rub a small drop off oil into that rust first for a year it will kill the rust before painting & once u stop the rust with the oil you might then decide not too paint
Made me chuckle that when you did your moany voice about the David Brown being in original condition, you completely lost your accent 😂😂 I had to double take at the screen haha
You’ve got to laugh at the Lucas ignition key, any screwdriver or even the dipstick would start them. Not very theft proof 😎😂😂😂😂😂. Decent tool in its day though 👍
Hi Olly Nice video Good to see the DB 1690 Paint when you get time or just spray with oil & diesel for the time being you seem pleased with it 😊 Thanks again
Olly, considering what's going on in the country at the moment a group of kind hearted, hard working, underappreciated people doing what the government can't or won't is something to be celebrated.

Well done
Congratulations
Awesome tractor, don’t see many in reasonable condition like that! Agree paint it fresh and do a proper job on it definitely worth that!
Yes
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer hi olly anyidea what a 1594 be worth with loader on very good condition hours about 4500 approx please
No you don't imagine how rare they are over here in Australia but it doesn't stop me from wanting one
Get it painted !! A fabulous tractor in it's day & should b shown off in that way.
Nice to she it painted, the first 4wd tractor i sat in at a very young age,1980. The tractor was only a few months old at the time.
Like your brickwork Ollie making a good job ,The 1690 will bring back a lot of memories we had a 1390 back in the day Just need a lick of paint you'll love renovating it defintely paint it white its a great project good luck with it Eddie

Another fab video. Love the tractor. I used to drive one on the farm l worked on. They traded it in for a 956 another god tractor
Yer deffo
The David Brown needs to be painted. You going to be busy renovating all those tractors . At this rate you will on your just fleet for the Xmas tractor run!!
Great sunset.

You are a great ambassador for rural life. Thank you. As I understand it you can't mix red/white fuel. Thanks Olly. Mr postie has just delivered a smashing t shirt for my Grandson Billy. He will be thrilled this weekend.

Evening Olly, I think you should restore the David Brown back to it's former glory as it'll look mint. Have a good night mate 😁👍

That David Brown is a world apart from the 990s we had back in the 1970s we were still running them in 2000! Great workhorses easy to maintain too definitely paint it she will look great 👍
We got rid of our 990 loader in 2001 for first merlo
Great points about the tractor run.👍
Don't think I'm dyslexic, but I'm definitely not wired right. Doesn't bother me, it makes me who I am.
👍🏻

Hi Olly, I vote for the David brown tractor to be painted and restored.
I spent many an hour sitting on the toolbox in the back of a 1290. We got a 1290 & 1490 new on Xplates. 40%grants in those days. 👍🏻 80%
Sold my DB 780 last year - too uncomfortable to use all day in my advancing years.
Had it over 30 years and never a major problem - only big job was a new clutch
Sold it to a guy up north who's done a great restoration
Definitely good idea to give your 1690 a paint job
I remember at college they had some David Browns and always the favourites , definitely repaint it Olly 👍 looking forward to seeing the results .
Think the tractor needs painting Ollie nice to see a good one we sold our x reg in1999
👍🏻
Definitely paint it otherwise as you said it will only get worse. It can be done so it looks as if you’ve just cared for it rather than do it as if it had just come out of the factory. Hi Olly definitely give the DB 1690 a paint job she is in great condition for her age 👍👍
That barn is looking magic.
75% long day and not yet over.
We had 1490 on a y reg 2 wheel drive with loader. Didn't drive it much. Definitely paint. Great stuff 👍
David Brown - definitely paint it. I see it has CASE on the dashboard. I used to drive tractors on a farm where they had a DB 995 and a DB 1200 that had a steering mind all of its own!

Paint job defo ,factory fresh look👍

Paint it. A neighbour had one and we were all shocked at how big it was!
Lol
Definitely paint it. Saw the 4955 up forsale on facebook. I'm 80%

We used to have a 1490 Fwd, looked the same maybe lower horse power I'm guessing. First tractor I drove doing all the rolling etc, brings back memories👍

Interesting one DB1690 a bit paint and might look fine. Keep up the good work
The DB1690 looks a good tractor Olly, regarding the paint job reluctantly I’d paint due to the bonnet..
Good luck with the tractor run diesel issue, always seems to be a hoo har with HMRC even though you all did amazing amount of fund raising for charity 👍
Yeah definitely agree with you Olly it needs to be painted it's too far gone, but it does look a straight tractor, straighter then the 1200 anyway😉👍.
Jeremy Fearn is your man for David Brown parts, a nice lad to talk to.
I'd definitely give it a coat of paint but don't make a shelf queen.
The sound the bring me back
Hi Olly great shots of the sky,I think the David Brown would look better painted.
Me to
I'd paint the David brown freshen it up bring it back to life grate videos Olly
I live on my mates farm.
Guest only.
Great you are doing more informative stuff than Clarkson who only wants to rinse as much out as he can.
Paint it - I’ve got one in the same condition - just too far gone for the oily rag. Mine has also got a core plug gone at the back of the engine which seems will be a major project to get at. I’ll be watching for inspiration!😂😂😂
Definitely paint it that's a proper tractor always wanted one of those we had a 996 many moons ago
👍🏻
Another good video 👍. I think it needs a good fresh paint job 👍

Like the 1490 Olly diesely rag on bonnet will come up well good tractor though like the cab.
It’s rusted
👍🏻
I would be for painting the 1690, will save it in the long term
Yes deffo
Lovely tractor paint it, it'll make a lovely tractor come the end with a lick of paint
Yer should do
We had 1490 hydro shift and 1390 we when to Stanley briggs at garstang for parts.
White for a 1690 red for 1594. I'm restoring a 1594 at the moment and it's so much fun be the third one I've done.
Great video as usual , I think a paint job is in order 😀
👍🏻
Paint it ,get it looking as new as you can Olly..as for the red diesel/white diesel how I read it if its for farming etc red is OK on roads but now if your using a tractor on construction sites and its going on highways it must be white and a lot of firms are now demanding a class 1 license due to weights of vehicles etc..oh I do sometimes work in Holland and all our diesel we buy for our site flts etc is white as they banned it a few year ago apparently
👍🏻
Give the oul girl a drop of paint, a set of front mudguards and wider tyres, mint job. 👌 good straight tractor
Feeling 100% back at work 💪
1690 sounds well, I think the bonnet needs painting to help preserve it.
Just an Idea find some old photos of your Dad with a Cropmaster and you on a 1690 and do some modern recreations.
Super video Olly 👍
Yer lol
Olly scrap yard could be the name of your second channel 😂👍 paint it mate after the 15 other tractors though 🤣
To be fair your bang on, there is no change to the rules regarding the use of red for agricultural vehicles in the UK. HMRC Excise Notice 75 is the bible on it and I can speak first hand about it after they lightened my pocket of a good lump a few years back in the UK. I'd paint the tractor it'll take a lot less looking after.
They where a heavy little brut in there day! That's why they could grip and out pull other makes back in the day. Is the fan belt loose Olly? As the alternator lights on? Another thing tighten the ignition switch asap! Seen one doing the same and over time the terminals on the back got loose and started to heat up then the power wire fell off and stuck to throttle rod earthing it and causing a bit of a 🔥😭
😳
Be nice to see this going again
Paint it!!
Red sky at night, shepherds delight!! Red sky in the morning, hay barn is on fire!! 😂😂
Have a good day 🚜❤️👍🏻
Looks tidy the 1690 nice add to the collection 👌.
👍🏻
The dB looks like it would b a great tractor 4 the heades cutter after u give it a bit of a lick of paint 🎨 😜
Yer
Definitely paint the tractor and I think the marker is off one of the motorhomes !
Olly I think you should paint it because it looks a bit scabby to me now 👍
Good ploughing tractor in the day keep it white it's one of the last proper David Brown's
Yer
Hi Olly I just wanted to say a great video yesterday and I just watched it now because I forgot about it yesterday and how are you today I am a100% today
I think repaint the Case and are the marker lights of a motor home?
Off work to Monday, think I got the last bobble hat earlier in the week off eBay. Keep the videos coming, look forward to the daily ones Felling 💯
Thanks
Really nice original 1690, makes our 1190 look a bit small! Ours had the bonnet and wings painted but left the red as it was OK. They can look overdone if you're not careful. Can you show the top link retaining bracket as ours is missing and I can't find a picture of one? Many thanks.
Ok
If you paint one part you got to paint the lot looks like a tractor paint shed needs building next also get Dad's DB shorted for him
Great video Olly.
Good video I think you should paint the 1690.
👍🏻
Nice to see the db on your farm I had a 1212 new in the late 1979 4 speed auto box, 65% today
Hydro shift
Very nice DB Olly is the lever next to the hi lo a duel power type thing? Know nothing about them and wondering.
Light is off the Bateman I think?
Could you maybe put some kind of lacquer over the white , to keep that aged look, but protect it from the elements?
Olly if you make as good a job on the DB as you did on your black beast go for a paint over you know it makes sense😊😊
🤣🤣🤣
You’ve got to laugh at the Lucas ignition key, any screwdriver or even the dipstick would start them. Not very theft proof 😎😂😂😂😂😂. Decent tool in its day though 👍

Side light is off the campervans also the Ifor Williams horsebox
👍🏻
Hi Olly Nice video Good to see the DB 1690 Paint when you get time or just spray with oil & diesel for the time being you seem pleased with it 😊 Thanks again
