  • Hey everyone,
So we have the HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier docked in Liverpool for this weekend so there is a strict no fly zone in force for unmanned aircraft (drones). I had to get close to it too get some shots somehow so I jumped on to the Mersey Ferry with my friend and off we went.
Here is my video of my ride on the Mersey Ferry and a close look at HMS Queen Elizabeth.
I hope you enjoy the video.

A lot of memories in this video for me. I did my apprenticeship at lairds then built sections of the Type 45s in Portsmouth before ending up on the Planning team for the build of the Queen Elizabeth and her sister Prince of Wales before moving to Vancouver Canada and building Ships for Canadian Navy/Coastguard.
Any chance of a shoutout bud

Hi from Regina Saskatchewan Canada, I was born in Wallasey, moved as a young teenager in the mid 70,s but remember so much of the Mersey, I learned to waterski there. One of my cousin's was a ferry captain and I would sometimes spend the whole day back and forth across the river. Thanks for the memories 👍.

Maybe in 5-6 years if it ever gets any aircraft to put on its decks which is unlikely.

Hi, Great shots of HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08) Aircraft Carrier on the River Mersey on a nice sunny say. A couple years ago HMS Prince Of Wales (R09) also visited Liverpool on a February rainy weekend and was then open to public viewing.
Really enjoying the video builds for Liverpool FC and Everton FC very enjoyable and keep up the good work.

Excellent content as always. Glad you mentioned the ferry terminal being closed until autumn. My wife and I visit New Brighton a couple of times a year and enjoy walking to the ferry terminal and back. The absence of the half way toilet break could have been a disaster. Cheers again for your interesting projects.

@Mister Drone, funnily enough HMS Q Elizabeth dwarfs HMS Qorn the minesweeper whose home port is Liverpool. Instead a single able seaman on watch their must be 80-90 guardsman. Did you see any on deck?

@@misterdroneuk , Do you get many navy submarines on the Mersey. Probably to be found in the Irish sea heading down to Plymouth.
I don't think it's deep enough, submersible craft so there needs to be plenty of depth.

Nick, I was 'sent' to join the Royal Navy in 1973 only came home on leave and the ferries were the last thing on my mind. Got wed and stayed in my base port of Plymouth. Left RN in '97 then went to work on Cruise ships. Now living the retirement days here in The Philippines. Good piccies of the day. Mersey looks really clean now eh!
