    Ahh you are showing your kindness when you are talking about/explaining phobias. Lovely sculptures, lovely sculptor!

    I remember seeing dried lotus pods at my grandmother's house in the 1970's in a floral arrangement in her living room. I thought they were SO interesting -- almost alien. Your color choices are always so neat. Thank you for sharing your talents.

    These lotuses inspired me to create my own channel! The techniques and designs are intricate and amazing!

    I didn't expect to like this piece, not sure why. But I love the way it evolved - I think it would make an interesting brooch/pin. Lovely work. Thanks for sharing, x

    you make it look so easy. I love how the end result makes me think peacock meets plant. The colors just hypnotized me.

    I love that one tool you're using the bigger tool that you're pressing against the clay go shape the seed holes with...where did you get it?

    Thank you for making this. I love it. You have a great way of teaching. It moves along nicely without all the futzing and messing around with the clay! I love that you talk while you're working. You have a really nice voice with an awesome accent. I'm sad about your dog-o-phobia. One bad dog ruined such a wonderful thing for you.

      ah well, the dog-o-phibia is ok now. I've always been more of a cat person in any case.
      And thank you!

    I'm one of those who are just hugely grossed out by lotus pods instead of merely phobic, but as always, I'm astounded by your skill. Those are some super real-looking (and super gross-looking!) lotus pods. Thanks for sharing them with us :D

    I'm glad you posted this, even though some people could have freaked out.
    Telling people they can't sculpt/draw/paint something because you're freaked out by it...
    For example, I have Apiphobia, but that doesn't mean no one else can ever depict a bee.

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are right! it's just one these over hyped phobias and so everyone keeps commenting on that particular one. I don't even think it's the most common phobia, I would say arachnophobia is much more common.

      Post away, the pods are awesome! Somebody asked me not to say that I was rolling "snakes" of clay. Haha! Bless her - I can't swear I won't say that again, because it's the best word :D xx

    Vu que tu parle français, tu pourrais, par hasard, mettre des sous-titre en même temps que tu parle? Personnellement je parle plutôt bien anglais, mais cela attirerais un peut plus de personnes je pense! Sinon continue comme ça c'est génial!

    I have seen this a few times still enjoy it. And how you use your tools and hands is great. One clay lady gets nagged about calling snakes of clay snakes, so she changed it to sausage and got nagged about that too. And thays just a word seems a tad over the top.

    I've been bitten by a dog 5 times when i was a child
    And one time with my own dog
    The dog that bit me when i was a child was actually bigger than me
    I have scars back then but now only one visible
    That One ☝️ it was so severe that i have to go to hospital to check
    The bite was so deep
    That 5x was from the same dog
    (Grandpa's dog)
    It died 2014 November 11
    I was so sad back then
    That i cried all day
    Thinking that I don't want my only one scar to ever disappear
    I will never put a single medicine for scars in the dogs bite.
    I love animals❤️
    ( the dog has a mental problem because of irresponsible breeding and we were the only one who rescued him
    I feel bad for him because he just stay in one place since we rescued him.
    We just rescued him because he was about to be killed. My grandfather and other family member was all bitten except for my auntie because she never get close to him)

    I have trypophobia but I wouldn’t say I’m “scared” of holes. It just makes my skin itch and goes through me a bit. Anyway I’m studying holes in art so thanks 😂

    When I was little I got stung by a wasp right under my eyelid,I have a hard time watching Planet Earth or any show that has bees or wasp or anything with a stinger because it makes me think of when that happened.
    Long story short: if I hear a buzzing sound I freak out and run.

    any time I make something I'm proud of, I see your videos and then I'm like, "well, nevermind..."
    also I honestly believe trypophobia is equal parts BS, mass hysteria, and media over-dramatization...

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Speaking of experience, this is a good thing, it pushes you further. I believe all artists have some room for improvement, being able to see that is the first step to make better art.

    • @IishTyto
      @IishTyto 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it isn't "BS" or "mass hysteria" or "media over-dramatization" for a lot of people. glad you have the leisure of thinking that, since that means you likely don't have to put up with it.
      i'm trying to watch this to work on my own. it's pretty uncomfortable to watch for me.
      and i'm also watching to, like you said, admire how pretty this piece is bcas Damn does Stephanie Kilgast make some pretty stuff?? :o

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly the confusion of trypophobia is that they put people in it that are just disgusted. When a phobia is so much stronger than just disgust.
      But yes, they are people out there who start to cry, shiver and panic at the sight of holes, so it's not a joke to them. A phobia is never funny when you have to experience it.
      However, great to work on it!

    • @pmarini
      @pmarini 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also have to say that it is not "mass hysteria, and media over-dramatization", etc., because I had it since I was a little child and never knew what it was. Until I saw an article in a website a couple of years ago. Interesting what invokes it though... the explanation in the site was that many years ago there were some organisms looking like this that were very poisonous. Even though they don't exist any more we still inherit this phobia (or some of us). Don't know if this is the real cause.
      Nevermind... Seeing this work doesn't trigger me a lot because of the colors. I love light blue, it is somehow reassuring.

      I do think that trypophobia is a sort of fad right for a lot of people my age and just young people in general. Although, it is a real thing for many people as well, myself included. But even though I can't really look at it, I can say it's a great piece and looks so much like the real thing😂
