How We Get Classic Plus

  • An updated version of Classic is a version of WoW that many players want. This is what I believe would be the cheapest way for Blizzard to test if it's a viable option.
    If you want Classic+ tell Blizzard, and spread the word.

    I respectfully disagree with "The game starts at Endgame". Some of us really enjoy the peaceful, thoughtful grind. . . (Though we could definitely get some more love at around the level 40-50 range. That gets a bit painful to find places to find good quests.)

    I actually like the leveling. They should have an option for keeping exp rates the same if you want and even give you a cool mount or something if you do it that way instead.

      Same, I enjoy leveling more than end-game content. The feeling of going from weak to God, the exploration of each new zone, etc.
      I just feels so immersive in the older game.

    Seems to be that most people disagree with the assessment that end game is the goal. Which is true if you look at all MMOs. It's something like 90+% of players never touch end game. Why would they cater to the hard core if it's potentially going to cut their revenue by up to 90%

    Man, as a completely new player to WoW, I love classic and it's level progression. It's smooth, it's methodically, and it allows you to explore the world at your own pace. There is always something to do. I just hit 43 on my Priest, and I love the grind.

    Been playing on duskhaven and it's made me realize how much blizzard could do for basically no money. They could pay 2 dudes and they could probably make new raids, New dungeons, overhaul leveling, add quests to all the zones, etc. The art is able to be done in a very quick manner, democratize game design like osrs and duskhaven for the matter. They could easily do so much, get great pr, and scale up to a team of 20 which would easily generate significantly more than they cost.
    Look at ascension. It's "free" and it's basically a whole different game.
    Not to mention features like guild halls or player housing, mini games and jump puzzles. These are all things that people love doing and would bring a large diversity of players back to the game.

      I like that idea... and I also really like the idea of challenges to spice it up. Though... I'm not entirely sure what the advantage of classic plus is compared to 'make retail good'? Like the reason classic became a thing is that retail was bad, to me? But I guess that while I liked some features from classic and I felt the day-to-day gameplay was better (maybe a little slow, sometimes, but retail went way too far in the other direction), it also lacks a lot of features retail benefitted from. Plus, y'know, new content.
      Maybe my preferences are just weird, though, I liked garrisons and thought the underwater zones were the best thing ever.

      @@basedeltazero714 I like the idea of retail and classic+ co-existing because I do like the quality of life changes in retail but sometimes I'm more in the mood for them to not be there, to have a slower pace that classic provides, it feels more like a rewarding adventure.

    The one endgame I enjoy is the PVP which is rough to get into when you hit max lvl and go against people with the best gear already. Getting one shot by another player and having to try to grind for the gear especially if you lose a lot has been the biggest turn off for me. Ill take long breaks from the game, come back, grind a toon up, finally hit max lvl and pvp only to stop after a month or two because of that. I always think it will be different, but it never is. I do enjoy the leveling though and figuring out the different classes while trying to figure out what play style works the best for me.

  • @FemtoTheGreat
    @FemtoTheGreat ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I appreciate your opinion, but your suggestions seem too retail like. Arenas and rated battleground in particular seem somewhat contrary to the vanilla spirit. Also the leveling could be spiced up without being sped up. Many people find the journey of leveling in vanilla the main draw of that version of WoW. The popularity of hardcore proves it. Good video though.

    • @ethanbudde7841
      @ethanbudde7841 ปีที่แล้ว

      this makes no sense. If you like pvp, the "classic" forms of pvp will still exist, and it's unlikely that arenas/bgs would drastically pull that population away (this is evidenced by the strong pvp community still existing outside of bgs and arena in wrath classic.) if you don't care for pvp, then adding the content in for those players does nothing to change your experience.

    I feel that the lower difficulty of raids in classic already makes them flexible you dont need 40 people for MC having 40-man raids is the essence of classic. but everything else i think you got it spot on.

    What I want from classic+….
    First off….use Turtle WoW as a starting point. OK!
    Then,
    1. Update graphics to as close to being on par with retail as possible
    2. Add Worgen to the alliance, and Ogres to the horde
    3. Flying Mounts
    4. No outlands, no northrend, no replacing Azeroth
    5. More content, more towns, more quests, as many 5 man dungeons as possible, etc etc.
    6. Toggable hardcore, and cross-faction play, AoE looting, and other QoL things.
    7. A balancing of classes, in my opinion WotLK is a decent standard with regards to balance, but please incorporate some things (not everything retail did was bad) like for example differentiating Bear and Cat Druid forms by giving them different talent trees!
    8. The Ruin system they showed off for Season of Discovery is also a good concept I would like to see incorporated, just umm dial it back a bit, because in its current state it’s too much like retail!
    9. A 3.3.0 style dungeon finder, but with a twist, the ability to find groups for world bosses and maybe battlegrounds as well.
    10. No WoW tokens, ever! Not under any circumstances!
    11. No more sharding,and no more servers. Entire regions should all be able to play together.

    Regarding old dungeons at max level, I think FFXIV shows that this can really be good. They do it slightly differently than your suggestion, where it syncs your level/equipment down and thus abilities available change as well, but the benefit this has for newer players trying to do content that is no longer 'current' can't be understated.
    I kind of wonder if this would help remove the 'just solo grind to X level' mentality that exists in classic and definitely in even older MMOs like the classic EverQuest private server P99
    Also yes to horizontal progression, 100%, but I would argue that speeding up vertical progression to 60 might not be a good thing to combine with that (depending on the speed.) It might be masochistic, but I feel like the path to 60 resulting in now having horizontal payoff could be a good reward for having worked hard to get there. If scaling in dungeons were a thing (like I mentioned in FFXIV above), then you'd always have people to play with on that road.
    FFXI had horizontal progression with its expansions, but limited level syncing while XIV doesn't really have horizontal progression and unlimited level syncing, so it's hard for me to point to something that's done exactly what I'm suggesting. I didn't feel like I understood the game at all when I hit max level in GW2 though, which I think is important to bring up as a cautionary tale.

  • @brokkrgames2778
    @brokkrgames2778 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Kinda lost me in step 1: "the game starts at end game" is literal retail mentality.
    Classic was a journey and an adventure. Yes there were raids etc but more than raids were a bunch of dungeons while you were leveling and whole zones to experience. It grounded you in the world and forced you to be in the world instead of just running through it. It gave the game soul.
    maybe you can retain that "journey / adventure" feeling while also leveling quickly but thus far ive yet to see it. With fast leveling youre incentivized to go faster and faster and not just stop and smell the roses. We need to offer different starting experiences for vet players to playthrough imo or give THEM an option to accelerate their leveling in some way.
    Smelling the roses is what made classic great! if that isnt true for you --- what the heck was it about classic you liked? If you hated being the hero and liked being a whelp - why would you rush that process??
    Better said: OF all the players that played classic - how many do you think actually even got into 40 or 20 man raiding percentage wise? The majority? its doubtful....
    Step 2: Agree
    Step 3: Agreed - you could also easily change some of the mobs in there and justify it for high level characters (IE: First time you go through WC you clear out the baddie and then at 60 the dungeon is largely the same but there are some new baddies in it etc)
    Step 4: Yehp!
    Step 5: Easy solution! - although I think open world PvP should be innovated in a way as this was a big detractor of open world pvp

    Classic+ might work but I think WoW 2 would be better. Imagine WoW but with updated graphics and a better engine. Similar features but told from a completely different viewpoint with different (no goddamn sylvanas for once, who tf is anduin) than WoW ended up being told by. No more hero of azeroth, savior of the 9 realms, champion of the universe lore. No more dead zones and no more dead content. All revamped. Blizzard would have to put up an initial investment for this, but I feel like they already do so for the new expansions. The dragon isles is a MASSIVE zone. It takes a solid 5-10 minutes to fly at 920% speed from Southern Azure Span to Northern Forbidden Reach, and I'm leaving out the entire underground world of Zaralek Cavern. Blizzard definitely has the resources to follow through with this, they just don't have the numbers to prove it would be a good idea to attempt. Ultimately, I think people just want a new game, but the reason WoW has survived as long as it has rather than other MMOs is because people are loyal to the Warcraft brand. People want more interesting lore that isn't too cheesy. No more PG-rated BS, no more politically correct NPCs, just give us the honest, brutal, hardcore truth about what a world of warcraft would really be like. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to be fun.

    i wouldn't speed up leveling. leveling is boring because of the mobs and quests that give you no challenge. Give each and every mob a few new abilities, active and passive, some range options (blizzard mages), overhaul the dungeons to have actually mechanics of their own and put some more fast travel options in. Seriously, what is so different about what you do in endgame vs. leveling? Make leveling great again, it is an important part of your journey and should be as important to the game! Why is there leveling at all when everyone just wants it to be over as soon as possible? If its boring change it or take it out. Don't make it just faster...

    • @cococock2418
      @cococock2418 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, absolutely speed it up. Leveling takes way too long in vanilla and it's boringas fuck. YOU want the game to be over as soon as possible because YOU view leveling as "the end game". We want to get max level so we can actually raid and pvp for the remainer of the expansion

      Tell me how i see leveling as the endgame? I enjoy raiding too but i accept leveling as part of the game and can find joy in it.
      It is an RPG, you grow! Why else would you have talent trees? So you can change minimal things at end level?
      You go on adventure and explore! All of that could be exciting again, if it was up to date, challenging and forces you to think instead of grinding.
      I explained why it's boring and that it could be changed.
      You can pvp while leveling. (they could implement battlegrounds earlier again)
      If you see raiding as the full game experience then why not cut the leveling entirely?
