It's Tuesday, October 1st. My power is out, my water is out. I just got my internet back. This hurricane has been terrible. The first thing I did was come here and play this song in my head as loud as I can because I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY TO BE ALIVE!
At around minute 11 there is this feeling that wells up in my heart and i feel like everything that i worry about in my life will ultimately be okay. No other band taps into my soul like this and this is just one of many examples of Phish jams that can pull you out of yourself so you can gain some perspective. Amazing.
i come back to this jam and chalkdust torture 7/10/99 when i really need to remember how to feel. i quit drugs a long time ago, and its hard to remember how to feel sometimes. its hard to remember alot of triumphs and really celebrate them. these two jams always help me do so, always help me feel okay. I dont know what they were feeling that night exactly but ive felt it before and have never been able to express it quite as beautifully as this with words.
I will fight anyone that does not think this is amongst one of the most amazing live performances by any musician throughout history. Hood from a live one and Chalkdust from bakers dozen are my top 3. Was at the went and could not believe what I was hearing...then they played hood and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!
Late August way the fuck up in Maine out of our minds seeing the greatest band ever. So long ago damn what a great weekend that was. Still seeing them regularly. The magic has not faded.
Have to state what i have said countless times, Page is such a crucial part of the machine that is Phish. So hard to imagine Phish without Page laying down those gorgeous chops. Blows my mind that he wasnt an original member, and thank God and Mike that they found him, because it simply wouldn't be the same without him.
I think Page drove the pace of this Jam 8:00 + Trey followed Pages lead up until the climax They seemed lost until Trey and Fish found that key just before 8 minutes then Page took it to another level on the keyboards
@@moheganson Although I agree Page helped elevate this jam... It's actually Mike that started the deviation from the basic song structure noodling in the first part of the jam, to the type 2 goodness we all love. Listen carefully after Fishman lays down the foundation beat that Trey approves of in the video... you hear Mike hit 4 notes that change the whole thing C > A > F > G which later morphs into Amin 7 > Fadd 9 > Cmaj. Page and Trey soon follow suit and the rest is the one of the greatest jams ever created

LOL....WHO KNEW??!!! and I had to go right thru Burlington and up along Lake Champlain!!! I swear every VW bus ever made since the 60's was on the road that day!!! Between all the Phish tunes we could hear all around us...and the "Tool" and "Stones" me n' my boy were cranking.....well, it was an awesome trip. If Phish ever goes back to Loring.....I think I might just have to see the concert this time!!! Happy 30th, guys! Next time bring Phish Food for all of us on the highway!! ~~ RED ☮♡♫
Uh yeah like two hits of mescaline for me. Walking along with my buddy to second set and booom!! I turn and my buddy is gone and I’m left with only a sleeping bag and my Nikon camera. I put my head down and barged to the front. I look up to find I’m 50 feet from the stage and there happened to be a hay bail to stand on. What happened next was the pinnacle of my Phish show career. Pure joy and I got it all on film. The art jam ended and they handed us the plywood thing and we passed it over our heads on to the sculpture. One of the pinnacles of my musical life and I saw 60+ dead shows and scores of phish shows. I still get chills.
Madcatcon199 yeah that one is the best Gin up until that point for the band. Just gave it another listen; Lots of energy and teases esp. Dead stops in the middle of nowhere North of Bangor. So I just dropped the top of the convertible I was driving and chatted with all the people in their vehicles sitting around me (son was mortified "Mom!!! You don't do that!!!") AHAHAhaaaa :D....just like "back in the day" after Woodstock or somethin' (LOL)...good vibes....happy/mellow people with neat chatter about the show and the weekend. Thought I'd shake the pseudo-hippie traffic when I got off I-95 at Bangor and started cutting cross-country to make better road time....but unbeknownst to me at the time: the band was from Vermont!!! ~~ RED ☮♡♫
we are old heads.. the kids call us 1.0
Good audio, thanx. Btw- best gin ever.
25th Year Anniversary ;)
Only the great went
I remember this vividly ...and I do mean VIVID !
i was extremely vivid
It would have been really cool to be at this show and had your psychedelics kick in right as this came on.
This happened to me. Unforgettable
@@samuelhughes3327 upload that shit bro
@@samuelhughes3327do you have the video still? I would love to see it!
It would’ve been just as amazing to me if I had taken them or if I was completely sober. That’s how amazing this is to me
...but have you heard the Coventry Glide??
8:35 mark for me is when I knew this was going into uncharted territory.

Love you Mark!!
13:15 mark lives forever in my mind
Thanks to “Mark” ;)

That's a helluva first show
Mine was IT on my 21st bday
Warning! Around 9 mins in you just start to lift off the ground uncontrollably.
my favorite gin is still 8/13/93 Indiana
So Corey Davis, what did you think of the Murat Gin?
Madcatcon199 yeah that one is the best Gin up until that point for the band. Just gave it another listen; Lots of energy and teases esp. Weekapaug around 8 min, but for me, it's nowhere near as blissful and euphoric as this masterpiece. I mean this one makes me shed tears outta joy. Murat version not so much.
wasnt there but got it..n umight b right
